This is a restaurant that specializes in dishes using conger eel. However, I couldn't resist ordering the 500 yen curry to see how it was. - Order: - Curry: 500 yen - Hamburg topping: 480 yen The vegetable curry alone costs 500 yen. It contains eggplant, okra, bell pepper, and other spicy ingredients. It is quite delicious and worth the price. The topping of the hamburger is nicely grilled and tasty, but considering the price of 480 yen, the cost-performance is average. The owner trained at a famous conger eel restaurant, so there are various dishes using conger eel such as grilled, simmered, and fried. The staff were polite and attentive.

This is a shop located a short walk from Akasaka Bridge. It may be hard to notice if you're not familiar with the area. This time, I ordered the grilled eel rice bowl (small size) for 1650 yen, but with a 100 yen discount promotion, it was 1550 yen. You can choose between grilled or simmered eel, and I chose grilled. First, a salad and small side dishes were served, followed quickly by the eel rice bowl. The bowl was large with plenty of grilled eel lined up inside! Even though this was the "small" size, I was a bit surprised by the portion. The grilled eel had a delicious aroma that really whetted my appetite. I haven't had eel much before (just in sushi), but it was really tasty. I was enjoying the eel rice bowl when a dessert of ice cream appeared! The cost performance was great too. Once again, I left feeling full and satisfied. Thank you for the meal!

Just a 5-minute walk from Akebonobashi Station, tucked away in a side street off the Akebonobashi shopping street, you'll find "Grace," a dining spot located below Nembutsu Hill. This new restaurant opened on March 2, 2023, and it's a hidden gem. They offer dishes like conger eel rice, oyakodon, curry rice, and hamburger. I tried the curry rice topped with hamburger and a fried egg. The curry rice is only 500 yen and comes in a generous portion. The curry sauce has a slightly sweet taste with fruits blended in, and it's packed with vegetables. Eating it with the hamburger and fried egg was a delight! My companion ordered the hamburger set, which came with stir-fried vegetables, salad, namul, and side dishes, all for 1100 yen. As we were about to leave, the staff surprised us with dessert - ice cream and tea. We left the restaurant feeling very satisfied. This place truly offers great value for the price. I heard their conger eel rice follows the style of Nihonbashi Tamai, so I'll have to try that next time. They also seem to welcome cafe and coffee customers, so if you're in the Akebonobashi area, be sure to check them out!

I visited this Japanese restaurant in Akebonobashi by chance on April 12, 2023. It's a hidden gem that is not even registered on Tabelog, so I decided to register it myself. To find the restaurant, you need to walk from the Akebonobashi Station A2 exit, towards the Ichigo Daifuku origin shop called Daikakutamaya, and then turn right towards Nembutsu-zaka. It's located on the right side next to a beauty salon. The restaurant used to be an Italian place, but it opened as a Japanese restaurant on March 2. It has a cozy atmosphere that feels more like a Western-style izakaya than a traditional Japanese restaurant. I arrived around 11:30 am and was relieved to see that they had a lunch menu available. The lunch options included Grace Chicken for 1,100 yen, Oyakodon for 1,100 yen, Anago Tamagotoji Don for 1,100 yen, Anago Meshi (small) for 1,650 yen, Nidanjubako Chirashi for 2,200 yen, and Anago Bara Chirashi for 1,480 yen. The Grace Chicken, named after the restaurant, was recommended, but I was intrigued by the variety of Anago (conger eel) dishes. I decided to order the Anago Tamagotoji Don for 1,100 yen. When I saw the menu, it reminded me of the Anago Tempura Don I had at a restaurant called "Hamaishi" in Ginza 8-chome. The dish came with a salad, small side dish, and dessert for a reasonable price, especially considering the current high price of eggs. The salad was beautifully arranged, with finely sliced daikon that brought back memories of my days at cooking school. The dish was served in about 10 minutes, and even though I ordered the regular size, the bowl was quite large and filling. The sweetness of the onions combined with the eggs created a light and gentle flavor in the Anago Don. It had a refined taste that contrasted with the traditional soy sauce-based flavor of downtown Tokyo. The delicate balance of flavors was impressive. The dessert sorbet was also delicious. For dinner, they offer two options priced at 5,000 yen and 8,000 yen, with reservations required. I hope others can find their way to this hidden gem without getting lost on the way from the station.
