The year-end party ended with "una-ju" (eel over rice). It was a slightly small portion, so it was easy to finish even after drinking. Other dishes included roast beef and various items on a platter. The soup was liver-free, I think... Hmm, I can't remember.

I visited this branch for the first time. The taste of the grilled eel rice bowl didn't quite hit the spot, so our meal with four people ended up disappointing and left me feeling lonely.

In the fiercely competitive Taito Ward, that eel restaurant is not there... I found it to be thin and with too many bones. The seasoning is not bad, but I probably won't go there again.

This is an eel restaurant located in a street that looks like a back alley in Asakusa. It is relatively quiet because it is not easy to recognize that there is an eel restaurant from a distance. As a result, the atmosphere inside the restaurant is relaxed. Due to the recent rise in eel prices, all dishes are priced accordingly. On this day, I ordered the "premium eel rice bowl" (4500 yen) and the "half set meal" (4000 yen). When you order the half set meal, you first get tofu, simmered dish, and sashimi. Since it was a lunch visit this time, I did not drink alcohol, but if it were at night, you could enjoy these dishes while waiting for the eel rice bowl. In terms of taste, everything was delicious. About 10 minutes later, the premium eel rice bowl arrived. Considering the price, the size of the premium eel rice bowl is reasonable. The eel is tender and the sauce is on the lighter side. It may lack uniqueness, but it is still delicious enough. The half set meal really comes with half the amount of eel. However, it is served in a small container so it does not feel meager. It might be just the right amount after drinking alcohol. Unfortunately, the miso soup does not contain eel liver. I wish they would include even a small amount of it. There are many famous eel restaurants in Asakusa, but they all have long lines. When you don't feel like waiting in line or when you want to enjoy eel at a leisurely pace, this restaurant in Asakusa might be a good place to remember.

In Asakusa, we had eel! And it was a day before the Day of the Ox in midsummer? We had to take off our shoes to enter the restaurant, and the tables were sunken kotatsu style, which was convenient for people with leg problems. My companion seemed to still be a bit tipsy and not hungry yet. I enjoyed eating mozuku, the thin green type. The eel was delicious, with a crispy skin and a nice vinegar flavor. The assorted tempura was decent, with a slightly thick coating. And the main dish of grilled eel was huge! Maybe ordering one portion for each of us would have been enough? My companion regretted not ordering separately, but I made sure to finish everything for both of us! It felt like it was my first time having eel this season. As closing time approached and last orders were called, we left the restaurant. Thank you for the meal!

Princess and Edo sightseeing ♪ During the flight to Edo, the princess searched for delicious food in Edo and when someone mentioned "Eel is cheap and delicious," she got excited because she loves eel. Upon arriving in Asakusa, she decided to explore the area and have some eel for lunch. She found a restaurant with eel dishes, but unfortunately, it was either closed or fully booked. Eventually, she found a larger restaurant with multiple floors and ordered an eel rice bowl. The eel was flavorful and the princess was delighted by the taste. She realized that even though the sauce was not too thick, the eel itself was delicious enough to make the rice satisfying. Overall, she enjoyed the eel dish, although she found the dessert that came with it to be unnecessary. She concluded that she would consider revisiting the restaurant in the future.

Let's have eel in Asakusa, so we decided to go to Kawamatsu. When we arrived, we were guided to the annex because it was early and not many customers were there, so we could relax and enjoy a nice atmosphere. I had the eel set meal, which came with sashimi, sesame tofu, and other side dishes. I paired it with beer and sake, and had a very satisfying dinner. I would love to go back if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

Once again, I went out with my colleagues from work! This time we planned to climb to the top of the Skytree and then eat eel rice bowls. Eel rice bowls are my favorite food in the world, so when asked what I would want for my last meal, I didn't hesitate to answer eel rice bowls. There are many eel restaurants in Asakusa, so I was looking forward to it. Initially, we planned to go to Hatsugawa, but it was fully booked, so we went to Kawamatsu Bekkan nearby instead. It was past lunchtime, so the restaurant was not crowded. We ordered the eel rice bowl set for 3700 yen, which came with dessert, and a bottle of beer. I wanted draft beer, but they only had bottled beer, which was a bit pricey at 800 yen per bottle. However, it was delicious and ice cold! The bottle had an image of the Skytree on it. The eel rice bowl arrived in about 15 minutes. First, we opened the lid of the bowl. There was no liver! I thought there would be eel liver soup, but it was just regular soup. The eel in the bowl was thin rather than plump. The sauce was not too sweet, and there was plenty of sauce on the small amount of rice, making it a bit soggy. The most concerning part was that there were many bones in the eel. The taste of the sauce may vary depending on personal preference, but I prefer sweeter sauce, and I was bothered by the small bones and the lack of liver soup, so my rating is on the lower side. The restaurant had a spacious and calming atmosphere.

Around noon on a weekday in December 2015. The exterior of the eel restaurant looks high-class, but the lunch menu is not too expensive. The first floor has four-person box seats, each with a sunken kotatsu-style seating area. The atmosphere inside is elegant and nice, I would rate it 5 out of 5. The service is also very polite. I planned to eat the eel boat (2 eels) but was told it would take 30 minutes to be served, while a regular eel bowl would only take about 15 minutes. So I decided to go with the premium eel bowl for 3700 yen (includes soup, pickles, and dessert). The eel bowl had a small eel with a light and slightly spicy sauce that was flavorful. The soup did not have liver in it, just a regular soup. The dessert was blueberry jelly, which seemed to aim for improved eyesight with the combination of eel and blueberry. The dessert was quite elaborate and did not feel like a typical lunch menu dessert. Of course, it was delicious. I was satisfied with the service, atmosphere, and price, but personally, I prefer a richer, sweeter, and more traditional taste in my eel bowl.

In Asakusa, especially when it's hot, eel is a must. While famous traditional eel restaurants like Hatsukogawa and Irokawa are great, I arrived a bit late and wanted to enjoy my meal slowly while having a drink, so I decided to visit this place. Located in a quiet alley on the south side of Kaminarimon Street (opposite side of the Thunder Gate), it has a calm atmosphere. It's also suitable for business meals, as some reviews mention. I was guided to a sunken kotatsu-style seating area on the first floor. It felt like a semi-private room, very spacious. After walking a lot, I was really thirsty, so I ordered a beer and an eel rice bowl. To start, I was served with sesame tofu, winter melon and shrimp simmered in cream sauce, and tuna sashimi. The combination of light-flavored winter melon and shrimp simmered in rich cream sauce was unique. The okra and paprika toppings made it visually appealing. The tuna roll with seaweed was also delicious, with the flavor of the seaweed enhancing it. When my beer ran out, I had a glass of Kikumasamune sake from the barrel. The aroma of the barrel was quite nice for a change. And then came the eel rice bowl. It was a standard eel rice bowl, but the eel was on the lean side and the sauce was light. Not sure if they removed too much fat or if the eel itself wasn't fatty enough... I felt a bit unsatisfied after eating the eel, but older customers might prefer it this way. If it was just the eel rice bowl, I would give it 3 stars, but because the appetizers were delicious, I'll give it 3.5 stars.

On a sunny Sunday in Asakusa, which was very crowded, I had a leisurely tempura lunch at Kawamatsu Bekkan to avoid the crowds. [What I ate] Tempura set meal 3150 yen I wanted to eat tendon, but they only had set meals so I ordered this one. It came with small dishes, sesame tofu, assorted sashimi, rice, miso soup, pickles, and green tea ice cream. All the dishes were elegant and delicious! The tempura consisted of 2 shrimp, 2 fish, pumpkin, and green pepper. The thick coating was crispy and delicious. Overall, the taste was comforting. The restaurant is a bit away from the main street, so it's quiet and a hidden gem! It looks fancy and you have to take off your shoes, but you can sit on chairs to eat, so it's reassuring for those with bad legs. It seems that eel is famous here, so I would like to come back to try it someday! Thank you for the meal!

On a certain day in August, I went to Asakusa with the usual group of four friends to celebrate a friend's birthday. I love Asakusa. It always gets me excited! We went to an eel restaurant as per the birthday girl's request, called "Kawamatsu Bekkan". The private room was very clean, spacious, and nice. We chose the lunch course which came with a half portion of eel on rice. Even though it was a half portion, it was just the right amount for us girls! After the meal, we all took a rickshaw ride for a memorable experience! We took a commemorative photo in a place where we could see the Skytree well. It was a fun day!

Located in the opposite direction of Senso-ji Temple from Kaminarimon Gate, this area is less crowded compared to the bustling temple. I decided to visit this traditional eel restaurant while in Asakusa. The restaurant has a grand entrance and a spacious interior, giving it a hotel-like feel. I was guided to a large room by a female waitress in a kimono. Unfortunately, they had already sold out of grilled eel by the time I arrived in the early afternoon. I ordered the eel rice bowl lunch set (3150 yen). The portion size was smaller than I expected. It might not be filling enough for adult men. The taste of the eel was not significantly different from what I usually have. Hmm, it's hard to distinguish the taste of eel variations.

I stopped by after visiting Asakusa. I wanted to go to the recommended "Hatsukogawa" by a friend, but couldn't get in because it was fully booked. I was already craving for eel, so I went to the nearby restaurant "Kawamatsu" (annex) instead. I had to wait for about 20 minutes since I didn't have a reservation, and was seated in a private room in the basement (shared with another party). I ordered the eel rice bowl set (with soup) for 2,730 yen. There was a 10% charge for using the private room, as stated in the menu. The eel was not impressive, it seemed like they were using small and thin eels that were cheap. The amount of rice was also small, maybe to match the size of the eel. They use domestically farmed eels, probably from Shizuoka. The sauce was light and lacked depth. I asked if they had grilled eel liver, but they said they didn't have it on the menu. Since they were preparing the eel, they should have the liver as well, but maybe it's a dish only regular customers can order. Overall, I felt unsatisfied and would be willing to pay more for better quality eel, or pay less for the same quality.

While sightseeing in Asakusa, why not enjoy some delicious eel? Initially, we tried to go to the main store but it was full, so we went to the annex across the street. The interior had a luxurious feel, and we were seated in a spacious room on the second floor with only three tables. We had eel and tempura, with the tempura being crispy and the shrimp juicy. The eel was also cooked perfectly and delicious. The rice portion was small and the flavors were mild, but we left feeling satisfied. The prices were on the higher side, but indulging in a little luxury once in a while is nice, right?
