Located along the Star Road shopping street, just a 4-minute walk from Asagaya Station North Exit, is "Yakiniku Horumon Araiya Asagaya Branch." The exterior has a charming, local feel, in contrast to the upscale vibe of the shop in Jinbocho. Inside, the simple and clean layout features a few counter seats and tables suitable for different group sizes.
During my visit at 5 pm with a reservation, I was seated at a large table and ordered a refreshing glass of draft beer. The menu was similar to the one in Jinbocho but with a few different options. I started with some classic dishes, such as the thick-cut tongue salt, thick-cut Harami, and thick-cut liver. The tongue salt was tender and flavorful, the Harami was packed with umami, and the grilled liver melted in my mouth.
Next, I tried the BIG heart steak with herb butter, which was cooked by the staff and had a unique and delicious flavor combination. I couldn't resist ordering more, including the thick-cut Sagari and premium Kalbi. The Sagari was lean and light, while the Kalbi was incredibly tender with a delightful fat content.
The "Ichibo" had a meaty texture with just the right amount of marbling, offering a sweet richness. The "Horumon 5 kinds mix" showcased the distinct characteristics of each cut. For dessert, I enjoyed the Yakiniku shop's minced meat bowl and Monk soup, a savory Korean seaweed soup with a deep and addictive flavor.
My friends and I were extremely satisfied with the quality and value of the meal. Compared to Jinbocho, I believe it's easier to make a reservation here, so I highly recommend it.
