The seafood izakaya on the second floor of the building above the site of Choppu Akihabara, "Kane-chan's popular Italian," was open. The sign says, "Don't lose to Corona, all lunch items are 200 yen off." It's generous of them to offer a 200 yen discount. I went up the stairs to the second floor and entered the restaurant. There were a few other customers already there. We ordered the seafood bowl for 800 yen (regular price 1000 yen), the mixed sashimi bowl for 600 yen (regular price 800 yen), and also tried the Inaniwa udon for 300 yen. The food arrived in about 10 minutes. The seafood bowl was served in a plastic bowl with a decent portion. It looked a bit wild, but the fish, including flatfish, yellowtail, gurnard, tuna, medium fatty tuna, and tamagoyaki, were all delicious. The vinegared rice with sesame and chopped nori was also tasty. The homemade pickles with ginger were quite good too. The miso soup and salad were included as well. Overall, for a 1000 yen lunch, it was decent. The Inaniwa udon was probably unnecessary though. This place might be better for drinking at night rather than for lunch. Thank you for the meal.

An izakaya located a little away from Akihabara. It is on the second floor of a building, so there are not many customers. I chose grilled fish (my friend had mixed fry) since it was not too crowded and I wanted to avoid items like sashimi that rely on freshness. The grilled fish was consistent in taste. Maybe I should have tried the sashimi after all. There is nothing particularly noteworthy, but it could be a good option if you are struggling to find a place for lunch.

Located on a backstreet of Kanda Sakumacho in Akihabara, on the second floor of Vels Akihabara where the popular Italian restaurant Kaneko is on the first floor, is a seafood izakaya called Fujitaya which opened in November 2020. It is a dining establishment operated by Akiho Farmers, a company based in Sendai. They offer fresh vegetables from their own farm and nearby farms in Miyagi prefecture, as well as seafood from the fish market in Miyako City, Iwate prefecture. On this particular day, two of us visited around 7 pm. We started with a draft beer (490 yen) and a cheers! with The Premium Malt's. The appetizer (300 yen) was satsuma-age, which was a huge portion. We also ordered the Maguro Butsu (1,180 yen), a hefty 200g serving of tuna, and a mountain of shredded cabbage (480 yen) as snacks. The Maguro Butsu had a satisfying amount of food. For drinks, we got a beer ball set (600 yen) which included carbonated water for two refills. We enjoyed three rounds of drinks with the Maguro Butsu as our side dish.

Nearby Company Lunch Series #130. Today, I decided to go to the seafood izakaya restaurant called Fujitaya, which I couldn't go to last time. The restaurant is located a short walk from Akihabara Station, across Showa Street on the east side, on the 2nd floor of an Italian dumpling izakaya on the 1st floor. The entrance, exterior, and interior were unremarkable, with a simple feel and many table seats. I visited just before 12:30, with one customer already there and two more arriving later. There was one male chef in the kitchen, one female server, and one female selling bento boxes in front of the store. I ordered the Bara Chirashi Don (mixed seafood bowl) and Inaniwa Udon. The dishes arrived in about 15 minutes. There were various seafood bowls available, but I chose the highly recommended Bara Chirashi Don, along with the Inaniwa Udon (paying on the spot when ordering). The main Bara Chirashi had white fish, tuna, cucumber, thick rolled omelette, salmon roe, and chopped seaweed, and although I hadn't eaten Bara Chirashi much before, the finely chopped ingredients mixed well. Particularly, the crunchy texture of the cucumber and salmon roe was good. The portion might feel a bit small if ordered alone, so next time I'll opt for the large size. The Inaniwa Udon had a flavorful soup with green onions and chicken, and the udon noodles had a firm texture, which was nice. I enjoyed the addition of chicken in the dish. I look forward to using their lunch menu again next time.
