After having some delicious soba noodles in Komagome, I felt like I could eat a little more, so I searched for a restaurant near Ikebukuro station that was conveyor belt sushi (kaitenzushi). I found a good option called "Tenkazushi Ikebukuro" and decided to head there. Although I was also considering Triton Sushi, I still had some time before it opened, so I took a stroll through the morning entertainment district of Ikebukuro on my way to Tenkazushi. Tenkazushi has locations in Shibuya, Ikebukuro, Otsuka, Kichijoji, Nishi-Ogikubo, and Shin-Okubo, but it seems like the Shin-Okubo location will be closing soon due to building renovations. As I made my way through the entertainment district near Ikebukuro North Exit, I noticed that there doesn't seem to be an exit called "North Exit" anymore. It seems like Toshima Ward is trying to change the image of the entertainment district, and as a Saitama resident, I'm cheering them on! When I arrived at the restaurant, it was about to open, and there weren't many people waiting, so I was able to get in smoothly. I noticed a sign outside offering a lunch service discount from 130 yen to 120 yen, so I decided to aim for the 130 yen plates. Since the soba restaurant didn't have beer, I started with a "draft beer" for 550 yen, and then switched to "cold sake" for 430 yen. I collected only the 130 yen plates of sushi (see photo). Although it's conveyor belt sushi, the sushi is handcrafted by the chef right in front of you, so it can be considered high-quality sushi. Sushi that is not handcrafted is called "nigirizushi," and the difference in quality is quite noticeable. Everything was delicious, thank you for the meal! I was happy that it all came out to be under 1000 yen, so I happily headed home, but when I looked at the receipt to write this review, I realized that all the plates were still 130 yen. Upon closer inspection, I saw that the 120 yen discount is only for weekdays during lunchtime, and this day was a Saturday. If there's a movement to turn Saturdays into weekdays, count me in!
