I haven't reviewed it yet, but the other day, I went to eat at Butsuyama at the Shimbashi intersection. After finishing my meal at Butsuyama and going outside to take a photo of the storefront, I was captivated by the flag next to Butsuyama with the words "Challenge to the Spicy Hero" written on it. I checked out the website of Kasugatei, the restaurant next to Butsuyama, and found a video titled "Emajasmine vs Lava Tantan Oil Soba." In the video, the owner, Mr. Takeda, talked about the spicy Tantan oil soba that they developed at Kasugatei, saying that the staff initially thought it was impossible to finish but eventually managed to create a dish that they believed in. The spiciness of the Emajasmine was rated at 3.5 out of 10 (later changed to 5), but I thought it wouldn't be that spicy. So, I decided to go to Kasugatei in Akihabara. When I arrived at around 2 pm, I found the place to be quite cramped. I ordered the Tantan oil soba with maximum spiciness and waited about 10 minutes for it to be served. Before digging into the Tantan oil soba, I tried the ginger soup, which was delicious. The Tantan oil soba, topped with spicy miso, Chinese cabbage, plenty of green onions, and bamboo shoots, had medium-thick curly noodles. I mixed it well, and although the spiciness was disappointing, the flavor was good. I added some garlic, which enhanced the taste. After finishing the noodles, I added the rice and enjoyed the meal. Overall, the spicy level was not satisfying, but the taste was delicious.
