Dinner plans were up in the air as I wandered around the streets of Kanda on the weekend. Without a reservation, it seemed impossible to get into popular restaurants. After peeking into a grilled game meat restaurant, which was fully booked, I continued walking and suddenly remembered there was another grilled game meat restaurant in Kanda. This restaurant was also bustling, but there were seats available at the counter! So, I decided to have dinner at "Yaki Jibie Wana Tetome Kajicho" in Kanda. The location of the restaurant can be confirmed on Tabelog. This restaurant has multiple branches in different areas, so having two in the same Kanda area was convenient. My stomach was in a meat (game) mode, so this was perfect. Unlike the self-grilled style, the staff here grills the meat and brings it to you. You also make your own drinks and inform the staff. First, I prepared a beer and toasted with the cabbage appetizer. The cabbage was delicious. First, I ordered the classic "Nikomi" for 480 yen. It's best to order this as it comes quickly and offers a variety of cuts. I also couldn't miss the "Shiumai" for 480 yen. It's a must-try with plenty of meat packed inside. Now, onto the grilling! I ordered "Wild Boar Loin" for 330 yen, "Wild Boar Belly" for 330 yen, and "Japanese Deer Thigh" for 300 yen. The meat was tender and juicy, with each having a unique taste. I also ordered the not listed on the menu but delicious grilled mushrooms. Grilled mushrooms are always tasty. If meat disappeared from this world, mushrooms might take over as the main ingredient. The "Aged Ezo Deer Cheese" for 950 yen was an interesting combination. The deer meat and cheese complemented each other well, enhancing the flavor. I also had the "Grilled Eggplant" for 450 yen before the main dish. Now, for the highlight of the day, the "Jibie Curry" for 780 yen. This curry with game meat is a must-try at Wana. It offers a deep and enjoyable taste. This menu can be ordered with curry rice or just curry. I chose it without rice for a specific reason. The "Pheasant Dashi Tea Pickles" for 580 yen was a delightful tea pickles with a pheasant dashi flavor that seeps into your body. But when combined with the "Jibie Curry," it reached the peak of deliciousness. The combination was so good that I decided to add more alcohol and another piece of meat, the "Ezo Deer Loin" for 350 yen. You can choose from salt or soy sauce for the meat, but it's best to ask the staff for their recommendation. I thoroughly enjoyed all the meats, the curry, and my favorite items at this fantastic restaurant. Luckily, I was able to have a great dinner without a reservation. Thank you for the feast!
