I thought about eating and walking around with my wife at the Tsukiji outer market, but it was too hot, so we just had our usual affordable tamagoyaki. The 100 yen tamagoyaki was a great start, and we headed towards our lunch destination with our stomachs growling. The lively atmosphere at Tsukiji is the essence of Japan's liveliness!

Terry Ito's family egg omelette specialty shop is located in Toyosu Market, which is easy to find. Unlike Tsukiji Market, it seems they don't serve freshly made omelettes. I heard that it goes well with rice, so I bought one with "green onions". It's a sweet omelette. At my home, we usually make soy sauce flavored omelettes, so my father didn't like it. When you add soy sauce, the sweetness stands out and it becomes delicious.

I had Tamago-yaki from Marubu-san. It was simple and had a good dashi flavor. The level of sweetness may vary depending on personal preference, but I consider it the standard sweetness for when I make Tamago-yaki. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a shop outside Tsukiji market on Sunday morning. It was crowded because Toyosu market is closed on Sundays, but I was able to buy quickly. The taste was a bit too sweet for me, but it was reasonably priced, easy to eat, and overall good.

Terry Ito's family's famous shop, Marutake, run by his older brother Annie Ito, is known for its delicious tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette). It's the most popular tamagoyaki shop in the area. Along the same street, there are a few souvenir shops and food stalls lined up. They used to sell sweets made with eggs, but I'm not sure if they still do. I remember they were quite expensive. I enjoyed a freshly baked tamagoyaki on the spot and bought a half-size thick tamagoyaki for souvenirs. It has a gentle, sweet taste.

When you come to Tsukiji, one place you must visit is Marutake, a popular shop known for its delicious thick rolled omelettes. For just 100 yen, you can enjoy a tasty omelette cooked by skilled artisans, which is always crowded with people. The omelette is fluffy, warm, and full of flavorful dashi. The staff are also very friendly, making it a favorite spot for many. It is also known as the family restaurant of Terry Ito. If you come to Tsukiji, be sure to buy an omelette and enjoy eating while walking around.

After visiting Tsukiji Honganji Temple in Tsukiji, Tokyo, I went to Tsukiji Outer Market. It was a bustling Saturday with lots of tourists, and the streets were packed with people. It felt like a festival atmosphere. There were many shops lining the alleyways, selling seafood, dried goods, and sushi restaurants. The sushi restaurants, in particular, stood out with signs advertising tuna and sea urchin. Although I was tempted by the rich taste of sea urchin after having sushi at a famous Tsukiji restaurant earlier, the prices were shocking, so I resisted. I then visited Marubu 2nd store, a shop known for its tamagoyaki (Japanese omelette) and owned by Terry Ito's family, as seen on TV. The storefront was heavily promoting Terry Ito. The specialty here was the tamagoyaki, sold as a snack at this store, as opposed to the souvenir-sized ones at the main store next door. Since it was the first day of my trip, I decided to skip the souvenir and tried the snack-sized tamagoyaki instead. It was a fresh, 100 yen treat that was surprisingly larger than expected. Some might find it pricey for its size, but considering the convenience and various factors, I personally thought it was worth it. The taste was intensely sweet, perhaps due to Terry's comment about the family's tamagoyaki being overly sweet. It may sound exaggerated, but it might be the most delicious tamagoyaki I've ever had. If I could have it fresh again, I might just go back for the tamagoyaki alone.

My sister-in-law had a baby, so I went to Nagoya and just got back, sorry for the late update ❤ We went out as a family to celebrate Ina-chan's birthday and buy gifts, and decided to go to Tsukiji before we move. We were all excited, but ended up postponing it haha. We tried Terry's family's egg sweets, and realized that eggs are good, but sweets are different. We compared cheese flavor and chocolate flavor, and they came with lemon-flavored cream and regular cream. The cream itself was okay, but the datemaki was a bit too sweet and lacked delicacy, not leaving a lasting impression. Maybe it's worth trying once?

I enjoyed a delicious lunch at Tsukiji Sushizanmai and was heading towards Shinbashi to go to Haneda Airport when I came across Marutake, which I often see on TV. There was a long line of people waiting to eat freshly made items, so I decided to check out the displayed products. Unfortunately, the freshly made items were sold out by the time I got there. I ended up buying two regular small rolled omelets for 330 yen each and also bought a cooling bag for 150 yen (with a strong impact). The taste was rich and sweet, more like a dessert than a traditional rolled omelet. While it may not be to everyone's liking, when I gave it to someone from Kyushu, they were very happy and said, "I love sweet rolled omelets!"

Marutake is a tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette) specialty store with over 80 years of history. It is quite famous as the family business of the director Terry Ito. The store opens at 4 am every morning, with artisans starting to cook the eggs at 3 am. They use fresh eggs delivered daily from a contracted farm that raises chickens without any additives. Only a secret dashi (broth) is added to enhance the flavor. Each tamagoyaki is cooked individually in a frying pan, following the same traditional method since its establishment. The result is a glossy, ceramic-like appearance, with a gentle sweetness and a clear dashi oozing out. It is all thanks to the skill of the artisans who have passed down their techniques.

After having lunch at Tsukiji, I purchased a dessert I saw on TV from an egg omelette shop. I was expecting a rich, egg-based flavor, but the dessert turned out to be a thin, refreshing pastry, almost like a milk crepe. It came in a box with pre-cut slices, making it easy to share. I initially planned to save it for a snack, but once I realized it was more like a milk crepe, my dad and I couldn't resist and finished it all after our meal. It was delicious, easy to carry around, easy to share neatly, and I thought it would be perfect to buy and enjoy at home with friends who visit after showing them around Tsukiji. Thank you for the treat! ☆

<May 23rd> After eating sushi at "Tsukiji Uogashi Yokocho" in Tsukiji, I headed to the "Tsukiji Honganji Temple" that I wanted to visit. Before that, I stopped by the bustling outer market even on a city holiday. I was there to buy souvenirs from Tsukiji, such as "tamagoyaki" and "maguro". As I entered the outer market, I felt someone's unpleasant gaze since earlier. As I walked around, I found out the reason in front of "Marubu" where they sell tamagoyaki. It turns out, Terry Ito was staring at me from posters all over the place. I learned for the first time that Terry Ito's family runs a famous tamagoyaki shop! The sign was for Terry Ito's sweets made with Marubu's tamagoyaki, which are sold at "Tsukiji Marubu Tamagoyaki Sweets" nearby. Despite the slightly high price, I bought it out of curiosity due to its popularity. It's a small take-out specialty shop with only one female seller who was busy. A group of older men were buying up a storm at the same time. Well, we're all just human beings (laughs). ★"Tamagoyaki Sweets" (1,430 yen) I decided to purchase the most popular tamagoyaki sweets. It comes in an elegant and stylish paper bag and packaging, and they also provide dry ice. I couldn't resist taking a photo before tasting it! It's divided into six easy-to-cut pieces. It's a sweet treat with custard pudding and whipped cream sandwiched between crepe dough. The taste was a unique collaboration of tamagoyaki and sweets, making it a rare souvenir purchase. Other menu items include "half-cooked egg castella" and "ultimate egg tart".

Terry Ito's produced shop specializes in sweets made with Tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette) from Tsukiji Maru. The Tamagoyaki sweet costs 1,430 yen and comes in a high-quality handbag or box. When you open the box, you'll find it wrapped in film and divided into 6 pieces. It looks like a rolled Tamagoyaki from the top. This sweet is like a roll cake with Tamagoyaki filled with cream. The taste is a combination of Tamagoyaki and cream. In the center, there is custard pudding surrounded by cream. The outer layer is wrapped in crepe and sponge cake.

Terry Ito's older brother runs a tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette) shop known for its delicious tamagoyaki. They also offer tamagoyaki-based sweets, so I decided to visit the shop in Tsukiji. The shop is located four stores down from the main tamagoyaki shop, and it is dedicated to serving sweets only. You can easily spot the shop by the Terry Ito posters displayed inside. The signature sweet is a tamagoyaki-inspired dessert made with a central layer of pudding surrounded by whipped cream and sponge cake, all wrapped in crepe. The cream inside is delicious! It's a new and unique dessert that resembles a mix between crepe and roll cake. The prices are a bit high, but considering there are not many sweet options in Tsukiji, it could be a good choice for a souvenir.

I went to the rumored "Tamagoyaki Sweets" shop in the alley! The storefront is lined with TV show names that have been featured before. A poster of Chef Terry Ito in his chef attire also catches the eye. There are only a few types of products, and the words "Half-Cooked Tamago Castella" or "Ultimate Egg Tart" with "Limited to 18 pieces" confused me quite a bit... In the end, as a beginner, I decided to go with the "classic" option. It comes in a splendid boxed packaging. I thought it was already cut, but it turned out to be a "scored" line. It looks like a tamagoyaki, but tastes like... a "crepe"?? A "crepe" with whipped cream sandwiched in between. When you think about it, with the same ingredients, turning it into a "sweet" would probably end up like this. I was hoping for a slightly more interesting taste, so it was disappointing... I would love to try the other two if I have the chance.

On the way back from Tsukiji, I stopped by this place to pick up some souvenirs. It is located four shops west of Annie Ito's tamagoyaki shop. You can easily spot it by Terry Ito's sign. It's a small shop, specializing in take-out only, with no dining area. They also provide dry ice upon request. The menu offers only 4 items, all featuring tamagoyaki. I decided to try their signature tamagoyaki sweet. The tamagoyaki sweet cost 1,430 yen. The packaging is fancy, resembling high-end chocolates. Inside the box was a square roll cake-like treat wrapped in plastic. Cutting it open revealed layers of crepe and whipped cream, similar to a mille-feuille. The taste was decent, but nothing extraordinary. It's not bad, so it could be a good souvenir or conversation piece. The shop doesn't have long lines, so you can visit without much hassle. Visit date: May 14, 2011.

I received a sweet treat from my brother's wife who loves sweets♪ Terry Ito's family is famous for their Tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette) shop, and they also sell sweets made with eggs that are unique to a Tamagoyaki shop. What I received was a Cheese Stick (price unknown). It is in stick form, so you can eat it right away after buying it♪ It is a cheesecake wrapped in crepe. The cheesecake itself is rich with little acidity. It almost tastes like it has a strong egg flavor too (^-^; The image of it with the crepe peeled off looks just like a Tamagoyaki (lol). Other products they have include the following (for reference). Tamagoyaki Sweet ¥1500, which is 5 times the size of a roll cake and unbelievably labor-intensive. It has a smooth custard pudding in the center, surrounded by whipped cream, and a soft sponge cake baked to a pure white color, all wrapped in crepe. Size: 140×70×40mm, Weight: 250g. Egg Capsule ¥1000 (3 pieces), where you can freely add meringue and the taste evolves as you eat it. It consists of fragrant lychee liqueur meringue, a refreshing acidity 3-berry mix sauce (strawberry, blueberry, raspberry), and a smooth white chocolate raspberry mousse in a 3-layer harmony. Size: Diameter 60mm×Height 80mm/piece, Weight: 65g/piece. Egg Bomb ¥500, a carefully crafted item with a whole selected egg inside. It wraps a delicious boiled egg in a cinnamon-flavored dough and buttery pie crust, creating a unique and addictive taste. *This product is limited to the Tsukiji Marutake store. Size: 60×60×50mm, Weight: 120g. Personally, I really enjoyed the Cheese Stick, so I would like to try the limited Egg Bomb next time (^-^)

Terry Ito's family's tamagoyaki sweet, produced by Terry Ito. Soft-boiled egg castella~♪ Castella is so popular, right? Here is the full view that came out of the box. It's not squished at all (lol). Take a look at the cross-section of the 1/4 cut. Here is the appearance of the custard-flavored soft-boiled egg♪ Now, as for the taste... It's not as sweet as I thought, the soft-boiled part has a subtle egg flavor. The taste of the castella part is not very noticeable, it's quite light! If you like super sweet sweets, you might find it a bit lacking, but the fine texture of the castella makes it easy to eat without feeling stuck in your throat. Personally, I think it could be priced at around 700 yen instead of 1,000 yen? However, it could also be a nice party favor for a small group♪
