I had some errands in Shibasaki over the weekend, so I visited this place for lunch. It's a restaurant where you can enjoy kama-meshi (kettle rice) and yakitori. The yakitori, grilled over binchotan charcoal, fills the restaurant with a delicious aroma. It was just past lunchtime and the seats were almost full, but we were seated promptly. In addition to the classic kama-meshi, they also offer seasonal kama-meshi. Since it was my first visit, I opted for the easy kama-meshi lunch set. My companion chose the mixed five ingredients kama-meshi, while I went for the chicken soboro. The set included two side dishes, miso soup, and pickles. After ordering, we were served small dishes and rice bowls in wooden boxes. The kama-meshi arrived in less than 20 minutes after ordering. When we lifted the wooden lid, the steam rising from the kama-meshi looked incredibly appetizing. We couldn't wait to dig in. We decided to share and try each other's kama-meshi. The mixed five ingredients kama-meshi had chicken soboro, egg, shimeji mushrooms, green peas, and hijiki. Both kama-meshi dishes included pickled ginger and ginkgo nuts, which added a nice touch. The chicken soboro was well seasoned and delicious, with a hint of ginger aroma. The side dishes were boiled komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach) and tofu with a light vegetable sauce. Both were tasty, with the dashi broth being particularly refined. The miso soup contained wakame seaweed, green onions, and mitsuba (Japanese wild parsley), emphasizing the flavor of the broth. The crispy rice crust at the bottom of the kama-meshi was also a delightful treat. Overall, it was a simple yet delicious set. I look forward to trying their a la carte dishes, seasonal kama-meshi, and yakitori next time. I definitely want to visit again with my companion. Thank you for the meal.
