I went to the Harbor Gourmet for lunch on Tuesday. Since I have another gathering in the evening, I wanted something light. So, I decided to go for noodles instead of grilled dishes. Let's try the Hong Kong-style shrimp wonton noodle set, also known as "rubber band noodles." The set comes with a mini BBQ pork rice bowl. The BBQ pork seemed like it was microwaved and stuck together, but the shrimp wonton noodles were just as rubbery as expected. The shrimp wontons were bursting with shrimp flavor, almost like they were just shrimp. The wontons were delicious. It reminded me of the shrimp wonton noodles I had in Hong Kong about 25 years ago at Sun Hing Lung. The nostalgic feeling of eating deteriorated rubber bands was quite nice. It was very delicious. I am satisfied. (Reunion with an old friend!)

- When the day of exploring Ameyoko and Akihabara came to an end, I headed east to Asakusabashi. The distance I covered did not increase, and the stores seemed a bit dull. I noticed that the "Kaikou Bishoku" restaurant had changed, now serving Cantonese cuisine. It seemed like a place worth checking out. I remembered visiting a place called "Chuukain Izakaya Jikako" six years ago, but I hadn't been back since. It wasn't a bad experience, but I just didn't feel the urge to go back.
I struggled to find a restaurant that I wanted to revisit. I was intrigued by the idea of trying something new, perhaps a dish from the Cantonese cuisine menu. One of the options was Hong Kong noodles or Ho Fun. The prices were a bit on the higher side, but the place was almost full, with a mix of locals and tourists. I found a small table and placed my order, making sure to request the noodles to be cooked firm.
I ended up ordering the "Wonton Hong Kong Noodles" and the "Char Siu Bowl." The noodles were cooked just the way I liked them, and the soup had a nice umami flavor. The wontons were filled with shrimp and tasted delicious. The char siu in the bowl was different from what I had tried before, but it was well-cooked and flavorful. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the meal.
Overall, I had a good experience at this Cantonese restaurant specializing in Hong Kong noodles. The thin noodles were to my liking, and I made a mental note to recommend this place to others who enjoy them as well. Despite a past negative experience with wide noodles, I felt tempted to try the Ho Fun here based on the quality of the Hong Kong noodles. I left the restaurant feeling satisfied and looking forward to returning with friends in the future.

The Chinese restaurant located below Payao on the first floor. The previous shop was a bit difficult to enter, but the atmosphere has changed since it moved here. I ordered a set of Hong Kong-style noodles (thin noodles) with wonton and a mini char siu rice bowl. The restaurant has a cozy feel with limited seating and a good distance between tables. They accept electronic money such as PayPay, which is convenient. Now, onto the food. I took a sip of the soup. It has a slightly strong salty flavor, but it's a taste I like. The noodles are extremely thin and delicious. But the highlight is the wonton. It's a generous size with plenty of shrimp, and it's deliciously chewy. Thank you for the meal!

Order: Combination set of 2 dishes (Roast Duck, Roast Pork) for 1280 yen
Food and Drink Evaluation:
Roast Duck: The appearance is glossy and appetizing. However, when biting into a piece, there were mostly bones and very little edible meat besides the skin. The seasoning was not bad, but it was disappointing not to taste the flavor of the duck due to the abundance of bones.
Roast Pork: The skin looked crispy and crunchy, and the texture was interesting. The seasoning was good, and the sweetness of the pork fat was delicious. However, the sauce was too sweet and did not go well with rice.
Soup: A delicious soup with a gentle flavor that included beans.
Rice: The rice was dry and had a rough texture in some parts, making it not very enjoyable.
Ambiance and Service: The interior was typical of a Chinese restaurant and was clean. The service was decent.
Likelihood of revisiting: The Roast Pork was delicious, but the Roast Duck and rice were lacking, so I may consider visiting again if I feel like it.

Port Cuisine @ Asakusabashi - Flipping the Table with Char Siu Rice
The other day, I visited here and was amazed by the deliciousness of the grilled dishes. Unlike the Cantonese cuisine at Jinbocho, I came here to try the white-cut chicken. I ordered a combination of char siu and white-cut chicken rice. It's great that a soup is included as well. On this day, I also had yellow bean, radish, and lean meat. Now, here comes the dish - the white-cut chicken and char siu, both generous in portion. The scallion ginger oil may be a bit too strong, but the flavors are quite good. The white-cut chicken is cooked just right, with the bones around it properly reddened. It's tender and moist, just as it should be. The char siu is my favorite, with the fatty parts that I love. For those who don't like it, they can specify lean meat. The seasoning is not too sweet, making it perfect with the rice. Ah, it was delicious! They are open until 3 pm, which is convenient. Next time, I'll try the wonton noodles!

It was a fantastic find! We arrived before 6pm and were seated at a spacious table right away, with the staff being very friendly! I, as usual, ordered a non-alcoholic drink, just iced water. The wonton noodles for 1080 yen with thin noodles and a gentle soup were delicious! I also got the + set for 580 yen with pork, which was surprisingly delicious - crispy on the outside and juicy inside, a cooking style that is hard to replicate at home! The black sauce to dip in was also tasty!! It had a Cantonese cuisine vibe, and I definitely want to order more next time since it wasn't enough! The xiaolongbao for 560 yen was reliably delicious!! It goes well with the vinegar that was on the table. The tofu skin spring rolls for 560 yen were juicy and tasty, but a bit oily for my taste, so I probably won't order them again. The black fried rice for 1280 yen was a bit pricey but again, incredibly delicious with an authentic taste that I can't replicate at home, with large shrimp and the best texture in the char siu! A luxurious fried rice experience.

Today's lunch was at Asakusabashi Lunch at Kaikou Bishoku, where I had the Hiroshiki-style char siu and steamed chicken set! The char siu here is cooked in a pot, making it sweet, juicy, and delicious! The steamed chicken also goes well with the generous ginger sauce and tastes great. However, it was a bit difficult to eat because it was bone-in, so I had to eat it with my hands. But it was still good. The soup was also delicious with chicken broth. I enjoyed it. Thank you for the meal! #AsakusabashiLunch #KaikouBishoku

I went to a new restaurant called Kaiko Bishoku located near Asakusabashi Station, next to Nishiguchi Yakiton-ya and Higashi-ten. I ordered the Roast Duck Hong Kong Noodles. The roast duck came on a separate plate. The soup and thin noodles of the Hong Kong noodles were delicious, and I enjoyed the roast duck separately. I noticed they offer all-you-can-drink for 2000 yen, which could be useful for a neighborhood association drinking party.

I heard that a new Chinese restaurant with delicious grilled dishes has opened in Asakusabashi, so I decided to try it out. The name of the restaurant is "Kaikou Bishoku". I was tempted by the combination set of two grilled dishes for 1280 yen, but I ended up ordering the Stir-Fried BBQ Pork with Rice Noodles (1080 yen) and added a side of Roast Pork (580 yen). The Roast Pork arrived first. The skin was crispy and tasted delicious with the sweet bean sauce. The pickles were also tasty. Then, the Stir-Fried BBQ Pork with Rice Noodles arrived. It was a generous portion of flat rice noodles with a strong flavor, making me crave for a highball (450 yen). Nevertheless, it was delicious. They do not accept PayPay, but they do accept Rakuten Pay. The restaurant was bustling with Chinese customers, and many people were being turned away due to it being fully booked.

A little while ago in Asakusabashi, I had lunch at the newly opened Cantonese cuisine restaurant, Kaigang Meishoku. I ordered a combination of roast pork and roast duck. The roast pork had crispy skin and tender meat, which was delicious with sweet bean sauce. The roast duck was also tender and served with plum sauce. The light bean soup was also tasty. Before I knew it, the restaurant was full. I was the only Japanese person, everyone else seemed to be young Chinese people, probably students studying in Japan. Asakusabashi has many Japanese language schools, so it was a good find! #KaigangMeishoku #RoastPork #RoastDuck #AsakusabashiLunchClub

Port Cuisine @ Asakusabashi - Enjoying Roast Meat Rice in a Casual Setting
A new roast meat rice restaurant has opened in Asakusabashi, and upon hearing the news, I rushed over. It turns out to be a restaurant owned by someone who used to work at Yuet Keung Mei Sik, which has branches from Jinbocho to Ueno. The menu is quite similar. I tried the roast pork rice, and it was delicious. It was not as greasy as the one from Yuet Keung Mei Sik, which I appreciated.
First, I had the crispy roast pork, which was really good. The aroma and seasoning were just to my liking. The soy sauce chicken, on the other hand, had a weaker aroma, and I would give the upper hand to the one in Jinbocho. But having pros and cons is inevitable.
To be able to casually walk in and enjoy a double combo rice at such a reasonable price without prior planning is truly a blessing. It was so delicious! Next time, I will try the steamed chicken or the roast chicken rice, or maybe the shrimp wonton noodle soup!

I was attracted by the review from Mairevi-san and decided to visit for the first time. It stands out from the typical Chinese restaurants in town with its authentic approach. However, the prices are relatively reasonable. The grilled dishes in the evening set are also a good deal. The roast pork had a crispy texture, the steamed chicken was tender, and the roasted pork had great flavor. All of them were delicious. The amount and richness of the drinks were also great! Especially the Chinese liquor felt like good value for money. The customer service was also excellent. They rounded down the bill for us. I will definitely come back when I crave delicious grilled dishes. Thank you for the meal.

The second store of Guangdong-Hong Kong cuisine has a logo and menu that are quite similar, giving off a bit of a knock-off vibe. I decided to give it a try anyway. The grilled dishes are reasonably priced, so it would be unfair to compare them to those of high-end restaurants. Considering the price, there's nothing to complain about. The crispy grilled pork belly was not as good as some higher-end places, but that's to be expected. They also offer Cantonese-style soups like black-bone chicken soup. The chef is from Guangzhou and worked in Chinatown before joining Guangdong-Hong Kong cuisine, which explains the similarities in the names. It's nice that they use fewer artificial seasonings compared to Guangdong-Hong Kong cuisine (although they still use some, given the low prices). Overall, it's a good place for casual dining, without needing to get too dressed up.

I went there around 7 pm on Saturday. It seemed to be a newly opened restaurant and had already become a popular topic, so I decided to check it out. There were many Chinese customers, but the flavors were gentle and suited for Japanese people. The staff were warm and welcoming, making it a cozy place where I could see myself coming back every day. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I recommend the combination set where you can choose two main dishes. The meats had a shiny appearance and were delicious.
Ordered:
- Combination set of 2 types for 1280 yen: Roast Pork and Roast Duck. The Roast Duck had a nice smoky flavor and was enjoyed with sweet hoisin sauce. The Roast Pork had a crispy skin and tender meat inside, which was especially delicious. The portion sizes were generous and satisfying.
The cute waitress served the dishes with a smile.

We ordered a combination of four grilled appetizers and several types of dim sum, all of which were delicious. Unfortunately, we had to leave early because smoking was allowed. We would be happy to revisit once it becomes non-smoking.
