I came to Asakusa for a meeting with someone living in Gunma. The designated meeting place was a restaurant called "Panda." The location is on the 2nd floor of Hotel Sunroute Asakusa, located on the north side of Tokyo Metro Tawaramachi Station, along Kaminarimon Street. I was surprised that he knew this restaurant well, and when I asked, he said he was staying at the hotel above. That explains it. As I went up to the 2nd floor, the restaurant was quite spacious, with a layout resembling a family restaurant. The interior is Chinese-style, but surprisingly, there was a large table with several panda stuffed animals sitting on it. It's probably because the capacity is too big, but it's more interesting than just empty seats. Since it was a somewhat awkward time in the evening, we decided to have some drinks and food. The items we ordered were as follows: - Bang Bang Ji - Century Egg Tofu - Chinese Herbal Hot Pot We started with a light beer toast, and after the two appetizers, we had the "Chinese Herbal Hot Pot." It was quite fulfilling. The hot pot soup itself is free, with additional charges for the "dipping sauce" and ingredient menu. There is a wide variety of options, including lamb, beef, pork, offal, fish balls, seafood such as shrimp, squid, abalone, scallops, fish, crab claws, various vegetables, tofu, mushrooms, noodles, rice, and more. The soup contains six types of Chinese herbs: Fructus Corni, Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens, Radix Codonopsis, Longan, Lotus Seeds, and Wolfberries. The white broth soup indeed has a herbal aroma, and the spicy soup is hot and sharp. We mainly enjoyed seafood and vegetables, and finished with a porridge set. The quality was comparable to popular hot pot specialty stores, and it was quite delicious. For drinks, we switched to Shaoxing wine after beer, which ranged from 3 to 15 years old, providing a more enjoyable experience than your average Chinese restaurant. What stood out was the surprisingly empty restaurant for Asakusa. It may have been a coincidence, but being on the 2nd floor of the hotel, it's not very noticeable, and being a large Chinese restaurant, it probably doesn't get too crowded. Well, the fact that the pandas were occupying a table makes me pretty sure about that. The bill came to about 11,000 yen for two people. Thank you for the meal!
