On this day, I went to Ginza 1-chome for the first day of a course. However, before that, I wanted to try a restaurant called "Hachidaime Gihei" that I had been curious about for a while for lunch. Unfortunately, even though it was just past 11 o'clock, I was told that I could only enter after 12:40, so I had to give up. So, I went to another restaurant that I had not visited before. When I arrived, there were four people waiting in line in front of the store, and I became the fifth person in line. It seemed that the four people waiting were foreigners from Southeast Asian countries based on their language and atmosphere. After about 15 minutes, I was guided inside and purchased a ramen and tempura bowl set from the ticket machine before taking a seat. The restaurant had about 20 seats at the counter. The age range of customers was quite diverse, and foreign visitors were also noticeable. In just over 10 minutes, the ramen and tempura bowl set arrived. The ramen appeared to be based on tonkotsu broth. As expected, I tried the soup a few times. It felt slightly lacking for a Hakata-style ramen, but the addition of kelp and other dashi made it quite tasty. The noodles were thin and closer to flat noodles, lacking in firmness but had a good texture, although it definitely felt different from Hakata-style ramen. It should be considered as a separate type of tonkotsu ramen. The tempura bowl consisted of 3 prawns, fish, squid, shishito pepper, sweet potato, and instead of squid, it should have come with an egg tempura, but due to recent high egg prices, it seemed to have been replaced. The freshness of the ingredients was good, and the oil was also of good quality, resulting in an elegant finish, but the tempura lacked a bit of crispiness, so it would be better to eat the tempura on its own rather than in a bowl. The combination of tempura bowl and ramen was interesting, but both felt a little lacking. Thank you for the meal.
