I went to Jiro Maru after a long time. I used to go to the shop in Ikebukuro often, but since it closed down, I could only go occasionally. The meat is served one piece at a time, so you can savor it properly. The side dishes are also nice. I will definitely go again.

I visited towards the end of lunchtime. It was raining heavily and late in the day, so there was only one customer. As the name suggests, it is a standing-style restaurant. I ordered the Assorted Black Wagyu Beef (6 types) for 1760 yen and the Beef Tongue (3 types). The meat was quite delicious, and the cost performance was high. I would like to use it again as a quick yakiniku lunch option.

There are several types of lunch yakiniku set menus available, ranging from 1000 yen to 2000 yen. They typically come with bean sprout namul, rice, soup, oolong tea, and meat. It's nice that there is a lot of lean meat in the lunch yakiniku menu. The Japanese lean beef set costs 1210 yen (5 slices). Although there is sauce and lemon, I always eat it with lemon. Oh, it's delicious. I really like this place! Such a hidden gem!

Recently, I finally tried the lunch menu that I had been curious about for a long time. It's located in front of "Shibuya Mark City EAST", next to "Yokohama Family Ramen Samurai". On the 2nd floor, there is "Homemade Noodle Specialty Pasta". I made my debut at "Standing Yakiniku Jiro Maru Shibuya Store"!! Standing Yakiniku~. In front of me, there were beautifully displayed chunks of meat by cut. This time, it's not beef. I was so thirsty, so they brought me both oolong tea and cold water. Genghis Khan Set Menu 150g of Aged Belted Harami from Obihiro 990 yen Namul with salted bean sprouts. Soup with salt and pepper. Thinly sliced green onions and seaweed. Delicious rice with standing grains. And guess what, the lamb is domestic!! Marinated in homemade sauce. Topped with thinly sliced onions. Self-grilled on a roaster. Half lightly grilled, half well-done. Even when grilled strongly, it doesn't become tough and has a nice chewy texture. The lamb's unique taste is not noticeable, it's delicious~. The fruity sweet sauce goes well with it. I mix it with rice and eat at a fast pace. Genghis Khan made with Obihiro lamb loin. It uses unevenly cut scraps, so it can be offered at a very reasonable price. Of course, there may also be considerations for sourcing. On a Sunday in Shibuya, I was thinking about where to have lunch when I remembered a place called Jiro Maru that I had seen before. It used to have long lines because it was cheap and delicious. I ended up spending over 10,000 yen last time, so I hadn't visited since. It turns out they opened a branch in Shibuya. I was surprised to see that they offered a set meal for only 800 yen. I ordered some extra meat and filled up my stomach. If the prices were this reasonable before, I would have gone more often. It was delicious.

I've always been curious about this standing-style solo yakiniku restaurant! I wonder if it has always been here? I mustered up the courage to go in. It's a counter-only setup with a small grill for each person. In the showcase, the beautifully cut chunks of meat are neatly arranged by type, just like at a sushi restaurant. I ordered the recommended Miyazaki A4 rank premium kalbi set for 1650 yen. The set comes with bean sprout namul, rice, soup, and oolong tea. The meat for today was 3 slices of kalbi and 2 slices of sirloin. The kalbi was delicious! The balance of fat and meat was perfect. Good quality meat doesn't feel heavy on the stomach and has a great natural flavor. The sirloin, on the other hand, looked fatty, but it wasn't greasy at all. The soup had seaweed, leek, and bits of beef, and it was not your average seaweed soup. It had a great taste. I wish I could have more of it. If possible, I would love to mix the rice with this soup and make a porridge to eat. I definitely want to come back to this yakiniku restaurant. Highly recommended!

The cuts are divided into detailed parts, such as tongue tip and tongue base, and the staff will recommend the best cuts of the day. It's more about providing cuts of meat rather than traditional yakiniku, with the staff teaching you how to cook each type of meat. The seasoning is up to you, using the sauces and salts provided in front of you, which I found a bit lacking.

Located at the foot of Mark City in Shibuya, I visited this place when it first opened and remember how crowded it was. However, it seems to have calmed down now. The interior consists of only a counter, and the system of ordering one piece at a time is impressive. It feels like a good deal. I ordered the recommended dish of the day and harami, and enjoyed them while being taught how to cook them. The cost performance is quite good, although it's hard to say since you order one piece at a time (laughs). I wish there was a little more horumon, but overall, it was delicious. When both of my children left home and started working, my husband and I realized that we wouldn't have the opportunity to have yakiniku together anymore. So, I searched online for a standing yakiniku counter restaurant where I could go alone. I found a place where you can order high-quality meat by the piece, which seemed perfect for dining solo. As always, the staff asked me if it was my first time there, so this time I said it was my fourth visit. I started with a bottle of beer and then began ordering a variety of meats and side dishes while enjoying some drinks. I ordered a bottle of beer, two shochu highballs, kimchi, meat and potato salad, beef tripe, tongue base, honeycomb tripe, beef heart, beef tendon, crunchy cartilage, lamb, pork belly, tongue tip, cow stomach, brisket, belly plate, skirt meat, and shoulder triangle, totaling around 4000 yen for 15 meat items and 2 side dishes. It's a great place to dine alone, but it also caters to couples and foreigners (English menu available). The restaurant only has about 7 seats, so it's best to choose your timing wisely.

I used my flextime rights to quickly finish work and headed over here. The prices are cheap and the food is delicious! Adding a Hoppy set to the menu has increased the number of customers. It seems a bit harder to get a seat now compared to before, but as long as they keep it up, it's all good. This time, I had 3 slices of beef tendon for 90 yen, 1 cow's stomach for 50 yen, 1 spicy dish for 80 yen, 2 cow's brains for 100 yen, 2 slices of beef tendon for 60 yen, 2 pieces of beef tongue for 100 yen, a Hoppy set for 450 yen, and 2 medium beers for 400 yen. I have another place to go to next, so I'll save the rest for later!

Or your perfectly cooked meat might be snatched away by someone else. Dining at a yakiniku restaurant with others can be stressful. Going alone allows you to enjoy the perfect timing and cooking of your favorite meat stress-free. Despite this, there is often a resistance to dining alone at a yakiniku restaurant, perhaps due to the typical setup of tables for four people. That's where places like this come in, a paradise for solo diners. Standing with one grill per person, you can order meat by the piece and cook it quickly or slowly. When I visited, about 80% of the customers were women, and half of them were dining alone, making it truly a gateway to solo yakiniku dining. If you're used to standing sushi restaurants, the system is similar. Prices for different cuts of meat are listed, and the selection changes daily. Alcoholic beverages are also available. The brisket was the first dish we tried.
