When both of my children left home and started working, my husband and I realized that we wouldn't have the opportunity to have yakiniku together anymore. So, I searched online for a standing yakiniku counter restaurant where I could go alone. I found a place where you can order high-quality meat by the piece, which seemed perfect for dining solo. As always, the staff asked me if it was my first time there, so this time I said it was my fourth visit. I started with a bottle of beer and then began ordering a variety of meats and side dishes while enjoying some drinks. I ordered a bottle of beer, two shochu highballs, kimchi, meat and potato salad, beef tripe, tongue base, honeycomb tripe, beef heart, beef tendon, crunchy cartilage, lamb, pork belly, tongue tip, cow stomach, brisket, belly plate, skirt meat, and shoulder triangle, totaling around 4000 yen for 15 meat items and 2 side dishes. It's a great place to dine alone, but it also caters to couples and foreigners (English menu available). The restaurant only has about 7 seats, so it's best to choose your timing wisely.
