On holidays, I naturally find myself heading to a soba restaurant these days. I visited this place in Shimokitazawa, which I had been eyeing for a while. It's about a 10-minute walk from Inokashira Line's Ikejiri-Ohashi Station. Although I have driven by before, walking through the quiet upscale residential area was quite overwhelming. The restaurant is located on the opposite side of the temple, with a well-maintained courtyard that made me forget I was in Tokyo. What a wonderful location! Unfortunately, it was fully booked, with a waitlist of 3 groups ahead of me. They even provided insect repellent, which allowed me to relax and enjoy the surroundings. I entered the restaurant after about 15 minutes. The first floor was almost full, so I took off my shoes and went up to the second floor tatami seating area. Other customers seemed to prefer the course or sudachi soba, which is understandable as it's seasonal. I wanted to try some appetizers, so I ordered the following: plum wine, zaru tofu with green chili soy sauce, dashimaki tamago two kinds mori, and cold beverages (I resisted sake this time). The plum wine by Ibooru was delicious, with a balanced sweetness and mild acidity. The zaru tofu, initially seasoned with salt, allowed me to savor the sweetness of the soybeans. Adding the green chili soy sauce provided a spicy kick that complemented the dish well. The dashimaki tamago was a classic style, not too sweet, with just the right balance of grated radish and soy sauce. After savoring these appetizers, I moved on to the Saitama Miyoshi soba, starting with salt seasoning. It had a subtle aroma and sweetness, suitable for everyone. The second serving was Ibaraki Hitachi soba, which was sweeter than the first one. I finished both servings quickly with salt and soba dipping sauce. Although I was tempted by the sudachi soba, I was dining alone this time, so I decided to end my meal there. I'll have to come back during the summer season to try it. I had known about this restaurant for a while but was hesitant to visit due to its location. The second-floor tatami seating area was only half full, and it seemed that the restaurant focused more on providing a relaxed dining experience rather than quick turnover. The staff were polite and attentive, creating a leisurely dining atmosphere. When settling the bill, they apologized for not seating me on the first floor, but I actually preferred the second-floor tatami seating. Although the transportation to the restaurant in Daizawa is not the most convenient, the fantastic location and delicious soba made it all worth it. The relaxed atmosphere felt like a soba restaurant in a summer resort, evoking nostalgic memories of my childhood. The restaurant has been open for 17 years, not exactly a long-established place, but it proves that delicious soba restaurants can be found even if they are not steeped in history. It was a very pleasant walk and a rewarding dining experience before heading to work. I enjoyed it so much that I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Visit: Visited around 14:40 on Sunday. The restaurant is open from noon until night. There was one customer already seated when we arrived, and they offered us chilled water while we waited. The garden outside had a lot of greenery, but also many insects, so there were multiple mosquito coils and insect repellent sprays available. We waited for about 20 minutes before being seated, and there was a constant line of customers coming in. About 25% of the customers were tourists from overseas, 25% were couples or friends, 25% were families, and 25% were men coming for drinks. Order: We ordered the 3,000 yen course menu, and also added duck soba without a reservation. Service: Depending on the order, there was a 20-30 minute wait before we received the soba broth and condiments. Then came the tempura, followed by the soba, and finally a dessert. It felt like a bit of a long wait, especially as the customers who arrived before us had already finished their meals and left by the time we got our food (we had ordered a set for sampling three different kinds of soba). Food: The tempura, especially the okra and scallops, were large and had a great texture and flavor. All the ingredients were of high quality, so it was best enjoyed with just a bit of salt. The duck soba had a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness in the broth, and could be enjoyed on its own. The duck meat was cooked just right, with a tender texture. The pudding with a hint of sweet sake flavor was a unique and delightful dessert, with a lovely combination of flavors with the red bean paste. Overall, the food was delicious and we enjoyed the atmosphere, but considering the price and wait time, I don't think I would deliberately choose to come back here. Thank you for the meal!

On a certain day in September, I visited the autumn festival at Kitazawa Hachiman Shrine, known for its bustling procession of 23 mikoshi (portable shrines) and taiko drums. While there, I decided to have lunch at Uchimune Soba. The restaurant is located near Kitazawa Hachiman Shrine, somewhere between Shimo-Kitazawa and Ikenoue stations. It was a weekend around 12 o'clock, so there was a wait of about 3-4 groups. Despite being a popular spot, the turnover was good due to the spacious seating, and we were able to enter after a 15-minute wait. The restaurant is a large house with a wide courtyard, creating a tranquil and cozy atmosphere reminiscent of Kyoto. The soba here is delicious, and the duck dishes are a must-try. The variety of other side dishes is also impressive and enjoyable. Starting with a beer to wet the throat, I was entertained by the lively recommendations of the hospitable hostess. Today we had duck roast, duck liver, tempura of shishito peppers and new lotus roots, tempura of conger eel with sansho pepper soy sauce, and dashimaki tamago. The roast duck had a perfect balance of Japanese seasoning and the natural umami of duck meat, making it incredibly delicious. The duck liver was also a great accompaniment to drinks. I particularly liked the dashimaki tamago here, with a subtle dashi flavor that complemented the fluffy egg. For the main soba dishes, we tried sudachi soba, cold soba with Kujo negi (green onion), and dipping soba with grilled eggplant and moroheiya. The freshly boiled soba had a smooth and refreshing texture. Surprisingly, my favorite part of the meal was the soba-yu (soba dipping broth) at the end - a thick, creamy broth that was incredibly satisfying when dipped with a little tsuyu and salt. It was a delightful dining experience!

I had some delicious soba noodles. The soba noodles were great, but the broth was especially delicious! When I drank the soba broth at the end, it added a smoothness that was delicious. The restaurant was popular, with about 4 groups in line before me.

I visited the restaurant before 7:00 PM. About 80% of the seats were taken. I was seated by a staff member who presented me with the menu. I ordered grilled conger eel with fragrant vegetables, seared chicken with sesame miso salad, cold soba noodles with walnut dipping sauce, and soba noodles with sudachi citrus. The grilled conger eel was delicious with tender meat and a rich flavor. The seared chicken with sesame miso salad was a perfect combination of chicken and sesame miso that spread a savory taste in my mouth. The cold soba noodles with walnut dipping sauce had a refreshing texture and a delightful walnut aroma. The soba noodles with sudachi citrus had a subtle sudachi fragrance and a smooth texture, making it a perfect dish for a hot summer day. I enjoyed the delicious food very much. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant for the Sudachi soba pilgrimage again this year. I remember the first time I visited was about five years ago. Even though it's just a short walk from the main street, I was surprised by the atmosphere that felt like a different world. Since then, every summer I make sure to come and enjoy the Sudachi soba. When I passed through the entrance curtain, I could smell the mosquito repellent. I sat on a chair in the garden and waited for my turn. The sound of cicadas and passing showers made me happy, and even though it's in the city, only here the air feels different. Soon, I was called inside. The staff at this restaurant always provide polite and pleasant customer service, which I appreciate. I wanted to start with a cold beer, but unfortunately I had come by car that day, so I had to settle for tea. I ordered the tempura and soba course. The tempura included a five-piece assortment of vegetables and fish (soba is available for an additional charge, and you can request your favorite toppings like Sudachi). It also came with a sweet dipping sauce, which added to the satisfaction. As I sipped on hot tea, the tempura arrived. The freshly fried tempura was crispy and delicious. Ah, I really wanted that beer (laughs). And finally, the long-awaited Sudachi soba. The thinly sliced Sudachi arranged neatly on top was beautiful. I like when the Sudachi is thin because I want to eat several slices of it. I closed my eyes and savored the taste of the thin soba noodles with the tangy cold broth. It was truly delicious. Enjoying a moment of refreshment with the Sudachi soba, when I stepped outside, I somehow felt the late summer. It was a beautiful summer afternoon, with the traces of a passing shower making it feel like the ground had been watered. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal ♡

I went with my friends on a very hot midsummer day. We visit every year for the limited summer menu. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is calm, and the refreshing dashi with a hint of bitterness was delicious. The sudachi was very tasty. Looking forward to coming back next year.

Opened in 2006, "Dashing Soan" is a stylish soba restaurant located south of Shimokitazawa Station, across from Moriyasuji Temple. Surrounded by greenery and with a Japanese garden, this restaurant offers a sophisticated and serene atmosphere for enjoying soba. The name "Dashing Soan" is said to be from the Akutagawa Prize-winning author Jinsei Tsuji, who used to live nearby. The "Three Types Mori" set for 2,300 yen includes shrimp and vegetable tempura (small) for 1,350 yen. It allows you to compare and enjoy soba from different regions: the 100% soba from Narita, the autumn soba from Hitachi, and the 100% soba from Saitama's Miyoshi. Each soba has its own unique characteristics, with Narita's soba being rich in flavor, Hitachi's soba being fresh and sweet, and Miyoshi's soba being soft and rounded. The soba is served with a flavorful and rich broth. The tempura includes shrimp, green beans, turnips, and eggplants, each with a light and fresh batter. The atmosphere at Dashing Soan allows you to forget the hustle and bustle of Shimokitazawa and enjoy delicious soba in a quiet and elegant setting. It can get crowded on weekends, so making a reservation might be a good idea. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I visited on a hot summer day. Enjoying delicious food and sake while looking at the lush garden is the height of luxury. The menu includes appetizers, chilled dishes, sashimi, grilled dishes, tempura, soba, and dessert. In summer, nothing beats chilled soba with sudachi citrus.

I visited a soba restaurant that I had been curious about for a while. I ordered the 3000 yen cherry blossom course. The soba had a strong flavor and a good texture. The tempura was crispy and delicious, freshly made. The dessert at the end was not too sweet, leaving a refreshing feeling in the mouth. It was a satisfying course overall.

I visited the restaurant before 6 pm on Saturday. Luckily, there were empty seats so I was seated right away. It was a hot day, so I ordered some fresh sake, green soybeans in broth, and corn and onion tempura, perfect for summer. The cold sake was served in a tin sake pitcher, which looked cool. I enjoyed sipping on cold sake and snacking on soybeans while relaxing and looking at my phone in the cool atmosphere of the restaurant. I noticed there were many foreigners in the restaurant. The restaurant is located in a quiet residential area in Shimokitazawa, with a calm ambiance and a view of a garden, which was very soothing. Lastly, I ordered soba noodles. They were out of the autumn soba from Hitachi, so I had fresh flour soba instead. The soba had a great flavor with less binder, and even just with salt, it was delicious. I finished with soba-yu (hot water used to rinse the soba bowl) which was also tasty. Thank you for the meal.

There is a Hachiman Shrine nearby. There is also a solemn shrine. Across from it, there is a soba restaurant. I have a feeling that soba near a shrine is delicious. It is a very atmospheric soba restaurant. I had the Sakura course for 3000 yen, which includes tempura, soba, and a dessert. The tempura was luxurious with five kinds: whiting, lotus root, scallop, eggplant, and pumpkin. I enjoyed them with coarse salt or dipping sauce. The soba was thinly cut like a work of art, with a great texture. Lastly, I had soba dumplings with black syrup as dessert. Enjoying the soba while feeling the summer sunlight through the window and hearing the cicadas outside, it felt like a reward to myself, savoring the season.

"Uchigokoro Soba in Shimokitazawa is a place I've been longing to visit. The sudachi (citrus fruit) soba I chose was perfect for a hot day, with its refreshing and smooth texture. The slight bitterness added a nice touch. The restaurant was just as wonderful as I had imagined. If you have any recommended soba shops, please let me know!"

I have never had such elegant soba before! I tried the soba with Kujo green onions. The simple yet firm flavor of the soba paired perfectly with the abundant green onions, making it delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also nice, with a pleasant woody scent that made it cozy.

I had the pleasure of enjoying delicious sudachi soba at the elegant soba restaurant Sobaan in Shimokitazawa. The carefully deseeded and thinly sliced sudachi paired perfectly with the gentle soba broth. The combination of sudachi's acidity and the bitterness of the peel made me finish the dish before I knew it. Don't forget to have some soba-yu to finish off the meal. The atmosphere of the restaurant, which is not typical of Shimokitazawa, is quite charming. If you sit by the window, you can enjoy your soba while looking at the garden. The restaurant focuses on the four aspects of the soba world: freshly ground, freshly made, freshly boiled, and freshly harvested. Although it's a bit of a walk from the station, the ambiance created here is truly impressive. Personally, I think it's great for lunch, but coming here at night to enjoy some drinks is highly recommended. The soba is excellent, and the tempura is also superb. Be sure to visit and you won't regret it. Just a 10-minute walk from the station. Follow me on Instagram! https://www.instagram.com/tokyo_messi Located in Shimokitazawa, there is a renowned soba restaurant called "Uchishin Sobaan". The exterior resembles a traditional Japanese restaurant, and on this particular day, there was a long line outside due to the holiday. I tried their summer specialty, "Sudachi Soba", which features a strong bonito broth with the refreshing acidity and aroma of sudachi citrus, perfect for cooling down in the summer heat. They also offer a unique soba called "Hitachi Aki Soba", made with 100% soba flour and a hint of buckwheat husk for a chewy texture. This soba experience is not easily found in Tokyo. The charming female owner provides excellent service with a soft demeanor and lively conversation, enhancing the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. It's a wonderful soba shop that will make you want to come back again and again.

Sudachi soba looks great and is perfect for this hot season, but I wouldn't recommend it if you want to enjoy the aroma of soba. I suggest ordering zaru soba to fully appreciate the aroma and taste of the soba itself. The side dishes were also very delicious. I would like to come back at night next time and try various items.

Visited the soba restaurant "Dashing Soan" in Shimokitazawa, known for its soba. Reservations are required for courses, so I called about a week in advance to secure a spot. The restaurant is tucked away in a quiet area, a short walk from the station, with a striking entrance that stands out among the surrounding houses. Nearby in Setagaya Daita, there is a sister restaurant specializing in chicken dishes called Gasshin Yu-an, which opened in 2021. Upon entering the gate, a vast garden occupies about two-thirds of the property, offering different views depending on the season. However, the garden itself doesn't seem to be designed for strolling, appearing more like a decorative feature in the front. The interior, while the second floor seemed closed at night, had tables on the first floor with a glass facade, providing a nice view of the garden during the day. The kaiseki course included: - Scallop and seasonal vegetable vinegar jelly - Assorted appetizers - Yuba tofu - Seasonal vegetable ohitashi - Marinated herring - Grilled chicken with vinegar miso - Sweet shrimp soy sauce pickle - Sashimi and soba sushi - Grilled sea bream - Duck dish - Tomato sorbet - Tempura (prawn, vegetables, soba) - Dessert (soba mochi, blancmange with sake lees) - Additional dish of striped jack and cucumber with green chili miso dressing Overall, while it was a soba restaurant, the focus was on the kaiseki course, so the soba itself was just a brief part of the experience. Some dishes had a noticeable earthy taste from mountain vegetables, but nothing particularly stood out. The experience of pouring shochu over sudachi and ice on a large plate was interesting. Next time, I might try dropping by without a reservation to enjoy a hearty soba meal. Thank you for the meal.

It's hard to feel 100% energetic on a rainy day, but visiting this place surrounded by beautiful greenery glistening in the rain feels like stepping into a different world. The soba noodles were delicious, and the tempura was excellent. The woman who always serves us is like a calming goddess. This time we visited during the day, but next time we'll come in the evening!

There was such a place in Shimokitazawa. When you enter the shop and look at the garden, it feels like a Kyoto-style shop with a cozy atmosphere. The burdock tempura has a crispy texture and is light and delicious. The sudachi soba is delicious first and foremost. The soba has a good texture and is slightly slippery. I even ate all the sudachi. Both dishes have a refined taste that is not too strong. It seems that reservations are required for the course menu only. Even if you drop by and wait for 30 minutes, I think this shop will surely satisfy you.
