When it comes to kushikatsu and kushikatsu, I only have an image of casual eateries. Today, I was taken to a high-end kushikatsu restaurant. It can be found in Ginza or Shinbashi. It's located on the 3rd floor of a building in a narrow alley in the 8th district. A bit hard to find, but that's part of the charm, right? It's like a hidden gem. Inside, there's a counter with a luxurious atmosphere, reminiscent of tempura or sushi restaurants. It feels like a set from a drama. Oh, right, today is about kushikatsu... I was a bit surprised because I only had the image of casual eateries. They serve continuously until you tell them to stop, so I came prepared by not eating anything since morning. I only had tea and I'm ready for this night. I must go all the way. There's a battle I cannot afford to lose here. (Who am I battling with? haha) First, they served a bottle of Koshu white wine. It's refreshing and slightly sweet, and I can't help but drink it all up. - Seasonal Vegetables with Umeboshi dressing, which is unusual but surprisingly delicious. You can have seconds. They seem to carefully select the vegetables, bringing out their natural deliciousness with umeboshi. - Kushikatsu They serve various kushikatsu, such as Chateaubriand, bluefin tuna sushi katsu, carabinero prawn, foie gras, caviar, sea urchin, and seasonal ingredients, about 25 in total. My personal favorites were the Chateaubriand from Yamagata beef, juicy inside the crispy coating. The bite-sized portion is perfect. They even serve sushi as kushikatsu. Instead of rice, the shari is deep-fried, topped with tuna. There's an interesting combination of kombu, sea urchin, and caviar. A luxurious dish where everything is deep-fried on a skewer. Eating it in one bite is pure bliss. There are various ingredients deep-fried on skewers, making it a fun dining experience. Despite eating a lot, I didn't feel heavy at all. Maybe oil is the key. The restaurant is beautiful with a great atmosphere. I'd love to visit again. Check out my Instagram @erizo0012 for more!
