Exploring Tokyo's gourmet scene! Shinjuku Ward, Higashi-Shinjuku Edition. Popular dishes include Hormone Soup and Nejangtan. Visited the popular restaurant "Yangpyeong Hejang" for the first time! On a slightly chilly day in early winter, I felt like stretching my legs and having something warm to eat, so I headed to this restaurant I had been checking out. Located in Higashi-Shinjuku, just a 5-minute walk from Higashi-Shinjuku Station along Meiji Street and then turning towards Okubo Street, the restaurant's flashy sign on the second floor of a building caught my eye. Established in 2003, this Korean restaurant has been in business for about 20 years, serving a popular Korean soup dish called Nejangtan, which is traditionally consumed in Korea as a hangover cure. Their specialty dishes include Hormone Soup and Nejangtan. Visited the popular restaurant "Yangpyeong Hejang" for the first time at 11:30 am. The restaurant was almost full, but there were seats available at the counter. Without hesitation, I ordered the signature Nejangtan for ¥1000. After a 5-minute wait, a set meal with rice and side dishes was served on the table. The Nejangtan came with homemade spicy miso paste for extra heat. The Kakuteki was generously filled with lots of ingredients and had a perfect level of spiciness. The Moyashi Namul had a crunchy texture and was delicious. Soon after, the piping hot Nejangtan arrived, topped with ground perilla powder, green onions, and bean sprouts. The soup had a tail soup flavor and was filled with plenty of hormone, hachinosu, gialla, and senmai. The rich flavor of the hormone and the saltiness were excellent, and it was refreshing and delicious. The generous amount of bean sprouts added a nice crunch to the dish. The combination of the four types of hormone and bean sprouts in the soup was incredibly delicious. Adjusting the spiciness with the homemade chili miso paste added another layer of deliciousness. A staple for Koreans, this dish seemed like a good choice for curing a hangover or just for its health benefits. The taste here suited my liking, and I would love to come back to try other menu items. An addictive and excellent dish with outstanding flavor! Definitely coming back for more! Delicious and exquisite!

A cheap place to drink from a bottle. We stumbled upon this place as our second stop while walking around. It seemed like they might serve yakitori at first, but we were looking for something lighter. Turns out they only sell makgeolli by the bottle, but surprisingly we managed to finish it between the two of us. No need for any unnecessary fuss.

I wanted to drink delicious jjigae soup, so I entered this restaurant that I had saved. It seems that a second building has been added, and although it was fully booked at 9 p.m. on Saturday, I was able to enter the second building right away. Inside the restaurant, customers were speaking Korean. I hesitated but ordered the ox bone soup and ginseng chicken soup (half portion) along with a bottle of raw makgeolli. The raw makgeolli was served in a pot, making me unsure if there was really a whole bottle in it (laughs). The complimentary side dishes were all delicious! The pickled radish was a bit sour. The kimchi was super fresh and crunchy. Of course, the seasoned bean sprouts were also good! The ox bone soup was excellent, the soup was amazing! I'm not sure if they put the oxtail in hot water without washing it and froze it, but it was a bit firm and had a slight aroma. The ginseng chicken soup, even in half portion, had a sufficient amount! The meat was tender and very delicious. It was just full of volume! It might be good to come with a large group of people. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal! I will come again!

I ordered half and half of Nejangtang and Songjitan with a glass of draft beer. Although I am tempted by other menu items, I always end up ordering the same thing. It's a taste that I crave regularly. The soup is deeply flavorful and the sauce for dipping the Nejangtang and Songjitan is surprisingly delicious. The pickled vegetables are also well-marinated and slightly sour, which I enjoy. I always wish they had a half-size option for the soup and the jeon. It was a hot day, but the piping hot soup and the flavorful horumon helped me cool down.

Order: I visited during the lunch rush, around the same time as Half Half Open! A few minutes later, it was full, so you may have to wait at certain times. It had a lot of hormones and sundae, plenty of vegetables, and even just the soup was filling! It's nice that Korean food comes with small side dishes, right?

This is a very authentic Korean restaurant. It's a bit of a walk from Shin-Okubo Station, and it was raining and a little cold when we went, so I felt really happy when we arrived at the restaurant and were able to order the spine hot pot. The portion was so big that we accidentally ordered too much for 3 people and ended up taking 2 dishes home. The cost performance is also very good. I will definitely come back next time.

Based on a recommendation from a Korean friend, I went for Sunday lunch. We arrived at 11:30 when the restaurant opened at 11, and we were lucky to get the last table. It's better to arrive early if you're going in a group. If you're dining alone, sitting at the counter seems like a good option. The Nejangtang, a famous dish, was delicious - it's a kind of hormone soup. Many people order the lunch set with rice and soup, but we decided to order a la carte to try different dishes. The Togani Chim, made with beef Achilles tendon and a special sauce, was tasty. The Bossam had thick slices of meat and was satisfying. However, both dishes were a bit pricey at around ¥2500 each. We also had the Solontang soup and each had two drinks, spending around ¥4000 per person. It felt a bit expensive for lunch. Overall, it might be better to go for a quick soup at a street stall on Ikemen Street for better value. They also had some unique dishes like Aguchim besides the popular ones. It might be better to just have the soup quickly and leave.

When I arrived around 12 o'clock in the afternoon, there was already a long line. I waited for 45 minutes, but I was able to order while waiting in line, so the food came out quickly once I sat down. The Nejangtang was incredibly delicious, with lots of hormones in it. The Chijimi was also very tasty. If I have the chance to go to Shin-Okubo again, I definitely want to visit this restaurant.

Near Higashi Shinjuku Station, a popular Korean restaurant for lunch. After completing my health check-up this year, I am finally having my first meal in 16 hours. I am looking forward to trying out Yangpyeong (a place name) for its healthy soup dishes. While the classic beef soup was tempting, I decided to challenge myself with the organ soup here! I ordered the combination of Nejang (beef intestines) and Songji (coagulated blood of the cow) soup, along with rice, bean sprout namul, pickled vegetables, and dipping sauce. The soup arrived bubbling hot in a stone pot after about 5 minutes. I let it cool down a bit while taking some photos, and then finally dug in after mixing in the sesame seeds on top. The soup was delicious, with layers of flavor and a clear taste that was different from Japanese cuisine. The beef intestines were plentiful and the coagulated blood added a unique texture. I enjoyed adjusting the spiciness with the condiments on the table. The Songji had a great texture and was the best I've ever had. Even though the meal came with rice, I was so captivated by the soup that I ended up with a lot of leftover rice at the end. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I ordered Pyodagihjejangk. At first, I thought there were three large backbones in it, but unfortunately, there was hardly any meat, about 95% to 97% bone. It was disappointing. The sauce to eat with meat was delicious. Many people seemed to leave the white rice uneaten.

It was a warm and happy Korean meal. I'm not sure if it was the real deal, but I was satisfied with what I expected from Korean cuisine. The fried cheese chicken was surprisingly delicious, the cartilage was just right for me, the pancake was above average, almost like the ones in Korea. The blood sausage was average.

Located in Shin-Okubo, this Korean restaurant serves delicious hormone soup. The name of the restaurant, Hejangk, comes from the Korean "hangover soup." I have visited this place many times, but I have never ordered anything from the "healthy menu" on the left side of the menu. This time, I decided to try the "Toganitan" (1300 yen) from that section. Toganitan is a soup made from simmering cow knee cartilage. The seasoning is simple, with ingredients like garlic, ginger, jujube, and Korean ginseng. In addition to the usual kakuteki and bean sprout namul, it also comes with white cabbage kimchi. The knee cartilage is soft and collagen-rich. After eating the ingredients, I added kimchi and rice to make a soup and finished it. Korean soup rice is perfect for recharging your energy. I will definitely go back again.

Shin-Okubo, close to Shinjuku and East Shinjuku, is known for its famous Korean restaurant, "Yangpyeong Hejangk." They serve a soup called "Nejangtan" filled with plenty of hormone and offal. The soup is delicious, with a strong garlic flavor, large portions of namul and kaktugi banchan (side dishes). The Nejangtan arrives bubbling hot with a generous amount of hormone and crunchy bean sprouts in a flavorful sweet soup. The sauce for dipping the hormone in the soup has a nice acidity and garlic flavor. You can also add a pot of spicy garlic for extra flavor. The restaurant is popular among solo female diners and even has a lunch special until 3 PM. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the Korean atmosphere makes dining here a pleasant experience in Shin-Okubo. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a visit at least twice a month if you live nearby.

I visited this highly recommended restaurant for the first time with a friend. It was packed as soon as it opened at 11 o'clock. I ordered the popular Nejantan (1000 yen including tax). The rice in a silver case and side dishes were lined up. In just 5 minutes, the piping hot Nejantan arrived. The slightly spicy soup, said to be good for hangovers, was light but full of flavor. The hormone dishes like senmai and hachinosu had no unpleasant smell and had a nice crunchy texture. There were plenty of bean sprouts and green onions. The additional red chili pepper for seasoning, as well as the side dishes of Chinese cabbage kimchi and kakuteki, were delicious with a hint of acidity. It felt like I was eating something good for my body, and my heart and stomach were satisfied.

The restaurant is like Korea itself, it's so delicious!! There is a counter so it's easy to dine alone even at night. The Nejangtang and bone-in meat are piled high, and the Pyodak is fantastic. The variety of offal has no unpleasant smell at all, and it tastes delicious when dipped in spicy sauce. The soup has a rich flavor that is addictive. The first bite is so impressive!! While trendy restaurants are good, I also recommend trying the authentic flavors of Korea!

A Korean restaurant in Shin-Okubo known for its delicious hormone soup. The name of the restaurant, Hejang, comes from a Korean hangover soup. In March, I had Hejang for the first time this year, going back to basics with Nejangtan. During lunchtime, you can get rice included for only 1000 yen, making it a great deal. I enjoyed waiting with bottled beer, bean sprout namul, and pickled vegetables. The bubbling Nejangtan arrived. Oh yes, dipping the offal in the sauce and having it with beer is just the best. Sometimes I also had rice, and in the end, I mixed it all together to finish the meal. A dish that gives you energy.

I went to a Korean restaurant called Yangpyeong Hejangk located about an 8-minute walk from Shin-Okubo Station on the JR Yamanote Line. I had a meeting nearby in the late morning, so I finished around early afternoon and decided to go there. The previous night I had been drinking, so this restaurant immediately came to mind. The place was crowded even during lunchtime in Shin-Okubo, which was surprising. Whenever I come here, I always order the Nejangtang. It's a light soup made with tripe, intestines, and cow stomach that is cooked for a whole day. The soup is delicious, and as you eat, you start sweating and feel detoxified. You can dip the offal in the sauce or just eat it with the soup - both ways are good. The soup and the offal are really delicious. The complimentary daikon kimchi and bean sprout namul are also tasty! However, although the taste remained the same and delicious, I felt like there was less offal compared to before, maybe due to rising prices, which was a bit disappointing.

This was my second visit. I heard that the Nejangtang is famous, but this time I tried the Ugojikalbitang. The chijimi was delicious too, and I want to try all the soups! I haven't eaten much Korean food, but out of what I've had in Japan, I think this is the most delicious.

A few years ago, I went to this place at night and it was delicious, so today I went to Yangpyeong for a quick lunch at Junk Restaurant. I arrived around 12:15 on a Saturday afternoon and found a long line of people waiting to go up to the second floor entrance. Despite the line, I decided to wait. Surprisingly, I got a seat inside in about 15 minutes. I chose the "Galbi Ugojitan" with rice. It's a dish with beef ribs and dried white cabbage stew. They serve it with Namul and Kakuteki on the side, along with a sauce that you can add to your meat. The sauce tasted like a sweet and sour miso vinegar, a unique flavor. After waiting for about 5 minutes, the piping hot Galbi Ugojitan arrived in a bubbling hot pot, with three large pieces of beef ribs and plenty of stewed dried white cabbage. It was topped with lots of chopped green onions. It was extremely hot, perfect for warming up on a chilly day. It was so delicious, with a rich beef broth flavor and a strong white pepper taste. The well-cooked beef ribs were tender and juicy, and the stewed white cabbage was soft and flavorful. I enjoyed dipping the rice into the soup, and the crunchy bean sprout Namul and tangy Kakuteki were a great palate cleanser. I devoured the meal quickly because it was so tasty. It was a satisfying and delicious meal.

Nejang is a hangover cure soup in Korean. I tried it because I drank a lot yesterday. It was made with half nejang (intestines) and soondae (blood sausage). It tasted similar to Korean flavors, and I would recommend it to Japanese people since soondae may not be commonly eaten in Japan. Personally, I think the texture and taste are like boiled eggs. It's not spicy, but it's a dish that some people in Korea like and some don't.

I waited about 15 minutes to enter the restaurant for lunch on a regular day. While waiting, they took my order. This time, I ordered the most popular dish, Nejangtan. Nejangtan is a soup with various types of offal. First, a silver container with rice, Kakuteki, and Namul was brought to me. The Kakuteki and Namul had an authentic taste. After about 5 minutes, the bubbling Nejangtan arrived. It had more offal than I expected and was full of ingredients. Offal tastes even better when dipped in mustard soy sauce! Once I had eaten a bit, I added rice to make it like a porridge and finished it all! The restaurant is located a bit away from Shin-Okubo, and it may not be the type of dish that looks good on social media, but the taste is definitely worth lining up for, as many Korean people do. I would like to try other menu items next time.
