It's the beginning of autumn. The mornings and evenings have become quite comfortable. It's still hot during the day. I'm in Asakusa for work. I passed through Nakamise Street and headed straight to Hangetsudo, where there was already a line of about 15 people. I finally got my hands on a jumbo melon bread for 280 yen and devoured it in no time. The bread was fluffy and soft, and I can see why it's so popular.

Strolling around Asakusa. Ate monjayaki in Asakusa, and on the way back, had a little treat. I bought it with the image of a cream puff, but of course, it's different, haha. It's a melon bread, so the surface of the dough is crispy, which makes the texture interesting! It also has a satisfying chewiness. It's good for snacking when you're tired from walking. It's quite filling, so sharing it might be a good idea. Thank you for the meal.

I always used to pass by the melon bread shop on a side street off Nakamise Street because there was always a long line. But on this day, there was no line at all and I was able to buy three for 700 yen with a 50 yen discount. The melon bread looked like a typical one, but the outside was moist with a slightly crispy texture, while the inside was fluffy and not too sweet. It was very easy to eat. It might not be suitable as a snack while walking around since it's filling, but it would be great to enjoy at home with breakfast. It's worth trying at least once for the experience!

I visited around 1 pm on a regular day. I read a Google review saying the apple pie here was delicious, so I wanted to try it. However, they were not selling apple pie at the moment, so I bought a melon bread instead. It was recommended to warm it up in a toaster, but I used a microwave. It became very soft and fluffy, and tasted delicious. The buttery aroma spread gently in my mouth, and it was so delicious that I wanted to eat more.

Asakusa Food Crawl Gourmet 10 Stops Hop Trip 8th Stop One of the most famous melon pan shops in Asakusa, "Kagetsudo," is a must-visit for Asakusa food crawls. With 3 stores in Asakusa, this shop is known for its large melon pan. The original store and the Kaminarimon store are located near the Kaminarimon gate, while the Shin-Nakamise store is located in a back street of Nakamise shopping street. Kagetsudo is a super long-established shop founded in 1945. The shop has a seating area on the 2nd floor, so it is recommended to eat there if you want to enjoy it on the spot. (Note that eating while walking in Asakusa is prohibited, so be careful.) The freshly baked melon pan has a crispy surface and surprisingly fluffy inside. It was delicious with a rich buttery aroma. The classic melon pan in Asakusa food crawls did not disappoint as always. [Order] - Jumbo Melon Pan 250 yen.

I forgot the price... I was also curious about the whipped cream and ice cream versions, but since it was my first time, I went with the standard one! It was surprisingly light! Unlike the heavy melon bread, this one was crispy and fluffy! I think it would go well with whipped cream too... It was delicious!

Chii Stroll (Yanaka・Asakusa) Project H・Self-satisfying World (Only those who understand will understand) (^^ I forgot to upload it (^^; A member of a certain idol group was eating it. It seems that melon bread is also popular in Asakusa for some reason (^^; What's going on? It seems that it spread from the word of mouth of the bus guide. There is always a long line at the store where you can eat in and take Instagram-worthy photos (--; (。-`ω´-) "Well, it's okay to buy it later" and avoid the crowds, I walked as usual down the back streets and passed by this store, where there was no line, and they had bread too. (。-`ω´-) "One please"( ´∀`) "Takeout only, is that okay?" Well, I know that. I'm happy with that. I placed the soft melon bread carefully on top of my backpack and went home. I ate it for dinner. The price is reasonable, but the size, softness, and taste are good. It's not just about Instagram, I thought it would be nice to buy and eat it as a reward. In terms of cost performance, Family Mart's melon bread is better (^^; (This is subjective).

A popular shop known for its fluffy melon bread with a 3-hour long fermentation process. They have several locations around Asakusa, and I was surprised to find one tucked away in a small shop in a back alley off Nakamise Street near Senso-ji Temple. They only sell their "Asakusa Melon Pan (¥220)" in paper bags. I decided to try it right there. The melon bread was large and not freshly baked, so it was a bit flat. It was generously buttered, with a crispy cookie crust that was delicious. The bread itself was not fluffy, but rather dense and compact, perhaps due to being individually wrapped in these times. Since the texture is key for this bread, it might be more important to have it fresh out of the oven. I was a bit disappointed with this experience, so I'd like to try the main store next time.

Our most popular melon pan at home! The kids say it's the best in Tokyo. This melon pan looks pretty ordinary. The surface is fluffy and yellow, resembling a turtle shell from a manga. But the smell is different! It doesn't smell like melon, but the butter flavor is amazing. The taste and texture are unique! The surface is crispy and sweet, but the inside is soft and fluffy, creating a nice contrast. It doesn't feel dry like many others. It's not too heavy, so you can have as many as you want. I was planning to visit the main store, but happened to pass by this store near Sensoji Temple and it was empty, so I bought some. It was my first time buying outside the main store, and I'm grateful that I could still get freshly baked ones here!

I came to the store wanting to eat Jumbo Melon Pan. As the name suggests, the size is indeed large. However, when I tried it, it didn't feel heavy on my stomach despite its appearance, and the outside was crispy. This way, it doesn't fill you up too much, making it easy for women to eat too! There are several branches, so it's easy to visit! Next time, I'll try a menu with Melon Pan + something extra!

While strolling around Asakusa, I caught a sweet and pleasant smell. It was the smell of melon bread. The shop seemed to be popular as there were many photos of visitors displayed. They offer both regular melon bread and ice melon bread. I decided to try the seasonal limited edition amaou ice melon bread for 650 yen and melon bread soda for 250 yen. The soda had a melon flavor at first, but the aftertaste was like the taste of melon bread dough, creating a unique flavor. The melon bread had a crispy and rich taste. The ice cream was delicious, but it was a bit difficult to eat.

In Asakusa Nakamise, there are many delicious foods that you can enjoy while walking around, but the Jumbo Melonpan, which I have seen on TV and in various media, is especially famous. I had never had the chance to try it before, but this time, my friend bought one as a souvenir and I got to try it. There are several Hangetsudo shops in Asakusa, and this one, Hangetsudo Shin-Nakamise, is located on a side street off the main street of Nakamise. The area in front of the shop was crowded with foreign tourists and high school students on school trips, but there was no line to buy, so we were able to purchase it easily. In the end, we took it home and warmed it up a bit in the toaster oven. The large Melonpan, about 20cm in diameter, was different from the usual ones with a fluffy softness on the surface and a balanced sweetness. It was so delicious that I regretted not buying more than one. It seems that there is a reason why the shops with long lines are popular.

After visiting Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, I stumbled upon this place on a street next to Nakamise-dori. The famous Jumbo Melon Pan seems to be quite popular, with many photos of celebrities displayed outside the shop. This small store only sells melon pan and Danish pastries, but a different store nearby offers dishes like anmitsu and zenzai. I bought the Jumbo Melon Pan for 220 yen (tax included) and tried it the next morning without heating it up. The cookie crust on the surface was crispy and fragrant, while the dough was soft and delicious. Despite its large size (about 15cm in diameter), it wasn't too heavy, so I could easily finish it in one go. I'll definitely buy it as a snack next time I visit Asakusa.

Established in 1945, the long-standing sweet shop Jumbo Melon Pan is famous for selling 3,000 pieces a day. I purchased the "Jumbo Melon Pan" for 220 yen and the exclusive "Rare Cheese and Refreshing Strawberry" for 500 yen at the main store. The melon pan has a crispy cookie exterior and a fluffy, light texture inside, making it easy to finish despite its much larger size than the palm of your hand. The Rare Cheese and Refreshing Strawberry is quite sweet, so it may be more suitable for those who enjoy sweet treats. They also offer melon pan with ice cream sandwiched in between and several types of homemade pies.

Asakusa is home to a well-known shop that I had been curious about for a while but always put off due to the long lines. However, when I happened to pass by this time, there was no line so I decided to give it a try. The shop is located along a street just east of the main street in Nakamise near Senso-ji Temple. The melon bread was quite large, with a crispy exterior and a soft, mildly sweet interior that was easy to eat. It's perfect for snacking on the go or as a souvenir. Next time, I would like to try it fresh out of the oven.

This place was featured on multiple websites for its food in Asakusa. I found it by chance on my way to Senso-ji Temple and bought it on impulse. I was able to purchase it right away without waiting in line. Perhaps due to the season, many people seem to prefer buying melon bread ice cream rather than regular melon bread. I bought the melon bread to go. The taste was... just like regular melon bread. It was delicious as usual. I wonder why this became a specialty in Asakusa... Thank you for the meal.

Asakusa foodie adventure! I love melon bread, so without thinking, I ended up at "Kagetsudo." The regular melon bread was good, but I couldn't resist the limited edition one with ice cream inside! It was over 600 yen, which was a surprise (lol). It was delicious, but paying over 600 yen just for melon bread with ice cream sandwiched in it is a bit much, don't you think? (lol)

My luggage is already full, but I decided to search for it! I asked for a recommended course at the shrine I visited today, and they said I should try the melon bread at Hangetsudo, so I thought I should try it since I came all this way. But I already had gratin, so I decided to save it for breakfast tomorrow and just buy one. It's from a shop at the back, so there's no need to wait in line, and I can buy it easily. I won't eat it right away, so if I don't care about it being freshly baked, this is good enough, right? I tried it the next morning, but it was just a typical melon bread. Maybe I should have eaten it fresh out of the oven after all? In the end, it's all the same, I guess.

I have had the melon bread from Hangetsudo a few times at department store events. Since I was in Asakusa, I decided to visit the store. I didn't realize that you can only eat freshly baked ones at the main store. I ended up buying a cold melon bread. Hmm, when it's cold, I can't really feel that fluffy texture. I guess that fluffy texture is only when it's freshly baked. What a shame.
