Coffee & Bar gg GENIE KURAMAE
On this day, I visited a second cafe in Kuramae. Just like many other cafes in the area, this cafe is tucked away on a side street. They serve lattes in unique containers, with mine coming in a cute bear-shaped plastic cup. While it made me pause to think about the plastic material, they use a real espresso machine to extract the espresso and make the latte. You can choose between the bear cup and a regular cup for your drink, but it seems they only serve espresso in a demitasse cup. The transparent cup allows you to see the layers of coffee, tea, and milk, which is quite interesting.
The menu offers coffee, tea, orange juice, and milk. I ordered their most popular item, the Caramel Latte ICE for ¥790. You can't choose the beans, but they seem to use a top-quality specialty blend. The drink had a half-mixed feel of espresso and milk, with the milk likely poured first and the espresso added on top. It came with a metal lid, and the menu suggested asking for additional syrup when ordering, as it would be difficult to add later.
The coffee beans used seemed to be of a strong and intense variety. As I enjoyed my latte, I noticed the tasteful interior design, furniture, and decor of the shop. It made me wonder if a famous designer was behind it all. They also sold bread, churros, and other snacks. Additionally, they had bottle holders and keychains shaped like the bear bottle, which was quite cute.
If you're exploring Kuramae, it's worth stopping by this place. I wonder what the meaning of the name "gg GENIE" is. "Genie" means "noble aristocrat, God is merciful" in Greek and Hebrew, and is often used as a girl's name. Perhaps it's a nickname for the staff here. I also didn't quite understand the meaning of "BAR." I should have asked the staff about it. When I mentioned wanting to take the bear bottle home, they washed it and placed it in a clear bag with a pamphlet for me.
