First time at Gonpachi. Gonpachi is a Japanese restaurant under the Global Dining group, but I had never been to one before, including the one in Nishi-Azabu. As Asakusa Shumadomo has closed down, I was looking for a new go-to spot. For drinks, my wife had the Kyoto-made gin "Toki no Bi" with tonic (880 yen including tax), and I had a soda (495 yen) and a yuzu plum soda (550 yen). We ordered the rich homemade tofu (definitely rich and delicious), Gonpachi namul (made with lotus root), kettle-cooked whitebait and spinach salad (simple and tasty), Gonpachi salad (mainly watercress with a slightly sweet taste), fried fresh squid (goes well with beer), silver cod marinated in sweet Kyoto miso (decently tasty), grilled chicken skewers (tsunagi, liver, gizzard, tsukune, chicken thigh - slightly light on salt, the sauce is also light. The meat quality and cooking are not bad), sea bream sashimi with hot broth (average), steamed soba noodles (flat soba noodles that seem machine-made. The scent of soba is faint. The soba dipping sauce has a slightly unusual taste similar to tamari soy sauce). Overall, the flavors are above average. The service girl with a short haircut has cute eyes.

The soba was okay. It was average. It seemed like they were preparing for the next group, as I saw female staff cleaning up the second floor. The noise of clattering dishes and dragging chairs was a bit distracting. It would have been appreciated if they were more considerate when cleaning up.

Gonpachi is a place I've heard of but never been to. I've been really into fresh oysters lately, so I tried them here too! The oysters were a bit lukewarm, which was a bit disappointing. The kitchen is visible, but honestly, I don't mind if it's not. The staff were mostly young and provided decent service. As expected, there were mostly foreign customers at Gonpachi. The atmosphere is nice and I'm sure it would be fun! The namul was a bit too salty, but the skewers were delicious. The weather was nice and the large windows created a pleasant ambiance. Thank you for the meal.

Reasonably priced. Beers, sake, shochu, etc. are around 600-700 yen. The food is delicious, and the seats at the back of the second floor offer a view of the Sumida River. It seems like a good idea to make an early reservation to secure a river view seat on the second floor. Sashimi and soba seem to be the signature dishes.

I was looking for a place that allows baby strollers inside and found this place where I could make a same-day reservation. The restaurant has both a first and second floor, and it is quite spacious, allowing the stroller to fit in easily. For lunch, I ordered the grilled fish set for 1500 yen, the grilled chicken bowl set for 1350 yen, and a beer for 650 yen. The lunch set comes with salad and soba noodles, so even men can get quite full. The extra large rice portion is free, so most people will be satisfied. The food was not exceptionally special, but it was definitely delicious. The atmosphere was just right, not too quiet or too noisy. I would like to go again.

Located along the Sumida River, just a short walk from Asakusa Station, this Japanese restaurant offers a fantastic view from the second floor of the illuminated Azuma Bridge and the famous Asahi Beer monument. We visited because we were craving yakitori, but they also offer a wide range of dishes including salad, grilled fish, hand-rolled sushi, and soba noodles. The location is excellent and the menu is diverse.

I had lunch there. I ordered a tempura rice bowl and soba set for 1000 yen, with a large serving of soba for an extra 150 yen. Considering the location in Asakusa, it was reasonably priced. The interior and table setting seemed more geared towards evening dining. Perhaps because of the many foreign tourists. The taste of the food was just average. The location of the restaurant is great, so I thought they could put more effort into the dishes. I don't often have lunch in Asakusa, so I'm not sure.

I visited this restaurant for lunch when I wanted to take a water bus in Asakusa. It is conveniently located near the water bus boarding area at Azumabashi, where you can see the Sumida River and the Skytree from the window. I didn't have high expectations because I thought the prices were relatively cheap, but the food was really delicious. The dishes are served one by one to match your eating pace, so it's a lunch time of about an hour. I forgot to take a picture of the first salad.

I didn't feel like drinking much, so I headed to Kamiya Bar, but it was already closed before 22:00. So I ended up going to this nearby place. I knew about it but it was my first time there. There were hardly any Japanese customers, just a lot of foreign customers. I ordered Japanese sparkling wine, which was delicious. The atmosphere was great. Thank you for the meal. Next time, I'll come with some foreign friends!

Gonpachi, located at the foot of Azuma Bridge, is a strong izakaya that attracts customers who are determined to dine out even during the pandemic. I decided to stop by for lunch. By 11:30, I managed to slip past the foreign customers shouting "oh! Gonpachi! Gonpachi!" at the entrance and found a seat on the second floor. I tried a variety of dishes. Summary: 1) Oolong tea is not good. 2) Squid tempura is delicious. 3) Fresh oysters are delicious. 4) The salad is okay. 5) Yakitori is delicious. 6) The soba noodles are okay. Overall, the food is decent. It will probably be very crowded during the fireworks festival. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

When it comes to Asakusa, tempura is famous, but I love the yakitori bowl at Gonpachi, which I visit regularly. It's a bowl of freshly grilled yakitori on rice, served with spinach salad, miso soup, and pickles. The restaurant also accommodates groups, and the staff always provide efficient service, even when it's busy.

Soba izakaya along the Sumida River. It seems like a nice place to drink while looking at the Azumabashi Bridge. Foreign tourists would also enjoy it.
- Order:
Yakitori Don Set 1000 yen
The set included one tsukune and one yakitori, with minced meat on the bottom. The tsukune had a nice firm texture and good flavor. The soba portion was small, with firm noodles that were quite delicious. The lunch was decent, but this place seems better suited for drinking.
- Notes:
I sat on the second floor of the two-story restaurant. There was a large kitchen in the center, surrounded by a counter in a 'C' shape. There was also a long table that could seat over 10 people by the window, as well as small tables for two. It seemed like a place that could accommodate quite a few people.

My brother was nearby for work, so we decided to meet up in Asakusa and go out to eat. I don't go to Asakusa often, so I had trouble choosing a restaurant. I thought maybe a place with a nice view would be good, so I chose this restaurant. However, it was a big mistake!!! The seats by the window with a beautiful view were taken over by foreign tourists, and the second floor was mostly filled with foreigners. Well, in this day and age, it can't be helped, I guess. It's not a problem that there were foreigners, but the air felt stagnant, like the ventilation wasn't good enough. The distance between tables was also too close, so whether you can enjoy the restaurant or not really depends on who sits next to you. I felt uncomfortable throughout the meal. The atmosphere was like that, so my brother and I quickly left the restaurant to go somewhere else. I won't be coming back here. Thank you for the meal.

The exterior of the shop looked stylish and caught my attention, so I decided to go in. It was a great find! I tried various dishes, but the crispy shrimp fritters wrapped in yuzu-flavored skin were delicious. The fried squid was also unique, with a crispy coating and juicy squid inside. The hand-rolled sushi was small but allowed me to enjoy different flavors. The matcha terrine was rich, and it paired perfectly with the Yubari ice cream monaka. We ordered a lot of food and sake for five people, but the cost performance was great, around 5000 yen per person.

On this day, I went to Gonpachi in Asakusa Azumabashi for lunch. It is located along the Sumida River, so the window seats have a view of the river. There are table seats, counter seats, and even a second floor, so there are plenty of seats available. They can accommodate large groups, which was great. For lunch, I had the Holiday Lunch Menu, which was a great deal and included a set of soba and a rice bowl. From the lunch menu, I chose the Yakitori Donburi set (with tsukune, chicken, and minced chicken with a very tasty sauce). It came with soba and spinach salad. The staff were all efficient in taking orders and handling payments, which I appreciated. It's a Halal-friendly restaurant, and there were many customers from Islamic countries as well.

I went exploring around Asakusa with a friend for lunch, but couldn't decide on a place. Then I remembered about Gonpachi! We decided to go there again and this time I ordered the tempura bowl and extra large soba set for 1,150 yen. As always, the cost performance is amazing. Even though it's called extra large soba, it's actually not that much. It might be a good idea for men to order the extra large rice as well. Still, compared to other places, it's very affordable. They also offer complimentary carbonated water in a decanter, which is a nice touch. The service here is fantastic. If you ever find yourself struggling to decide on a lunch spot in Asakusa, definitely come back here! Thank you for the meal! 🍽️

After the FF Handcraft Exhibition on Saturday at 5:00 PM, we had a drinking party with the fishing club members. The night view of the Sumida River was beautiful. The grilled chicken was okay. The draft beer was a bit disappointing, but it tasted good. Well, I guess it's kind of tacky to drink Kirin beer here when you can see the headquarters from the window. The illuminated houseboats are meant to be admired rather than ridden. The night view was beautiful.

Edomae shrimp tempura bowl with soba for 1,000 yen! You can get a large serving of soba for an additional 150 yen! It's so cheap!! In this area, tempura soba usually costs around 1,900 yen, so this place is really affordable and fair. The soba noodles are hand-made and have a nice texture, and the tempura bowl is delicious as well. To be able to eat this for 1,150 yen is amazing. The second-floor seats have a nice view of the Sumida River, which would probably appeal to foreigners. Asakusa has many delicious soba restaurants, but if you're ever in a lunch dilemma, definitely consider coming here. It seems like there are no major disappointments. We were with children, but the staff were friendly and the first-floor seats were very cozy. Thank you for the meal!

This is a proper restaurant that faithfully continues the tradition of Edo-style soba. Despite being a chain restaurant, they are able to provide thorough education, ensuring high quality. The soba noodles are first-rate and the dipping sauce is delicious. The soba soup is like a creamy porridge made from soba flour. The timing of serving the soba soup and the closing tea is also perfect. It's a restaurant that truly impressed me after a long time.

Gonpachi Asakusa Azumabashi Store opened in Asakusa, Tokyo's downtown area, on January 16, 2017! With multiple locations, the historic "izakaya summit" between former President Bush and former Prime Minister Koizumi in 2002 took place at the Nishi-Azabu store. This popular restaurant, which gained worldwide fame as the model for a scene in the movie "Kill Bill," is especially recommended for entertaining foreign guests. The second-floor seats offer a relaxing atmosphere with a view of the Sumida River, making it a hidden gem. Try the salmon and tuna sashimi bowl with soba noodles for 1,250 yen!

I used this restaurant for dinner. I was seated at the counter on the second floor and both the exterior and interior of the restaurant were lovely. The atmosphere was livelier than I had expected (although it may depend on the other customers present), and the staff were very energetic and attentive. We had homemade tofu, deep-fried shrimp, assorted sashimi, skewers (tanuki and cartilage), and soba. Everything was delicious, but the deep-fried shrimp was especially amazing. They had a wide variety of drinks, and although I was at the counter this time so the view was limited, I could see the Skytree and Asahi Group headquarters along the Sumida River from the window seats, so the view seemed nice. I would like to visit again.
