"The 'Noro' place, is that the same 'Noro'? I always noticed the sign on my way home. It said they're open until 5 am, so after work, we all went there. It turns out it was the popular 'Okonomiyaki Noro' from Hiroo that has moved to Akasaka! Inside the restaurant, there were signatures of Yoshimoto comedians, and the nori dispenser was brought from Hiroo. We ate a lot, including tonpei-yaki, suji-yaki, yakitori, momo-yaki, pork and bean sprouts, and finished with the famous Kaiware okonomiyaki. The staff was friendly and kind, and we left satisfied both in our stomachs and spirits. We'll definitely visit again!"

A delicious okonomiyaki restaurant in the Kansai style. It's the closest okonomiyaki place to my home, but it had been a while since my last visit. The cabbage and pork belly okonomiyaki was as tasty as ever! I couldn't decide between okonomiyaki and yakisoba, but ended up ordering the cabbage and pork belly okonomiyaki. I should come here more often. Even though I only had a few sour drinks, I ended up getting quite tipsy (lol).

In Akasaka, there is a new okonomiyaki restaurant called Nolo. I haven't been since the days when it was in Tengenji. The tonpei-yaki is fluffy and delicious, with a perfect match with the sauce! The okonomiyaki is loaded with plenty of kaiware (radish sprouts)! The spicy and crunchy kaiware goes well with the rich okonomiyaki. It's great that you can enjoy it until the end without getting tired. Of course, we also ordered yakisoba. The noodles are thick noodles. Personally, I prefer thin noodles, but this was also delicious! Thank you for the meal.

This is a great place to go for drinks with colleagues or coworkers after work. The restaurant has private rooms and serves delicious flour-based dishes that really get the party going. The food is so tasty that it goes perfectly with drinks, making it the perfect place to have a fun and lively time with friends.

Around 2005, there was a late-night TV show where young comedians were tasked with running an okonomiyaki restaurant as part of a project by Shinsuke Shimada. When asked if he would invest, Shimada said, "I'll just buy the nori." He then generously provided nori at each table. I visited Noro, a popular okonomiyaki restaurant that moved from Hiroo to Akasaka. Due to the pandemic, their business hours have changed, with lunch now available on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30. They have discontinued the lunch sets, but I ordered their most popular item, the Butatama for 1080 yen, along with a side of rice for 200 yen. The Butatama, topped with plenty of kaiware daikon, was delicious with a rich flavor from the Okonomiyaki sauce and mayonnaise. I made sure to sprinkle plenty of nori, as recommended by Matsuchan, and enjoyed it on top of the rice. It was a delightful meal that made me want to keep eating. Next, I moved on to the next restaurant for more food.

There are many dining options along Ichigodori and Misujidori streets heading towards Akasaka Mitsuke Station from Akasaka Station. It is bustling with activity not only on weekends but also on weekdays. On the other hand, heading towards Tameike-Sanno, there are also plenty of dining establishments, but with a slightly more relaxed atmosphere. The "Noro Akasaka Main Store" I visited this time is located about a 3-minute walk from Akasaka Station, in a good location, yet the underground location of the restaurant may cause it to be easily overlooked while walking. The interior atmosphere is nice, with a dim lighting and a counter and private rooms that seem convenient to use. When you open the menu, you'll find a wide variety of options including okonomiyaki, other grilled dishes, and side dishes, making it enjoyable just to choose. Apparently, the famous dish here is the "Noroyaki," which is essentially okonomiyaki. I definitely recommend trying the specialty "Kaiware Tamago." The yakisoba also uses specially selected noodles, reportedly using the original noodles from Asakusa's Kaikaro. I also ordered other delicious items like tonpeiyaki and uni with watercress. As the dishes kept coming, the most anticipated one was definitely the "Kaiware Tamago." I wasn't familiar with okonomiyaki topped with kaiware, but the visual impact was impressive. Honestly, I had doubts about whether kaiware would go well with okonomiyaki, but they surprisingly complemented each other perfectly. The rich sauce, crunchy kaiware, and flavorful bonito flakes created a great combination. I couldn't stop eating it. There's something about the presence of kaiware that makes it feel healthy. It's like all the calories disappear. Other dishes were also delicious overall. While Kansai-style cuisine is often associated with mild flavors, these dishes were well-seasoned and satisfying for those who prefer stronger flavors. On a completely unrelated note, a donation was made in the name of Masatoshi Hamada. Wait, is that Mat-chan from Downtown? The mystery only deepens.

Shinsuke Shimada is the owner of this restaurant, which caught my interest after being featured on TV. I visited with a friend and found the atmosphere inside to be very calm and quiet. My friend and I each ordered a drink and an okonomiyaki, and they were delicious. The crispy surface and fluffy inside were very good. I didn't have high expectations for a restaurant owned by a celebrity, but it exceeded them. The size was just right and easy to eat. For those with a big appetite, you may find the portion a bit small, so ordering some side dishes could be a good idea.

Late-night okonomiyaki restaurant in Akasaka
After finishing work in Akasaka and finding myself wandering around with no trains running, I stumbled upon this restaurant. I remembered passing by this place in Hiroo a long time ago, so I decided to go in. When I asked the staff for a recommendation, they suggested the pork and cabbage okonomiyaki. It was a night that reaffirmed my love for flour-based dishes.

There are few places to eat late at night in Akasaka, so I wandered around Akasaka, Tameike, and Akasaka-mitsuke. There are Korean restaurants, but this time I wanted something different. As I walked, I realized about 40 minutes had passed. Then, near Akasaka station, I found a sign saying they are open until 5 am! I decided to go in. The restaurant was in the basement and not as big as I thought, with a counter seat and maybe one table. There seemed to be private rooms available for an additional fee. We were seated at the counter, but the chairs were too high. The staff kindly helped us. We started with a Sapporo beer. For snacks, we ordered pork and cheese on rice crackers and scallop bacon rolls. The pork and cheese was delicious with lots of cheese. We also ordered okonomiyaki with fried tempura bits, which was really tasty. There was also a case of green seaweed on the table, with a label saying "Donated by Matsumoto Hitoshi." I was curious, so I asked the staff. They explained that the restaurant used to be in Hiroo and was owned by a retired comedian, who had received the seaweed from Matsumoto Hitoshi. It's a great place for late-night dining, and I highly recommend the okonomiyaki with fried tempura bits!

I was wandering around Akasaka late at night looking for a place to eat, and I finally found this restaurant that I had been curious about for a long time. It was undergoing renovations at the time, so the interior was a bit cramped, but they mentioned that it would be expanded in a few days. I ended up sitting on a somewhat unstable high chair, but they assured me it would be improved soon. I tried their specialty dish called Noroyaki, along with yakisoba and simmered dishes. Everything was incredibly delicious (maybe because I was really hungry due to it being late at night)! The yakisoba had a chewy, slightly thick, flat noodles that were really tasty!

This was a popular okonomiyaki restaurant near the Tengenji intersection. It moved to Akasaka in March 2018. When we visited for dinner for the first time after the move, we found it easy to make a reservation online, unlike before when it was difficult to get a reservation even a month in advance. We asked the staff about the portion size, so we ordered one okonomiyaki and one yakisoba to share between the two of us. The portions were indeed generous, and we were full after finishing the meal. It has been over 10 years since we visited when it was in Hiroo, so our memories are not clear, but it seems like the seasoning has become stronger than before. Unfortunately, it did not live up to our expectations of a special dining experience.

Today I had lunch in Akasaka. There is a new okonomiyaki restaurant near the Nitchome police box, so I decided to try it out. The menu offers three sets: okonomiyaki set, yakisoba set, and daily special set, all priced at 880 yen. I was in the mood for yakisoba, so I chose that. The yakisoba came with a choice of sauce (soy sauce, salt, curry) and a side of rice/pickles or salad. I chose salad. The yakisoba arrived on a hot plate with thick flat noodles. On top, there was a fried egg, green onions, and large flakes of bonito. The sauce was quite rich in flavor. The ingredients included pork belly, cabbage, carrots, and fried tempura bits. It had been a while since I had yakisoba, and it was delicious. I was very satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the "Okonomiyaki Noro Akasaka Honten" located in the basement of a building a 2-3 minute walk from Akasaka Station around 7pm on a certain day in October 2018. The restaurant was not very spacious with only 2 other customers inside. We ordered the all-you-can-drink option for 2,000 yen and started with the Avocado Oni Oroshi Ponzu for 620 yen. The combination of avocado and grated daikon was excellent and made for a perfect appetizer. Next, we tried the Assorted Mushroom Stir-Fry with Butter Soy Sauce for 680 yen. The stir-fry had a mild flavor, but could benefit from a stronger buttery taste. It was satisfying with plenty of mushrooms. We then ordered the Kaiware Tamago for 1,080 yen, which was recommended by the restaurant. It was a soft Kansai-style okonomiyaki topped with sweet sauce, mayonnaise, plenty of kaiware sprouts, and bonito flakes. The amount of kaiware sprouts was just right, creating a well-balanced dish with the okonomiyaki. We also had the Squid and Green Onion Okonomiyaki for 1,080 yen, which was a must-try for green onion lovers. The squid was a bit small but had a nice texture, although a little more squid would have been better. Despite the high price, we were satisfied with the taste. The Crispy Yakisoba for 980 yen was a highlight, with chewy noodles absorbing the sauce and pork cracklings, creating a delicious flavor. This is a dish we would definitely order again on our next visit. Lastly, we tried the Tonpei Pork for 780 yen, a juicy pork dish with a sweet sauce that made for a great snack. This restaurant in the Akasaka area is convenient for those craving okonomiyaki. The all-you-can-drink option allowed us to enjoy beer and wine to the fullest, providing a good value. We couldn't help but notice the blue nori dishware donated by Matsumoto Hitoshi on the table, but we still enjoyed the taste of Osaka.

I visited a restaurant in Yotsuya that was produced by Mr. Shinsuke Shimada. I made a reservation for the 4,500 yen all-you-can-drink course. As soon as I entered, I was guided to the counter. Although the depth of the restaurant was not very large, the width was spacious enough and there were no people sitting next to me, so I could relax comfortably. Various dishes such as salad and tonpei-yaki were served one after another. The portions were not very large, but considering the price, they were not bad. Since it was all-you-can-drink, I didn't hesitate to order beer and highballs. The staff were elderly gentlemen and had a calm and pleasant demeanor. I couldn't extend my stay because it was reserved behind me, but it was nice to relax in a comfortable atmosphere once in a while.

It was the best in terms of cost performance. The grilled dishes were decent. Not incredibly delicious, but well, just tasty. The reception is not great, but you can use Wi-Fi. The staff are friendly with a Kansai dialect when it's not busy. However, they seem to get a bit irritable when it starts to get crowded. It's a good place to visit with a group of friends for a lively gathering.

I stopped by after visiting Hie Shrine for my last hatsumode of the Heisei era. Just before my visit, I had pancakes at Hoshino Coffee, so it was a kind of flour-based food crawl. The name of the restaurant seemed vaguely familiar, and then I noticed Matsuno Hitoji's name on the bottle of nori on the table. I must have seen it on TV because he's involved in the management as a comedian. In other reviews, it was mentioned that it used to be hard to get a reservation, but when I visited on January 3rd, I was able to get in smoothly. By the way, at the table next to me, someone who seemed like a comedian was giving life advice. I ordered the tonpeiyaki, okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and cheese age. The standout dish was the tonpeiyaki. It was completely different from the tonpeiyaki I had at a restaurant in Nishi-Shinjuku before, with a thick and gooey texture. I think it has a lot of yam in it. They also offer a half-size, but I think it's too small, so go for the full size. I will definitely visit again.
