A long-established Chinese restaurant located behind Marui near Shinjuku Sanchome Station. I tried their fried chicken last time and it was delicious, so this time I ordered the set meal "fried chicken" (980 yen). It came with salad, pickles, soup, and rice. The fried chicken was crispy and coated in a flavorful sauce. The hot and juicy chicken thigh meat inside was very satisfying. The rice went down smoothly. I finished the meal with the iced coffee that came with the set. Thank you for the delicious meal. This restaurant has two entrances, one in the front and one in the back.

Garlic fried rice with dumplings and barley shochu! I thought it was a fancy continental-style Chinese dish, but it turned out to be authentic local Chinese cuisine, which made me happy. The dumplings, with ginger and cabbage crushed into tiny pieces, were a clear indication of that. The use of oil in the fried rice was also bold and delicious! I enjoyed it a lot today as well!

I went on Saturday afternoon. It was a pedestrian paradise with events going on, so I thought I wouldn't be able to get in anywhere, but I got in easily. The hiyashi chuka was served with the toppings separate from the noodles. The noodles were smooth and chewy, very delicious! I want to try something different next time.

Hot days call for chilled Chinese noodles! Today, I visited Daruma, a Chinese restaurant popular among celebrities. While tempted by fried rice and dumplings, on a scorching day, chilled Chinese noodles are the way to go. The kind chef suggested I customize my toppings, so the noodles and ingredients arrived separately. The noodles had a nice texture and paired well with the toppings. I enjoyed a leisurely lunchtime. ☆Tabelog Rating: 3.44 Opening Hours: 11:00-23:00 Closed: No regular holidays Payment: Credit cards accepted #ShinjukuLunch #ShinjukuGourmet #ShinjukuChinese #ShinjukuSanchomeLunch #ChilledChineseNoodles #Noodlestagram #CelebrityFavorite #Daruma #ChineseRestaurantDaruma

Seafood Uma-ni Soba for 1,100 yen at Daruma, a 3-minute walk from Shinjuku Station East Exit in Tokyo. This Chinese restaurant has been a long-standing establishment since my student days. I found out today is Ramen Day online, so I decided to come and have some ramen. I arrived a little after 2 PM and the restaurant was about 90% full. I ordered a menu item that looked delicious based on what the person next to me had ordered during my last visit, and it arrived in about 10 minutes. The toppings included shrimp, squid, scallops, and vegetables. I was pleased to see plenty of seafood in it. The soup lacked a strong flavor but had a gentle saltiness that was quite tasty. The noodles were medium-thin and curly, a safe choice. I finished almost all of the soup, it was a delicious meal!

At Daruma, located a 3-minute walk from Shinjuku Station East Exit in Tokyo, you can enjoy a large serving of chilled Chinese noodles for 1100 yen. This restaurant has been a longstanding favorite since my student days. I arrived at 1:30 pm and the place was about 90% full. Daruma is one of the places I always visit in the summer for chilled noodles, along with Isoji, Kagetsu Arashi, and Hidakaya. After ordering, the chilled noodles arrived in about 10 minutes. The noodles and toppings are served separately, both plates chilled. The toppings include chicken-like char siu, shredded omelet, cucumber, jellyfish, pickled ginger, shrimp, and cherry tomatoes. It's fun to assemble the toppings on the noodles. The noodles are thin and straight, with a soft texture, and the sauce is a chicken broth soy sauce with vinegar added to give it a chilled noodle flavor. Despite the price increase of over 100 yen from last year, I was satisfied. Thank you for the meal!

When I come to Shinjuku, I always stop by to eat their Cantonese noodles! It was delicious as always this time too! Ramen is often thought of as high in calories, but Cantonese noodles have lots of colorful vegetables and feel healthy, which I like. I love these Cantonese noodles so much that I want to choose them for my last meal ⭐︎

After finishing work, I was torn between going to "Bazoku" in Nippori or "Gifu-ya" in Shinjuku. I ended up choosing Shinjuku. When I arrived at "Gifu-ya," it was full and I couldn't get a table. There were many foreign tourists there. I decided to head to "Daruma" in the east exit. Although it seemed full at first, there was one table open in the back and I was able to sit down. I entered at 21:45 and it was almost full. I left at 22:30. I ordered the "Cantonese-style Yakisoba" for 1000 yen, a "Sapporo Black Label" for 690 yen, and later added a "Shaoxing Wine, Aged 5 Years (small)" for 800 yen. The food took 15 minutes to be served, probably due to the crowded restaurant. The yakisoba had thick noodles with pork, cabbage, wood ear mushrooms, carrots, bamboo shoots, onions, quail eggs, pickled ginger, and plenty of spicy mustard. The noodles and ingredients with a crispy texture mixed well with the sauce. I was happy with the generous amount of ingredients. The egg soup was also flavorful and delicious. It felt like the taste had changed a bit since my last visit. The total bill was 2490 yen. Thank you for the meal.

A long-established Chinese restaurant located behind Marui near Shinjuku Sanchome Station. I was always curious when passing by, but this was my first visit. The lunch menu consists of set meals and noodles with a set. I heard that the fried chicken was delicious, but I wanted to try the noodles, so I ordered the "Tanmen" (900 yen) with the "C set (fried chicken, half rice, and pickles)" (220 yen). It came with a drink, so I chose iced coffee. It arrived in about 10 minutes. The fried chicken didn't make it in time, but I was able to enjoy it piping hot. It was more like oil-drizzled chicken than fried chicken, and it was indeed delicious. The Tanmen had crunchy vegetables, plenty of pork belly, and a light soup. It was super tasty. Next time, I might try the fried chicken set meal.

I always love the Cantonese noodles here so much that despite the many new stores opening in Shinjuku, I always head straight here! It was quite crowded on a Sunday afternoon, but I managed to get a seat and ordered the Cantonese noodles I was craving for. As always, it was delicious and satisfying. I heard that their crab fried rice with sauce is also incredibly delicious. It seems like a great dish to share during a drinking party. Thank you for the delicious meal! ⭐︎

I first came to this restaurant over 20 years ago. The food is still delicious. I usually order the fried chicken set meal, which is really tasty, but today I was tempted to try the cold noodles because 80% of the other customers were ordering it. However, I still think the fried chicken set meal is the best.

I went to the Chinese restaurant Daruma in Shinjuku Sanchome, where they serve cold noodles with toppings on the side. It had been about 10 years since my last visit. I arrived around 7 pm and the place was quite crowded. They offer a variety of dishes including appetizers, noodle dishes, rice bowls, fried rice, and desserts. I ordered the Cold Noodles for 950 yen (tax included). The noodles come separately from the toppings, which include jellyfish, cucumber, shrimp, char siu, cherry tomatoes, shredded omelet, and pickled ginger. Both plates were nicely chilled. The noodles were thin with a gentle wave, smooth and easy to slurp. The sauce was not too sour or sweet, with a mild flavor. The texture of the jellyfish and cucumber added a nice crunch, and the char siu was made from chicken. It may seem a bit plain at first, but once you dip everything in the sauce, it all comes together nicely. The portion of noodles was surprisingly generous, and overall, it was a satisfying cold noodle dish. Interestingly, I noticed some foreign customers trying to negotiate changing their order from pork to chicken after realizing the meat in their dish. It was quite a scene.

When it comes to the top three Chinese restaurants near Shinjuku Station, it would be Gifu-ya at the west exit, Ishi no Ie at the east exit, and Daruma. I had never been to Daruma before, so I finally decided to give it a try. First, the mapo tofu arrived. The smooth tofu and spicy seasoning were excellent, making me crave rice. Next, the pan-fried dumplings were just the right size, with a vegetable-heavy filling and a juicy texture that was delicious. Then came the pan-fried vermicelli. There was more than I expected, and it had a light yet flavorful seasoning, possibly with dried shrimp, which was also tasty. I thought that would be the end, but the staff recommended the grilled chicken, so I decided to try it. I didn't expect just one piece of chicken thigh on a skewer, but it turned out to be a delicious chicken skewer that went well with beer, served with bean sprouts.

Marui Shinjuku Honten-ura. A Chinese restaurant sandwiched between the famous soup curry and soy sauce ramen shops. I missed lunch, so I entered the restaurant around 6 pm while the staff were taking a break. I sat at a table and ordered the B set (choice of ramen + mini mapo tofu rice bowl) from the menu. I chose tantan-men as my favorite ramen. While waiting, I also ordered a bottle of beer. I sipped on my beer while waiting for my order. It was raining today, but Shinjuku seemed to be bustling with tourists, which was nice to see. Soon, the tantan-men arrived. It had a nostalgic spicy flavor. Shortly after, the mini mapo tofu rice bowl also arrived. Ah, I'll have to come back here for a drink after a night out in Shinjuku. Thank you for the meal!

This is my second visit. I remember coming at night before, but it was a long time ago and I don't remember what I ate. I visited around 2 pm on a weekday, and the restaurant was about 70% full. The interior had many table seats, and it was quite spacious. They had noodles, but the set meals also looked good. I wasn't sure what was popular as people around me were ordering different dishes. I saw some reviews mentioning fried rice, so this time I ordered the Spicy Pak Choi Fried Rice for 850 yen, with extra serving for 150 yen. It arrived in less than 10 minutes and looked quite delicious. The atmosphere was like a typical Chinese restaurant in the city, which was nice. It came with soup, which had a unique ginger-like aroma and was slightly cloudy. It had a gentle flavor, probably based on Chinese seasonings. The main dish, the Spicy Pak Choi Fried Rice, had a rough texture, was slightly spicy, and had plenty of pak choi. The rice was fluffy and tasty. The extra serving was quite generous, so the regular size might have been enough. I also noticed the Liver and Leek Set Meal, and many people were ordering the Cold Noodles starting today, as well as the Ankake Yakisoba, which looked delicious. I'm also curious about the regular fried rice here. I wonder what the real recommendation is. I wish someone would tell me. Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant was almost full but we were able to enter without waiting in line. We ordered the reasonably priced set meals. The staff's service was attentive. The chicken karaage set had thin meat but was crispy and had a good texture. The mapo tofu set was spicy and salty, with large pieces of crumbled tofu that paired well with the dish.

I entered the restaurant around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, and was able to get in smoothly, but after that, there was a wait and the inside of the restaurant became crowded with the staff bustling around. The avocado and shrimp mayo were so delicious! Every side dish I tried was tasty, including the crab omelet and spring rolls that I also ordered. The location is great too, so next time I want to focus on just the side dishes.

Wednesday, 15 degrees Celsius, sunny. Went shopping in Shinjuku Sanchome. Entered the restaurant at 11:32, 20% full. Ordered the Chinese rice bowl for ¥950. Asked if I wanted coffee or oolong tea, confirmed that it comes for free. Chose oolong tea. The bowl arrived in 3 minutes, shiny and delicious with a sweet soy sauce flavor. It had squid, pork, cabbage, carrots, bok choy, shiitake mushrooms, and wood ear mushrooms as toppings. The egg carrot Chinese soup was also delicious and hot. The oolong tea was included. This taste and price in Shinjuku Sanchome are worth it. Thank you for the meal. When leaving, the restaurant was almost full. Tissue paper is placed near the cashier.

Today's dinner was at "Chuka Saibou Daruma" in Shinjuku Sanchome. After drinking in Shinjuku's southeast exit, we decided to have ramen. We couldn't find any promising nearby shops, and the new Hong Kong ramen shop we wanted to try was closed. So, we ended up at a Chinese restaurant with a variety of dishes. We chose bottled beer and carefully considered the noodle options. When we couldn't decide, we decided to go for the most expensive one. I chose the "Seafood Umajiru Soba (1,100 yen)." After a 10-minute wait, it was brought to us. It was piping hot. The broth had a nice thickness to it. The ingredients included shrimp, squid, scallops, shiitake mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, komatsuna greens, carrots, and bamboo shoots. The refreshing saltiness was delicious.

I revisited a curry restaurant that had a long line the other day. However, today there was still a long line up the stairs so we decided to skip it. As we were wondering where to go next, we happened to come across this place. It has a typical Chinese restaurant vibe, with energetic and attentive staff. The menu had a variety of options, but I went for the liver and leek stir-fry, while my wife chose the mapo tofu. The yakisoba that the person next to us was eating looked really delicious too. The tsukemen and spring rolls also looked tasty. The liver and leek stir-fry that arrived was a huge portion. The flavor was not overpowering, and it went really well with rice! The mapo tofu was properly spicy and delicious too. This place was a hit. The restaurant had a cashier and kitchen in the middle, with seating on either side in separate rooms. It was quite spacious and there were many customers. When paying, I peeked into the kitchen and saw a large stove with a big wok being tossed around, which was impressive. My wife also enjoyed it and said she wants to try the dumplings and spring rolls next time. We will definitely be back! Thank you for the meal!
