I went to a calm place with my colleague and had delicious water eggplant. It was sweet and tasted like fruit. The thick and crispy fried horse mackerel was amazing. We drank a lot of sake, which we don't usually do, but it paired so well with the food. Lastly, we had udon noodles for dessert, which had a wonderful texture and left us completely satisfied.

This is an udon restaurant located near JR Kanda Station, along Nihonbashi Street. During lunchtime, they offer not only udon but also tempura rice bowls, daily Japanese set meals, and udon with rice sets. The "Special Tempura Rice Bowl / 1,000 yen" is served in about 10 minutes. The toppings include two shrimp tempura, a small fish called "kisu," pumpkin, eggplant, and a half-cooked egg. Despite the generous size of the toppings, they fit neatly in the bowl without overflowing. However, the rice portion seems quite small, probably about half a regular rice bowl. It was unexpected to be this small by default. Men might want to opt for the free large serving during lunchtime. Moving on to the shrimp tempura, the batter is thick but crispy, providing an ideal texture. The slightly sweet sauce complements it well. You can even eat the shrimp tails without hesitation. The kisu and vegetables also have a satisfying thickness in both the batter and the flesh. The half-cooked egg with its runny yolk is also delicious. But still, the rice is not enough. The miso soup contains fried ingredients, along with radish and carrot. The pickles included two slices of daikon radish. Most customers around me were having the udon and rice set. The Japanese set meal seems to offer a good variety and value. I might try the set meal next time.

I had a quick meal in Kanda and decided to stop by this restaurant. It was already past lunchtime, and when I checked the time, it was past 1:30 pm. I was grateful that this restaurant was still open while many others had already finished their lunch service. The location was perfect, just 1 or 2 minutes from Kanda Station. All lunch sets were priced at a budget-friendly 1000 yen including tax. The udon noodles were thin. I ended up ordering something warm, but when I tried a bite of the cold udon, the smooth texture was refreshing. Maybe the cold udon is the way to fully enjoy the dish. The tempura was also delicious! It had been a while since I had a tempura rice bowl, but it really lifted my spirits. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant around 1pm on a regular weekday. The place was about half full, and I was seated at a table for two right away. The daily fish special was sold out, so I quickly decided on the dipping udon for 1000 yen. The udon, made with delicious Yamato potatoes from Gunma, had a firm texture and rich flavor. It was served in two layers, so it was quite filling. I finished off the meal by pouring grated yam over rice. It was a satisfying meal with delicious udon and yam rice.

For a weekday lunch, try the grilled tuna cheek steak with fried eggplant and fresh sashimi from Hiramasa. The tuna cheek meat has a unique gamey flavor that is surprisingly sweet and refreshing, making it a great pairing with rice. The fried eggplant is also delicious, with its rich sweetness adding to the enjoyment of the meal. Even though it's an udon restaurant, the daily lunch set menu is worth a try.

Tempura and udon set meal. The small side dish of cold tofu is a nice touch. The tempura is crispy and fried just right. It includes shrimp, clams, squid, onions, and carrots, all cut into bite-sized pieces, making it easy to eat. Mixing in some minced ginger would probably add a nice refreshing touch. The udon noodles are thin and smooth, with a good chewiness and a slightly firm texture. The wheat flour has a nice sweetness to it. The broth is quite salty, so be careful not to add too much. The service is a bit slow, giving off a vibe of slow turnover.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while and finally went in around 12:40 pm. More than half of the tables were already taken. I ordered the Special Tempura Bowl for 1000 yen (tax included), which came with shrimp, white fish, various vegetables, and a satisfying lineup. The sauce was a refreshing type with a hint of sweetness. I started eating right after it was served, but the sauce had soaked in and the crispy texture was reduced by half, which was disappointing. I personally prefer a crispy texture in my tempura dishes. Compared to other places, there are other restaurants I prefer for tempura bowls. However, I was happy that this bowl came with both shrimp and white fish. The rice was average, but I found it to be a bit on the smaller side. If you have a big appetite, I recommend getting the larger portion. Next time, I might try the tempura udon without dipping sauce, or go for the daily special.

In the fiercely competitive area of Nihonbashi to Kanda, known for tempura and soba, there is a restaurant that specializes in tempura and udon noodles. Their tempura and udon set costs 1,000 yen and includes a large shrimp tempura, squid tempura, and two vegetable tempura (eggplant and pumpkin). You can choose between cold and hot udon, and I opted for cold to beat the heat. The tempura was crispy, and the shrimp was delicious all the way to the tail, with a firm texture. The udon noodles were thin like Inaniwa udon, with a good chewy texture. The dipping sauce for both the tempura and noodles was decent, but in a neighborhood filled with top-notch restaurants, I felt like it needed a little something extra.

I am at an udon restaurant, but I have never tried their udon because I always order the daily Japanese set meal for 1,000 yen. It's limited in quantity, so it's best to arrive early. Sometimes there is a line even before 12 o'clock, but today I was able to enter right away. The daily special is clam mixed rice, and the great thing about this place is that you can get a large portion even with mixed rice. I gratefully ask for a large portion. Inside the restaurant, there are small tables for two, but the size is just right for one person. After a while, the meal arrives. Clam, burdock root, and konjac mixed rice. Grilled fish, bonito sashimi, and miso soup with root vegetables and mitsuba. Plenty of healthy side dishes for Japanese people. You can also add udon for an additional 300 yen, but this is more than enough. Thank you for the meal.

I went to the restaurant around 1 pm on a weekday by myself. There are about 10 table seats in the restaurant. The menu offers a set of tempura rice bowl and udon for 1,000 yen. All menu items are priced at 1,000 yen for simplicity. The popular daily Japanese set meal with great cost performance tends to sell out quickly, so it's better to go early. You can get a free extra serving of rice, and the extra serving of udon costs an additional 200 yen. The udon noodles are thin and delicious. I asked for a large serving of rice with my tempura rice bowl, and it was satisfying without feeling too heavy. The service is provided by a friendly and energetic woman who efficiently serves the customers even during busy times. The waiting time from ordering to receiving the food is short even when the restaurant is crowded, which is a plus. Just a reminder, they only accept cash payments!

This is my second visit. 3.0→3.5 A 5-minute walk from Kanda Station. There was only one customer in the restaurant with tables lined up. I had udon last time, but the daily special limited quantity dish looked delicious, so I decided to visit. Today, I ordered the daily special Japanese set meal for 1000 yen, which included Five Great Special Chicken Rice, fresh sashimi of live shimeji and tuna with sesame ponzu sauce, and black pork shabu-shabu. It was served in less than 5 minutes. In general, for 1000 yen, this was surprisingly affordable! The chicken rice in the container had crispy bits, with shimeji mushrooms and carrots, and the seasoning was just right. The miso soup was surprisingly good with sake lees in it. It had various ingredients like watercress and was a nice change. The meal also came with a good salad, and the black pork shabu-shabu had a generous amount of tender and delicious meat. The sashimi had only one piece of live shimeji, but it had a firm texture and a rich flavor. The three pieces of tuna were thick and quite cost-effective for lunch. Thank you for the meal.

This is my first visit. Located about a 3-4 minute walk from Kanda Station, this place offers traditional Japanese cuisine and has a fairly upscale interior. I sat at a table. Today, I ordered the Sea Bream Udon with Sesame Sauce for 1000 yen. They grill natural sea bream, shred it, and mix it with sesame sauce. It was brought to me in about 10 minutes. The udon was served in two layers. There was a bowl with chopped myoga and cucumber, as well as a small plate with green onions and tempura crumbs. The sauce was thick and sticky. The udon was unique. The surface was shiny and it had been cooled with cold water. It had a firm texture with a sweet flavor when chewed. The sesame sauce was quite rich, with a strong sesame flavor. Although there was sea bream in it, it was a bit lacking compared to the sesame sauce. The variety and amount of condiments made it enjoyable. This seems to be a weekly special menu item, with the regular menu offering Tempura Udon. The daily set meal today was Morning-Caught Horse Mackerel Fry, Yellowtail Sashimi, and Chicken Nanban. This also looked delicious. Next time, I think I'll try the Tempura Udon or a set meal with a fish dish that looks good. Thank you for the meal.

This is "Kanda Godai," an udon izakaya along the Nihonbashi Street owned by the Honjinbo Group. The Honjinbo Group consists of eight companies including Ikuma Consultancy Co., Ikuma Enterprise Co., Ajikan Co., Tokiwa Co., Honjinbo Co., Kamekura Co., Yukiko Co., and Shichifuku Co. The group started in 1978 with a counter-only shop in Shinbashi Umon Street and now has over ten stores in the Tokyo metropolitan area, with dozens of apprentices nationwide. In the Kanda Minami area, following the openings of Kanda Honjinbo (2010), Kanda Ajikan (2012), Kanda Manmaru (2015) -> Uotomi, Uosho (2016), Kanda Godai opened in 2017. Later in 2018, Yuto Gyoko also opened. According to the websites of Akariya and Kosen, who trained at the Honjinbo Group, it is mentioned that "President Ikuma Yamamoto is an apprentice at his uncle's shop (a soba shop next to Hirabayashi Temple) under the guidance of his mentor, Tomosho Katakura." I visited during the weekday lunchtime. The restaurant has a total of 28 seats with 2-4 person tables. Lunch is basically around 1,000 yen. There are set meals, udon and rice bowl sets, tempura udon, duck udon, and special tempura rice bowl on the menu. I was a bit indecisive, but I chose the special tempura rice bowl (1,000 yen). There was another menu item called "upper tempura rice bowl," so is the special one better than the upper one? The special tempura rice bowl includes fresh conger eel, 2 large shrimp, eggplant, pumpkin, and egg tempura. It comes with a side dish, pickles, and miso soup. The crispy tempura with sweet and savory sauce was consistently delicious. They also have drinks like Kokuryu, Juyondai, and Joknow, but it may not be the best for casual drinking.

As it's getting colder, I thought about having hot pot and decided to try this place. The restaurant itself is well-maintained and has a different atmosphere from typical bars. I ordered the eel, assorted hot pot, and finishing udon, along with a few other dishes. Everything was prepared with care and the service was excellent! I definitely want to go back again!! Looking forward to visiting again soon!

After some time had passed, I wandered around looking for a place to have dinner. There were only bars around here, which was a bit of a problem. However, I noticed a restaurant with "Tendon" written on the menu outside, so I decided to go in and try it. The Tendon cost 1,100 yen (with less rice). It had two shrimp tempura, pumpkin, kisu fish, king oyster mushroom, and a half-cooked egg tempura. Hmm, something seems to be missing from the tempura... maybe sweetness? I love kisu tempura, but the one here was too salty. I wonder if it was really kisu fish? The fact that they didn't just serve shrimp tempura alone is commendable, but I'm not sure if I would come back to eat here again. Perhaps this place is more suited for drinkers after all.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while, but I always gave up because there were always people lining up outside. However, I happened to find it empty one day, so I decided to give it a try even though I wasn't in the mood for seafood. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere with only table seating. I was drawn to the lunch special which included a tempura bowl with two large prawns and shiitake mushrooms for only 800 yen. The tempura bowl also had pumpkin in it. The tempura bowl arrived after a short wait and it was simple yet delicious. The tempura batter was light, and the dipping sauce was more on the salty side than sweet. I tried a bite of the prawn tempura and it was slightly rare, which I really enjoyed. The prawns were soft and juicy, and the shiitake mushrooms were also large and juicy. For 800 yen, this was a great deal. It's no wonder it's in Kanda. The miso soup was also flavorful and I finished every last bit of it. They also have daily specials, grilled fish, simmered fish, and negitoro bowls, so I definitely want to visit again. Thank you for the meal!

The lunch at the south exit area of Kanda called "Godai" used to be known for its udon lunch, but now they no longer serve udon. They offer tempura dishes, fried oysters, and a daily special for 900 yen. The daily special options include a seafood bowl and "warm tofu". My friend chose the daily special, while I went with the large shrimp tempura bowl for 800 yen. The restaurant only has table seating, with a mix of tables for 2 and 4 people. Be prepared to share a 4-person table with others. My shrimp tempura bowl arrived in about 5 minutes. It had 2 shrimp, small mushrooms, and pumpkin tempura. The shrimp weren't as big as expected, more like a double shrimp tempura bowl. The batter was crispy, almost crunchy. The pumpkin was average, and the mushrooms were disappointing, possibly overcooked. The sauce, a key element of tempura bowls, was a decent balance of sweetness and soy sauce. The rice was okay. The miso soup with seaweed and tofu was nothing special. Overall, it felt like a typical pub lunch. They seem to have a good selection of sake for the evening, including brands like Kuro Ryu, Sakurafubuki, and Ho-o Midori. Maybe it's worth coming back for dinner. Lunch was just okay. Thank you for the meal.

I entered the restaurant around 13:10. There were fewer than 10% of customers present. I ordered the famous tendon for 1000 yen. The dish was ready in about 5-6 minutes. The tempura was not piping hot, so it seemed like it wasn't freshly fried. The tempura was soaked in sauce, making it a bit soggy. Personally, I prefer tempura to be crispy and hot when eaten on its own, but in a tendon dish, I don't mind it being a bit soft. The anago (conger eel) was quite large, almost overflowing from the bowl, but the flesh seemed a bit thin. The squid was not a thick piece but rather a long, skinny tentacle, so it was small in volume. The shrimp was not plump and juicy. However, I liked that the ingredients in the tendon were of high quality, and the tamago (egg) tempura was nicely half-cooked, which left a good impression. The sauce had a strong flavor that paired well with the rice. The miso soup was red miso, providing a contrast to the rich and sweet flavor of the tendon. The balance between the saltiness of the miso soup and the rich sweet flavor of the tendon seemed well-matched. Thank you for the meal.

Visited for lunch and ordered the sashimi set meal (900 yen). The restaurant was a bit crowded, so I waited for a table to be cleared before entering. I sat at a table and checked the menu. They offered various set meals like large shrimp tempura rice bowl and various udon dishes, but I decided to try the sashimi set meal from the daily specials. There was also a negitoro bowl available as the daily special. The set meal included two side dishes of simmered potatoes and pickled vegetables, rice, and miso soup, along with the main sashimi consisting of bonito, sea bream, and octopus. The portion size and quality for the price of under 1,000 yen was unbeatable. The freshness of the sashimi was excellent, with a sweet and delicious taste. The simmered potatoes had a perfect flavor from the broth. It was delicious.
