Tonkatsu set meal for 1,100 yen
There is a small food court on the second floor of a building called Four Seasons Terrace, a little away from Shinagawa Station's Konan Exit. Despite being a food court with only three shops, it has a calm atmosphere. I remember it used to be a soba shop, but this summer a tonkatsu shop opened in its place. Last time I visited this food court was on a public holiday afternoon, and it was very quiet. This time, on a weekday at the same time, it was similarly calm. The place was not crowded, probably due to the time of day, but the udon shop in the food court was closed for a break. I thought the food court was open all day, but it seems I was mistaken. When you order and pay using a tablet, you receive a ticket with a call number on it and wait at your table. After a short wait, several dishes were ready at once, and they called out the numbers. However, there was a problem. Since the tables did not have seasonings, they were all placed in one area, causing a bottleneck. It might be chaotic during peak hours. I wonder if they provide multiple sets during peak times. Also, they have a pickled vegetables bar, which is nice, but there are no small plates for sharing, so people tend to gather around it when the dishes are served, which could be a negative factor. As for the food itself, the pork cutlet was 1.5cm thick, reasonably sized, tender, and left a good impression. However, it was placed on a wire mesh, and the oil drainage was not great, causing the bottom of the breading to become soggy, which was a bit disappointing. The red miso soup had only tofu as an ingredient, which felt a bit lacking. The shredded cabbage was self-service with free refills. The rice could be upgraded to a large portion for the same price. Overall, the price-performance ratio was decent. There was also self-service tea and lemon water, which was a nice touch. Despite some room for improvement, I found it to be a valuable and relaxing spot in the Shinagawa area.
