While strolling around Asakusa, I came across a cute cat-shaped senbei (rice cracker) at a hand-baked senbei shop. They had senbei in various sizes and flavors, from large ones to bite-sized ones, catering to different preferences. The senbei looked perfect for both immediate consumption and as souvenirs. It was a delightful experience!

The main store of Izumiya, located near Asakusa Station on the Ginza Line, is convenient for avoiding crowds and shopping on Kannon Street. Their signature item is "cat senbei" with a variety of cat shapes in different sizes and flavors. Today, I tried the popular "Koneko Hosonaga Bag" (mixed) loved by young children. Although the price is a bit high, the adorable visuals and delicious taste make it worth it. The packaging is cute and high quality, and they accept card payments at the checkout. I will definitely visit again.

Lovely rice cracker shop. There are so many varieties that it's hard to choose. The rice crackers with cat motifs were fresh and cute. The interior of the shop is also adorable and gets you excited! I bought cat-shaped rice crackers and cheese senbei. The cheese in the cheese senbei was amazing. It's a wonderful shop where you want to buy a lot of things. It's the best for souvenirs.

We left the hotel and took a taxi to Asakusa. Our goal was to get a Goshuin (temple stamp). There were quite a few people there, so we quickly prayed and got the stamp. On the way back, my wife suggested buying some hand-baked senbei. After returning to Tokyo, we tried them out and found colorful cat-shaped senbei. They were delicious, but we quickly ran out of our favorite flavors.

A shop selling cute cat-shaped rice crackers. They have a lineup of cat-shaped rice crackers in various sizes: Extra Large Cat 26cm, Large Cat 11cm, Medium Cat 7cm, and Small Cat 3cm! The recommended one is the Medium Cat 7cm rice cracker, each individually wrapped in different flavors. There are a total of 18 flavors to choose from, including White Cat made with white sugar, Matcha, and Aonori, as well as Nishihara Island Cat made with ingredients from Okinawa. The Laughing Nori Cat is modeled after a pet named "Nori-chan". They all look delicious and cute, making it hard to choose! This time, I tried the Miso and White Sugar flavors. The Miso flavor is sweet and savory, with a gentle taste. The shop also has a variety of other rice crackers besides the cat-shaped ones, like Cheese and Nori-wrapped rice crackers. I'm curious to try other cat-shaped ones next time. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Imado Shrine and then went to a cat-shaped rice cracker shop. Everything was so cute, I couldn't decide which one to get. The shop had both big and small cat-shaped rice crackers, and the paper bag they gave me was thick and had adorable cat illustrations on it. It was a cat lover's paradise! ^_^

Established in the 15th year of the Showa era, this long-standing rice cracker shop has a branch on the Nakamise shopping street in Asakusa. One thing that will surely catch your eye when passing by the shop is the cat-shaped rice crackers displayed outside. They are simply called "Neko Senbei" (Cat Rice Crackers). According to the shop's description, "At Izumiya, we have been living with cats for generations. Currently, we have Kuro and Nori-chan, the seaweed cat." Buying these rice crackers ultimately contributes to the happiness of the cats, which is irresistible for cat lovers like me.
There are three sizes and over 15 flavors available, but let's bring home the following two cat characters:
- Large Cat "Nori" - 250 yen
- Large Cat "Pink Sugar" - 250 yen
The "Nori" cat is a tribute to Izumiya's beloved cat. The taste is honestly a bit lacking in depth, with a light and moderate hardness (but still delicious). However, cuteness is the main appeal here. The "Pink Sugar" cat has a soy sauce-based rice cracker coated with sugar, offering a sweet and salty flavor. Equally adorable!
Both rice crackers are shaped like cats without detailed facial features, making it easier to enjoy without feeling guilty. Although they may seem a bit pricey, the overwhelming love for cats makes up for it. So, why not consider these cat rice crackers as souvenirs for your Asakusa sightseeing trip? It might even awaken your love for cats. Cats are great, after all.

While walking in Asakusa, I stumbled upon a shop with a cute display and decided to go inside. Besides the nostalgic senbei, there were various adorable rice crackers lined up. I couldn't resist wanting everything. It was difficult to control my urge to buy due to the tempting display of products. This time, I purchased a variety of flavors of cat-shaped rice crackers. I'm excited to have found a shop that would make a great gift. My friend took a photo of the exterior, but I forgot to take a picture of the actual products I bought. Thank you so much!

Izumiya in Asakusa is a traditional shop with a famous shop cat. I love walking in the old town to feel the Edo atmosphere. Places like Yanaka and Asakusa tempt me with the smell of freshly baked rice crackers. I might prefer corn or rice snacks over potato chips. As I follow the scent, I sense a cat aura! It turned out to be a shop selling cat-shaped rice crackers. They had various flavors like strawberry and sauce, in addition to the classic ones. The shop was established in 1940, and their "karashi," "zarami," and "wasabi" flavors were delicious. It's a great souvenir for cat lovers. Thank you for the delicious treats!

Long time no see, Asakusa! This time, the purpose of visiting Asakusa is here!! Izumiya Honten! Founded in 1940, this senbei shop is loved by my mother. With permission from the shop staff, I took some photos. My mother loves their senbei so much that I occasionally send her a package by courier. I also got some souvenirs for Tsubasa this time. These are my mother's favorite two types. The hardest Mangetsu and hand-baked senbei. They are a bit pricey, but really delicious. Simple and nostalgic hard-baked senbei. My mother says she finds modern senbei too soft and unsatisfying. That's why she craves Izumiya's hard-baked senbei. Of course, Tsubasa loves them too! They go well with strong green tea, which is Tsubasa's favorite combination! Plus, they don't get humid easily and have a good shelf life, so I highly recommend them!

I received this cute cat-shaped rice cracker from a friend. Despite the small quantity, there were many different flavors to enjoy. The strawberry flavor was delicious, but sweetly flavored ones tend to have the sweetness and the rice cracker separate. It also came with stickers, which I think would be appealing to children.

I came across a shop nearby and decided to buy some cat-shaped senbei as a gift for my husband's parents. There were so many types to choose from, but I ended up buying two packs of cat-shaped arare. I also got myself some miso and shrimp flavored cat senbei. The shop was small but filled with lots of cute cat-shaped products, which made browsing fun. The cashier was an old man who didn't give me a receipt, so I don't remember the exact total, but it was around ¥2,000. The next day, I tried the cat senbei. The miso flavor was sweet and had a chewy texture that stuck to my teeth. It wasn't really my type. The shrimp flavor wasn't sweet and lacked the strong shrimp taste I was expecting. I regretted not buying the soy sauce flavor instead.

I stopped by for a souvenir and found that the popular item, "rabbit-shaped mochi," was sold out. But the kind shopkeeper brought out a fresh batch from the back for me to purchase. The small rice crackers are famous and well-loved by those in the know. When I brought them to my friend's house, they mentioned that they had disappeared mysteriously before. They can be sprinkled over rice porridge or enjoyed on their own, especially with a drink. Although they may seem a bit pricey at 700 yen per bottle, delicious things are worth it. The various shapes of the rice crackers make them a cute gift option as well.

I stopped by when I visited Asakusa. This is an old-established store founded in 1940. They have a great variety of rice crackers. There are glass jars lined up with various rice crackers in them, giving off a nostalgic vibe. I picked up the following items in a basket inside the store:
- Cat-shaped senbei (green, pink, white, sauce flavor): The shape of a cat with its ears up, although it doesn't have a face. The taste varies depending on the color, with the sauce flavor having a distinct sauce taste.
- Nori senbei: Covered in luxurious black seaweed.
- Rice grain rice crackers: Available in soy sauce and sesame flavors, with a slightly firm and light taste.
- Kokeshi rice crackers: Many cute kokeshi rice crackers with different kimono colors and designs. The head part contains peanut-filled snacks, while the body part is soy sauce-flavored rice crackers.
All the rice crackers were crispy and tasted very fresh, typical of a specialty store from a long-established brand. They were different from those sold in stores. When I took these items to the counter to pay, the lady calculated the total to be around 2320 yen. After I paid, she told me the change amount. A sophisticated elderly man in a white coat, who seemed to be quite old, quietly handed me the change near the register. Perhaps he was the previous owner. It was lovely to see him still overseeing the store. I definitely want to visit this place again when I come back to Asakusa. I couldn't talk to them this time, but I'd be happy to hear more about their rice crackers on a less busy weekday. In the end, I didn't get a receipt, so I don't know the exact prices of each item, but it's okay. Thank you for the meal.
