Visiting Isetan Shinjuku. Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, events that involve large numbers of people have been mostly canceled. One of the most popular events in Japan is Comiket, where hundreds of thousands of people attend. Last year, it couldn't be held, but in 2022, both the summer and winter editions were successfully held, which is great news. Although it's now ticketed and not as easy to attend spontaneously, it's important to continue these events for the sake of cultural preservation. I couldn't go this time due to work, but I hope to attend the summer Comiket next time. Now, let's talk about "Pomology" at Shinjuku Isetan. This patisserie has been located there since 2020, offering cakes and baked goods mainly using fruits. Their circular cake called "Pomology" is quite popular. It's located across from "Noix de Bour" and "Sadaharu Aoki," so it has a relatively large space. With a theme focused on fruits, they offer fruit bars, fruit-filled pies, and other colorful pastries. They have around 10 types of cakes, with the signature "Pomology" being a bit larger and priced between 700 to 900 yen. Although I wanted to visit after work, they tend to sell out quickly. So, I went early on my day off to reserve some cakes. Here's what I tried: Strawberry Pomology, Orange Chocolate Pomology, Red Apple Pomology, Cheesecake with 5 types of dried fruits, and Tiramisu with Amaou strawberries. The cakes were delicious, especially the strawberry jam in the Strawberry Pomology. The Orange Chocolate Pomology had slices of Navel oranges, and the Red Apple Pomology had a refreshing apple taste. The Cheesecake with dried fruits was colorful and tasty, and the Tiramisu with Amaou strawberries was a delightful treat. I would love to try their Peach Pomology in the summer. Thank you for the meal!
