KOBABA
It's about a 5-minute walk from Nakano Station North Exit. It's located inside the Sanmall shopping street. I had been there a few times before and always had the impression that the grilled fish wasn't that tasty. However, my wife said it was good so we decided to give it another try. To be honest, what really drew me in was the 165 yen draft beer (laughs). We arrived around 11:30 am on a Saturday and since the first floor was full, we were seated on the second floor. The first floor only has counter seats, while the second floor has table seating. The restaurant opened in September last year, so the interior is clean and nice. The stairs to the second floor are steep, so be careful. We ordered the following: "Seasonal Fish Set" (980 yen), "Mackerel Sun-Dried Set" (979 yen), "Tuna Chutoro" (90 yen), "Raw Egg" (55 yen), and "Draft Beer" (165 yen). We started with a cold draft beer, cheers! It may seem a bit small in quantity, but for this price and being ice cold, it's good enough (laughs). While waiting for our set meals, we snacked on the tuna chutoro. It was nicely grilled over charcoal and had a good balance of flavor and fatty texture. Definitely worth the 90 yen. The main grilled fish set arrived. It came with grilled fish, rice, miso soup, grated radish, and pickles. The mackerel sun-dried was flavorful and had a nice saltiness, with a good amount of fat. The seasonal fish, "Ginhirasu," was new to me and it was delicious. It had a light and refreshing taste with a good amount of fat. The teriyaki sauce was great. Sweet and salty, it went well with the rice. The bill can be settled with a QR code. It's interesting how different each branch of a restaurant can be. It's important not to judge food without trying it. This place offers a variety of set meals with options for fish, chicken, pork, and beef, allowing for a diverse selection. The prices are reasonable. I will definitely go back. Thank you for the meal!
