I recently started (or resumed?) having lunch at this izakaya along the back streets of Tsukiji. When I visited around 1 pm on Monday or Tuesday, they were out of rice. Today, they had rice available since they had just opened for the day. For lunch, the only option is the "legendary ginger pork" for ¥800, so I ordered it with a smaller portion of rice. The thick slices of meat with a strong ginger flavor were excellent. It was a great value for lunch.

Platto, today's lunch was a stroll around Tsukiji Station. Exiting from Exit 1 of the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line Tsukiji Station, turn right onto Shintomi-cho, walk a little and you will reach a traffic light in front of Tsukiji Honganji Temple. Just before this traffic light, make a quick right turn and continue straight until you reach another traffic light at Tsukiji 7-chome. Cross this light, turn right, then turn left at the first T-junction, walk a bit, and turn left at the second crossroads. On your right, you will find the restaurant I visited today, "Yocchan". I entered the restaurant at 12:00 pm on a weekday. There were no other customers inside. The chef greeted me warmly and showed me to a table near the entrance. This place only serves lunch on weekdays, with only one menu option available: the "Legendary Ginger Grilled Pork Set" for 800 yen. I ordered the "Legendary Ginger Grilled Pork Set" from the chef. After a 10-minute wait, the set was served, consisting of ginger grilled pork, pickled vegetables, shredded cabbage, bean sprouts, rice, and miso soup. The ginger grilled pork was delicious, with a refreshing ginger flavor and a sweet and salty sauce that complemented the rice well. The pork was tender and flavorful, making for a satisfying meal. I finished by enjoying the cabbage, bean sprouts, pickled vegetables, and miso soup. Today, I had the pleasure of savoring the one-choice "Legendary Ginger Grilled Pork Set" for lunch at Yocchan. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I was able to have a small group gathering with a tuna-focused menu at Tsukiji. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the chef and his close friend for accommodating my selfish request. The meal started with appetizers where tuna was freshly prepared from the half-body using a shell, and we enjoyed the essence of tuna by eating it with salt instead of soy sauce. For the main course, we indulged in rare tuna cuts such as brain, belly, cheek meat, and more. Everything was incredibly delicious! We also had a homemade karasumi as a palate cleanser. The karasumi was marinated in 8 different salts and a certain famous sake, making it a delightful treat! To finish off, we had monkfish hot pot. The chef skillfully prepared the monkfish in front of us, and we enjoyed a delicious monkfish hot pot and porridge. It was a satisfying and wonderful day. Thank you, and I look forward to visiting again!

This restaurant has now become a place where only regular customers who used to visit in the past can make reservations. The ingredients are still luxurious, and you can enjoy delicious food at this affordable price that you can't find elsewhere. During the pandemic, the restaurant was temporarily closed, but it has finally reopened recently, allowing me to enjoy their delicious dishes after a long time. I hope the chef stays healthy and continues to delight us with delicious food. Stay healthy forever!

You can enjoy happiness shared with your loved ones. Various surprises unfolding right in front of you. Can this be possible at this price? I think it's a gem in Tsukiji or even in Tokyo. It's self-service for drinks, but that's good. They explain the whole process of breaking down the tuna. You can eat parts that are not normally available, served as nigiri! They provide the best ingredients available at that time!

I finally went to the legendary restaurant "Tsukiji Izakaya Yocchan"! It's located in a really hard-to-find place. The style of this restaurant is that the owner "Yocchan" welcomes one group of customers a day with a seafood feast. It seems like quite a few celebrities also visit the place. When you go to the restaurant, you are led to a room upstairs. The first floor is not used much now. The room has one table for 6-8 people. This is where "Yocchan's" cooking show begins. There is no menu. It's recommended to go with around 6 people. They serve precious seafood sourced from Toyosu Market. So, they don't have a menu because they buy fresh ingredients at the market in the morning. However, this means that rare and fresh seafood is served at a reasonable price. The dishes served include appetizers, medium fatty tuna sashimi, fatty tuna sashimi platter, turban shell sashimi, crab and shrimp platter (snow crab, Echizen crab, slipper lobster, spiny lobster), monkfish shabu-shabu, and porridge. Each dish is explained and prepared in front of you, making it a fun experience. Moreover, the dishes are all fresh and delicious! The portions are also generous. Normally, dishes like tuna would cost quite a bit. I would love to come back for future year-end parties!

We had a dinner party with 6 people on the second floor sofa. The seating was a bit tight and uncomfortable, but we were able to enjoy delicious fish and sake in a relaxed atmosphere. The sashimi, including the rare parts like the middle cut shaved with clam shells and the tuna head, was fresh and tasty. The sashimi of turban shell was surprisingly large and everyone was impressed. We will definitely visit again.

As you all may know, there are many delicious sushi restaurants in Tsukiji, but have you ever thought that the prices are quite high? For those of you looking for a more affordable option, I recommend "Izakaya Yocchan"! The owner, Mr. Yoshida, sources fresh seafood from his own network in Tsukiji and serves it deliciously and affordably. Since Mr. Yoshida is a fish professional, he will teach you in an easy-to-understand way how to enjoy the fresh and delicious seafood even more through cooking. The restaurant offers not only sashimi platters but also hand-rolled sushi and angler hot pot, providing a fun and delicious dining experience. You can enjoy delicious food at a lower price, so if you're in Tsukiji, why not stop by this restaurant? Moreover, the restaurant is open until early morning, so you can even enjoy an after-party with glamorous ladies from Ginza or Roppongi who might say, "Let's have some delicious seafood!" Another great thing is that while many restaurants in Tsukiji are closed on Sundays due to the market being closed, "Izakaya Yocchan" is open on Sundays! I have always found Sunday sushi restaurants to have poor quality and not worth the price, but thanks to this restaurant, I can enjoy a delicious time even on Sundays. Just one thing to note!! It is recommended to call ahead before visiting the restaurant. If there is a party or a large number of guests, you may not be able to get a seat, so it's best to make a reservation or confirm in advance.

It's a place that generally requires reservations, but we were able to get in relatively easily. However, after the complimentary oysters, the food just didn't come out. Since there was only an omakase menu available, we couldn't order anything specific. It was tough waiting over 30 minutes with only drinks. The tuna assortment that finally arrived was delicious in some parts. However, one of the shellfish, possibly abalone, was extremely fishy. The owner seems like a nice person, but he didn't seem to listen to our feedback at all. Even when we mentioned wanting to try the place for a while, he didn't react. Instead, he just gave instructions like "put wasabi directly on the sashimi" or "the cheek of the tuna is guaranteed to be delicious." It felt like he was lacking in hospitality. In the end, we only had the tuna assortment, which cost 10,000 yen per person. We had a few drinks while waiting for the food, but if you ask if it was worth it for just that meal... I'm not so sure. It's the type of place where you might pay for the atmosphere, but even then, there was no umbrella stand on a rainy day, and we had to awkwardly prop our umbrellas near the entrance. The tables and chairs were small and cramped. One of my companions described it as a "self-satisfied restaurant," and I can see why.

When I went to Tsukiji, I found a small restaurant and decided to try it out. There was no menu, and the dishes were mostly omakase, meaning chef's choice. It was my first time at the restaurant, so I was honestly a bit scared. The first dishes were simmered taro as a side dish and sashimi (tuna, sea bream). I decided to stop ordering more dishes halfway through. The sashimi tasted quite ordinary, with no outstanding features. The taro was surprisingly delicious, maybe due to the quality of the ingredient. If there is no menu, the restaurant should inform customers clearly before they enter. The atmosphere of the restaurant was not particularly welcoming, and the service was okay. However, the regular customers at another table received excellent service, which left a strong impression on me. Therefore, I may have praised the staff's attentive service too much in my review. Those who have a spirit of adventure should definitely give this place a try.
