Located just a 3-4 minute walk from Tokyo Metro Akasaka-Mitsuke Station, this renowned restaurant is selected as one of the top 100 restaurants in the area. The main branch is a long-standing traditional Kyoto cuisine restaurant in Gion, Kyoto, dating back to the early Showa period. The Akasaka branch has been serving authentic Kyoto cuisine for over 40 years. While dinner can cost tens of thousands of yen, the lunch menu offers a taste of the traditional flavors at a more affordable price, making it a popular spot in the neighborhood. During a weekday afternoon around 1:00 pm, the restaurant was almost full, showcasing its popularity. The most ordered item seems to be the "Yasaka" set, which includes dashimaki, red miso soup, small dishes, pickles, and rice. I opted for this set as well and was impressed by the presentation and taste of the dishes, especially the dashimaki which was exceptionally delicious. The freshly cooked rice served in a special rice pot was also a highlight of the meal. Overall, the experience exceeded my expectations, and I believe this restaurant stands out even among the many famous establishments in the area. It may be challenging to revisit due to its popularity, but I hope to find another opportunity to enjoy their exquisite cuisine and reaffirm the beauty of Japanese food culture.

Located a 2-3 minute walk from Akasaka-Mitsuke Station, this traditional Japanese restaurant is famous for its dashimaki tamago (rolled omelette). Originating from Kyoto's Gion district, this restaurant has over 40 years of history in Akasaka. Upon entering through the charming wooden gate and sliding door, you'll find a large traditional wooden house that exudes a unique atmosphere for Akasaka. I visited on a weekday around 11:30 am and was seated immediately. The first floor features spacious tatami rooms, with a large L-shaped counter and an open kitchen area, as well as private rooms for 4 or 6 people. I was led to a private room for 4 on the first floor. The table setting with a vinyl lace tablecloth gave a nostalgic feel, like visiting your grandma's house. I ordered the Yasaki (small dish, dried fish) dashimaki meal set (1500 yen), which came with side dishes of hijiki seaweed, sautéed dried fish, pickles, and rice served in a wooden rice container. The freshly cooked rice was fluffy and delicious, paired well with the side dishes. The highlight was the piping hot, fluffy, and creamy dashimaki tamago, which was served without any burnt edges and had a subtle dashi flavor. The grated daikon radish was served with a gentle dashi soy sauce, complementing the overall mild flavors. The red miso soup provided a nice contrast with its bold flavor. Both the dashimaki tamago and rice showcased the craftsmanship of the chef, making it a delightful Japanese lunch experience.

Visited before 12 o'clock on Tuesday. Was able to enter without waiting. By 12 o'clock, there was a line. Once seated, rice and pickles were already prepared. Ordered the rolled omelette from the menu and it was quickly served with red miso soup. The rolled omelette was fluffy and there was a lot of it, but I managed to finish it all! Overall, the flavors were gentle and comforting. You can get a refill of rice.

I had been wanting to try the dashimaki tamago with a rich dashi flavor, so I decided to visit "Yagenbori Akasaka" in Akasaka. It was about a 5-minute walk from Akasaka-Mitsuke Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line. When I arrived on a Saturday just before opening, there were about 10 people in line. The exterior of the restaurant had a Kyoto-style atmosphere, even though it was located in Akasaka. Upon entering, we were greeted with a warm "Welcome!" in a Kyoto-style manner, adding to the special and non-daily feeling of the place. I ordered the "Yasaka" set for 1500 yen, which included the dashimaki tamago as the main dish, along with side dishes such as simmered hijiki seaweed, pickles, dried baby sardines with Japanese pepper, red miso soup, and unlimited refills of rice in a wooden rice container. The dashimaki tamago was fluffy and delicious, with a generous amount of dashi flavor. It seemed to be the most popular dish, as the chef was constantly cooking it. The hijiki seaweed was also flavorful with a subtle Kyoto-style taste, and it paired well with the various pickles and side dishes. By the end of the meal, I was bid farewell with a "Thank you!" in a Kyoto-style manner, making the whole experience feel like a special journey to Kyoto. It was a delicious meal! Thank you very much.

I stopped by this restaurant that I had been eyeing on Tabelog, and it was my first visit. Even on a Saturday with many people off from work, there were a lot of customers coming for lunch. I arrived around 12:30 pm. I was asked if I was okay with sharing a table with other customers, and I said "Of course," so I didn't have to wait long to be seated. I ordered the very large dashimaki tamago that I had seen in the photos. It was delicious. I personally prefer mild flavors, and even though it was a generous portion, the taste was gentle, so I ended up eating it all. By the time I finished, I was full. The dried fish, pickles, and miso soup were all top-notch, true to the taste of a long-established restaurant. The thoughtful voice of the young female staff at the restaurant was also lovely. If I ever go to Akasaka again, I will definitely visit this restaurant.

I visited a restaurant as part of my tour of 100 famous restaurants and had lunch. The restaurant had a refined atmosphere amidst the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. The interior was reminiscent of Arashiyama in Kyoto for a moment. The dashimaki tamago set meal had a gentle flavor. The egg was firm enough to pick up with chopsticks but also soft and creamy. The rice served in a wooden rice container was also very delicious. I thought I would like to come back for dinner sometime.

This time I chose the tamagoyaki. I also splurged on the sashimi. You should definitely order the sashimi. Each slice has a rich protein texture that goes very well with the vinegared rice. I'm not a big fan of sea urchin, but it was delicious and I enjoyed it.

I visited around noon on a weekday. There were still seats available, so I didn't have to wait. After about 30 minutes, the place quickly became full. The staff seemed to be very busy as there were not many of them. This was my second visit, and just like last time, I ordered the "Yasaka" dashimaki set. The rice comes in a wooden container and you can have unlimited refills. The set includes pickles, shredded dried fish, simmered hijiki seaweed, and red miso soup. The side dishes are surprisingly delicious. The main dish, the dashimaki, is served quickly. It's soft and fluffy, with the broth oozing out when you bite into it, making you feel happy. It's so delicious that you'll want to eat it again and again. The only thing that bothers me is that some people get one slice of rolled omelette while others get two. I've noticed this in reviews and among other customers on the day I visited. It doesn't seem like the price varies based on the size, so I'm not sure if they are all the same size. Lunchtime is quite busy and the turnover is fast, so it may not be suitable for those who want to take their time.

The tamagoyaki was fluffy and delicious. The rice was also freshly cooked and tasty. It's a great place for solo diners to grab a quick meal, as the service is fast. The set meal cost 1500 yen, which is reasonable. It's not something I would eat every week, but I've added it to my occasional dining list!

I thoroughly enjoyed the dashimaki tamago. Ways to eat it: 1. As is 2. With grated daikon radish 3. Over rice with soy sauce on top 4. Over rice with egg and pickles, drizzled with hojicha tea. It's a large dashimaki, so you can enjoy it in various ways. There were no lines at 11:30. Around 12pm, there were about 5 people outside. The majority were women.

Yasaka, ¥1,500 Located in a townhouse-style shop tucked away from the bustling street of Akasaka Mitsuke, Inuyarai feels like a hidden alley in Kyoto itself. The entrance, where shoe clips are provided for your footwear and a ticket for the shoe keeper, suggests the presence of shoe attendants in the past. The seating is primarily in a tatami room, but you may also be directed to sit on the floor by the counter in front of the kitchen. The kitchen is even lower, with a traditional Japanese chef welcoming you with a warm "oideyasu". During lunchtime, the menu consists of three options: Yasaka (rolled omelette), Sagano (tofu), and Kamogawa (grated yam rice), as well as a chef's choice course. Each order comes with a set of small dishes and dried fish on a tray, with Yasaka including a meal set (rice, red miso soup, pickles). The main dish, the generously sized rolled omelette, is served hot and fluffy, flavored with delicious broth and topped with grated daikon radish for a refreshing taste. The small dishes, such as simmered hijiki seaweed and dried fish seasoned with mountain pepper, complement the meal perfectly. The rice, served in a wooden container, is about 1.5 bowls worth, accompanied by a variety of pickles like cucumber, pickled ginger, and eggplant. Even without meat or fish, you'll feel satisfied and full. The walls are adorned with names of seasonal Kyoto ingredients like "duck and eggplant" and "Man'nenji chili peppers", hinting at the enjoyment of sake with these delicacies in the evenings. As you are bid farewell with an "ookini", payment can be made at the table-height counter, making you feel like you should be seated there as well. While it may cater more to Tokyo residents, you'll find yourself feeling like you're in Kyoto.

Good evening! I will repeat it 100%. This time I chose chilled sesame soup. I was also interested in the sashimi. You can have unlimited rice refills. The quality of the rice served in the traditional wooden container is excellent. The pickles and miso soup are also delicious. I am also curious about their dinner menu.

I went on a lunch expedition to Akasaka. It's a famous place known for its fluffy omelette. I had the Yasaki set for 1,500 yen, which included pickles, miso soup, and side dishes, all delicious. The omelette alone was enough to fill me up! The atmosphere was also very nice. It wasn't crowded during lunchtime, so I was able to get in without waiting in line.

Visited on Saturday at 12:30. Waited for about 10 minutes in line with 3 groups before being seated. Upon sitting down, small appetizers and pickles were already served, along with hot tea in a teapot. Ordered the "Yasaka Dashimaki Tamago" for 1,500 yen. Started with red miso soup and a bowl of rice served in a wooden box. The menu suggested making ochazuke with the rice, which was probably why it was served first. The red miso soup was slightly lukewarm, and the rice was glossy and delicious. You can ask for a refill of rice. After a few minutes, the dashimaki tamago arrived. It was surprisingly large in portion! Fluffy and tasty, but quite lightly seasoned, so it can get a bit bland without grated daikon. It felt lacking in side dishes, so I ended up eating the rice with pickles. If dining with 2 or more people, it might be better to order different dishes to share. The ambiance of the restaurant, styled like an old folk house, was very charming, but the staff were a bit brusque, which was disappointing.

The atmosphere is amazing even before entering. It feels like you're in Kyoto♪♪ The dashimaki is so soft and delicious! It goes well with grated daikon. The rice in the ohitsu, pickles, miso soup, simmered hijiki, everything is amazing! The dried fish with sansho pepper is a nice touch✨It may be a bit extravagant for a ¥1,500 lunch, but I definitely want to go again!

I come around here every week, but it's been 2 years since I last came in. It was just past 1pm and there was no line, so I walked under the curtain. Lucky me. I didn't have to wait and went straight to the counter. The dashimaki tamago is tempting, but I'm in the mood for tororo gohan. I'll have the Kamogawa set meal, please. It comes with rice in a box, dried small fish, simmered hijiki seaweed, and red miso soup. I added a little bit of tuna and salmon roe to the soft tororo. I wish there was a bit more tuna. Just one piece isn't enough. But it's still delicious. I'm satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this shop that always has long lines, so I went on a weekday just after 11:30 am to avoid waiting. The shop is famous for its dashimaki tamago, so I decided to order it as well. For 1500 yen, I got a large dashimaki tamago, rice in a wooden rice container, red miso soup, and pickles. The tamago was fluffy and delicious, made with high-quality eggs. However, just eating egg alone was not really my preference. It was tasty, but I don't understand why there are always long lines. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

I had a Kyoto-style dashimaki for lunch. This dish is from the Tokyo branch of Gion Yagenbori in Kyoto, so you can enjoy authentic Kyoto-style dashimaki here. It comes with a side of assorted Kyoto pickles and dried shredded mountain pepper. The rice is served in a wooden rice container and you can have up to three bowls of rice. It was a very satisfying lunch.

After finishing a meeting in Nagatacho, I hurriedly walked to Mitsuke because it was almost 11:30 and I might make it in time. In a quiet alley near Mitsuke, there was a popular restaurant. I arrived at 11:40 and there was still plenty of space inside the restaurant (but it quickly got crowded and filled up to the second floor). I quickly asked if they had the "Tamago" dish, and they said they did, so I promptly placed my order. It was called "Yasaka" and cost 1500 yen. Besides the dashimaki, it came with shredded mountain pepper, hijiki, red miso soup, rice in a pot, and pickles. The freshly made dashimaki, with its size and quivering texture, caught my attention. It was almost like it would collapse if I didn't eat it quickly. However, I felt it lacked a bit of flavor, so I added soy sauce and shichimi pepper from the table for seasoning. It was delicious. I also enjoyed the egg. I was seated at a corner near the kitchen counter, so I could watch the live performance of making dashimaki, which was very entertaining.

Yagenbori Akasaka branch, hangover meal. I decided to go to "Yagenbori" in Akasaka for the first time in a while, thinking that a dashimaki tamago would be nice. The restaurant is located in a slightly hidden alley, and from the outside, it doesn't look like Akasaka at all haha. I tried to capture a good photo, but in reality, it's just a regular Akasaka street. However, inside the restaurant, it has a Kyoto-like atmosphere, giving off a vibe of a traditional long-established place. You have to take off your shoes at the entrance, and the place smells nice with incense burning. There are also traditional Japanese umbrellas displayed, enhancing the Kyoto feel. The restaurant opens at 11:30, and it tends to get full quickly, but if you arrive 10 minutes late, you might find a spot at the counter. The staff's welcoming greeting of "Okoshiyasu" is nice! Sitting at the counter is more relaxed than at a table, where you might end up sharing with others. Recommended menu items: - Yasaka dashimaki tamago 1500 yen - Saga-no-yudofu (tofu hot pot) 1500 yen - Kamogawa tororo gohan (grated yam rice) 1500 yen - Omakase course 4800 yen Dashimaki tamago, yudofu, and tororo gohan. What a healthy lunch! It seemed like everyone was there for the Yasaka dashimaki tamago, and indeed, that was the case. Well, it makes sense, right? Except for one person who ordered the Kamogawa dish. I chose the Yasaka dashimaki tamago. Yasaka dashimaki tamago (1500 yen) arrived, and it looked delicious with steam coming off it. It was fluffy and jiggly. When I took a bite, the dashi flavor overflowed. It was piping hot, almost burning the roof of my mouth, but I still wanted to savor the heat! While it's not a dish that makes you want to eat more rice, it tasted great with rice. The side dishes, including various pickles, were also delightful. The red miso soup was elegant and tasty. Overall, it was a wholesome meal that would surely make you healthy if you ate it every day! The dashimaki tamago was especially outstanding. I've never had such delicious dashimaki tamago before, so I might come back occasionally just for that. It tends to get crowded, so if you plan to visit, it's better to arrive early!

The restaurant is famous for its dashimaki tamago. The budget for dinner is around 10,000 yen, but for lunch it's around 1,000 yen which is more reasonable. I decided to try it out this week after eating dumplings every day. I visited on Saturday at 12:44. There was no line outside, so I entered right away. There were no staff outside, but luckily there was a staff member near the entrance. I was seated at the counter. Most of the customers were female pairs or couples, and I was one of the few dining alone. The staff were mostly Japanese, but there was also a foreign staff member who was trying their best and working hard, which I appreciated. Pickles were already prepared on the table. I was asked for my order right after sitting down, and there was only one option on the menu: "Yasaka (dashimaki tamago, red miso soup, dried baby sardines, side dish, pickles, rice) for 1,500 yen." The rice and dashimaki tamago arrived in about 3 minutes. The rice was refillable. The dashimaki tamago had a generous portion and was layered beautifully. The broth was gentle and the egg was fluffy. It tasted even better with soy sauce and grated daikon radish. The surprising part was the rice - it was served in a bucket and was about 2 servings worth, so even women wouldn't have to worry about the portion size. I naturally had seconds. When I first tasted the rice on its own, I was amazed at how sweet and delicious it was. I finished it in no time, and despite the generous portion, I didn't feel heavy. This meal made me appreciate the greatness of Japanese cuisine once again. Thank you for the meal.
