Visit on April 29, 2023. I have visited the Satake Shotengai many times out of curiosity, but I had never spent money here. My main purpose was to check if it was still there, not for shopping, so my intentions were different. It is said to be the second oldest shopping street in Japan, so when you see this old-fashioned atmosphere, you realize, "Oh, that's right." This quaint charm makes it popular for filming dramas. I remember that an episode of the first series of "Tokkei Keiji" was filmed in the Satake Shotengai, with Rio Hizuki as a guest. I think it was in front of the butcher shop. It is named after the Satake family's mansion that used to be there. Today, while inspecting the shopping street, I came across this cafe. I have never heard of a "family snack" before in my almost 60 years of life, but I thought, "Well, it's a cafe," and decided to go in. There was a cup with "Zun Cafe" on the cute showcase in front of the store. I ordered the Hotcake Set for 660 yen. I requested an iced coffee as my drink. The iced coffee arrived first. I thought it was quick, but it turned out to be a type of coffee that was already sweetened. I thought, "Well, for this price, that's what you get," but I was a bit surprised when the hotcakes arrived later. Despite being small, the beautifully made hotcakes had a really delicious taste, almost bringing tears to my eyes. I suspect that the older man in the kitchen may be quite skilled. It's understandable that there are more customers here for lunch rather than just for coffee. It might be rude to call it an unexpected find. If you're interested, please give it a try. The cream soda also looked delicious and suited the atmosphere of the cafe.

I visited this retro coffee shop in the Satake shopping street in Shin-Okachimachi, which caught my attention the other day. I mustered up the courage to enter. The entrance had a display case with drinks, just like in the old days. Inside, there were a few tables and counter seats, with plenty of manga and magazines available. I had a blend coffee for 340 yen (tax included). Are there any other coffee shops in Tokyo where you can get coffee for under 300 yen, aside from chain stores? The atmosphere inside the shop is calm and it's a good place to relax. Thank you for the meal.

I dropped by for lunch and was drawn to the visual appeal of the curry cutlet. I ordered it and found that it tasted just like the curry cutlet my grandma used to make - crispy cutlet and a well-balanced curry sauce. The restaurant is also known for their spaghetti Napolitan, so I'll try that next time!

Napolitan spaghetti for 640 yen. It had been three years since my last visit. Time seems to have passed too quickly during the pandemic. Last time, I had the omurice, so this time I ordered the Napolitan. It was a classic Napolitan and very delicious! The price was also very reasonable. I didn't have change on me that day, so I didn't have coffee, but during lunchtime, you can add a drink for 260 yen, so next time I want to have coffee as well.

Visited for the first time in 1 year and 2 months on a holiday before 12pm. There were a few customers already seated, so I was led to a table in the back. I received the menu and ordered the omurice with demi-glace sauce for 710 yen, with a large portion for an additional 150 yen. It took a little while, about 15 minutes, for the dish to be served. I was expecting a hearty large portion, but it was not as expected. The texture of the egg and ketchup rice was good when I ate it. However, the taste of the demi-glace sauce was too strong, and the flavor of the ketchup rice did not come through. It seems that choosing ketchup was the right decision. The omurice with ketchup, Napolitan, and crab pilaf were delicious, so it was a bit disappointing. There were many regular customers today, but the cat was not around. I will try the "daily bento" next time.

I went shopping at Daiso inside Takedaya, bought some barley, and had some time before picking up eel at Yamashima, so we had tea at Rocky in Satake Shotengai. My wife had a cafe au lait (430 yen) and I had an iced coffee (480 yen). The iced coffee had coffee ice cubes, so I had to add milk and let it melt while drinking. It was delicious but took longer than expected because the ice cubes melted slowly. This place was also featured on Zun Kissa.

Today's morning stroll took me to the area around Shin-Okachimachi Station. Exiting from the A2 exit of the Toei Oedo Line Shin-Okachimachi Station, I found myself on Kasuga Street. Walking a little towards Kuramae, I came across Satake Shotengai on my right. Upon entering this shopping street and walking for a while, I found Rocky Family Snack on my left. I entered the shop at 10:35 am on a weekday. The interior of the shop had dim lighting towards the front, with the kitchen located at the back, which was brighter. Since there were no other customers, I chose a table near the entrance on the right side and the kitchen in the middle, and checked out the menu. The menu included a variety of drink options, dessert items, and set menus. I ordered the Sandwich Set with a Hot Coffee to satisfy my snack cravings. After a 9-minute wait, the Sandwich Set was served, accompanied by a Hot Coffee. The coffee had a slight bitterness with a smooth finish. The sandwich consisted of ham, cucumber, butter, and mayonnaise, creating a well-balanced combination. It was a perfect breakfast option. I enjoyed the sandwich along with the coffee and finished my meal. Today, I indulged in a well-balanced sandwich at Rocky Family Snack. Thank you for the meal.

The second oldest shopping street in Japan is Satakaya Shopping Street, located near Ueno, and the first oldest is...? A classic cafe called "Snack" has been in business for about 50 years, and despite the common association with serving coffee during the day and alcohol at night, in this case it actually refers more to "snacks" or "treats". The cafe, which was featured on the show "Iio Kazuki's Zunkissa", serves delicious-looking Neapolitan pasta and a unique apricot juice. The Neapolitan pasta comes with a side salad and costs 640 yen for a regular size, which is quite affordable compared to other places. The potato salad is homemade and has a strong potato flavor. The rich sauce is made from a blend of three ingredients including tomato puree, not just ketchup. The sausage and bacon are plentiful in the dish, making it a great value for the price. As a fan of apricots, I was pleased with the juice made by blending apricots soaked in gum syrup and topped with a piece of vanilla ice cream. The menu at this cafe is so appealing that locals never get tired of coming back for their morning, lunch, tea, and break time needs. It's a must-visit spot for those looking for a community-oriented cafe.

Located in the second oldest shopping street in Japan, "Satake Shotengai," this retro cafe is just a 3-minute walk from Shin-Okachimachi Station in the heart of the city. The atmosphere here is reminiscent of the Showa era. I tried the hotcake set for 660 yen, which came with a drink (coffee or tea). The hotcakes were topped with butter and whipped cream, and once melted, they absorbed plenty of syrup into the dough. The balance was exquisite, and they were delicious. In addition to the classic menu items like pizza toast and Napolitan spaghetti, they also offer dishes like curry and ginger pork set meals. The cream soda ordered by the person next to me also looked delicious. This is a wonderful restaurant beloved by the locals and frequently used for TV shoots. I will definitely visit again.

A nostalgic cafe that exudes a Showa era vibe. The menu is diverse with options like curry, omurice, naporitan, and daily specials that are hard to resist. Today, I had the curry which was just the right level of spiciness and very easy to eat. The omurice was also delicious! I'll have to try the makunouchi next time. The coffee after the meal was also great!

On my way back from attending Honshukou's solo exhibition on March 6, 2022, I strolled around Satake Shopping Street. I noticed this shop with an interesting exterior. Hmm, might as well go in since I'm here. When I told the staff I was alone, they seemed a bit puzzled. I sat down and looked at the menu. I thought about just getting a coffee for a break, but the hot dog roll set caught my eye. I ordered the hot dog roll set (690 yen) with a hot coffee. It took longer than I expected. The coffee had a strong acidity. Starting with the wiener in the hot dog roll, I noticed there was also spaghetti underneath. It's quite elaborate. Next, the rolled omelette. It had ham and was topped with meat sauce. Oh, this is unexpectedly delicious. This place is known for its tasty dishes. I was in a hurry that day, so I left quickly, but I'll definitely come back for a hearty meal next time.

This is a review of the café "Family Snack Rocky" located in Taito 4-chome, Taito-ku, Tokyo. The nearest station is Shingo Okachimachi Station on the Toei Oedo Line and Tsukuba Express Line. I visited "Family Snack Rocky" during dinner time. The retro Showa era exterior and interior caught my attention, so I decided to go inside. The entrance door of "Family Snack Rocky" was open. Inside, there were a few groups of customers already seated. I chose a 4-person table near the entrance and ordered the Rolled Dog Set, with hot lemon tea as the drink. The Rolled Dog Set included one roll bread with egg and meat sauce, and one roll bread with wiener and Napolitan spaghetti (similar to a hot dog with spaghetti inside). Personally, I preferred the roll bread with wiener and Napolitan spaghetti over the one with egg and meat sauce. "Family Snack Rocky" had Napolitan spaghetti on the menu, and based on the taste of the Napolitan in the hot dog, I assumed it would be delicious. The nostalgic atmosphere of the Showa era in the restaurant was quite nice. It seemed to be a local favorite spot with many regular customers. I would like to visit "Family Snack Rocky" again if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

In between my plans, I stopped by for a quick break. It seemed like a popular spot for locals and their cats to relax. I ordered the original hot coffee for 370 yen. It had a full city roast with a strong bitterness, richness, and a hint of acidity. The café had a TV playing horse racing, and aside from the noise from the owner and regular customers cheering, it was a nice café. Well, the name is Family Snack after all, so maybe a bit of noise is part of its charm. Thank you for the meal! (^^)

The classic Napoli-tan is still a popular choice for lunch, but it's been difficult to find a place to eat. Lahore was closed unexpectedly, so I went to Satake Shoten, a long-established cafe that has recently become smoke-free. If you're looking for a light meal after 3pm, I recommend the old-fashioned Napoli-tan with a mini salad for ¥640. The portion is small, but it's packed with onions, green peppers, and sausage, all cooked in a special Napoli sauce. It's delicious. Next time, I'll order the large portion.

On January 22, 2021, in the well-established Satake shopping street in Okachimachi, there is a unique place called "Rocky" with the catchphrase "Family Snack". It seems to have more of a family restaurant vibe rather than a traditional snack bar. The interior is long and spacious, with more seats than expected. Many regular customers can be seen interacting and chatting with each other. I ordered the Neapolitan spaghetti (640 yen), which was featured in Tokyo Walker. They also had a lunchtime special where ordering a single dish entree would make coffee only 260 yen, so I ordered a hot coffee as well. Lunch is until 1 pm, so be mindful of the time. The Neapolitan that arrived was a rich, hearty type that you would expect from a cafe, and it was delicious. The portion size was decent, but you could opt for a larger serving. Powdered cheese and Tabasco were provided as table condiments, which was a nice touch. The hot coffee served after the meal had a slightly strong acidity but was tasty. The turnover of customers was quick, making me feel like I had to leave soon, but the open and relaxed atmosphere allowed me to unwind. I hope this cafe continues to thrive for a long time. One day, let's have a family snack for weekend lunch - "Family Snack Rocky" is a café located in Satake Shopping Street, the second oldest shopping street in Japan. The café offers a variety of Western dishes, rice bowls, sandwiches, drinks, and desserts. The Napoli spaghetti was delicious with a rich tomato sauce, while the omurice had a beautiful egg color and a moist ketchup sauce. The banana juice had a subtle banana flavor, and the coffee had a slight acidity. The café has a homely atmosphere with the master cooking in the kitchen and local customers enjoying their meals. It's a family-friendly place where everyone can enjoy a meal or dessert.

Napolitan Spaghetti 640 yen
Today, I had lunch at Satake Shotengai, the second oldest shopping street in Japan. I've been wanting to try Napolitan for a while now, so at 11:44, two of us entered the restaurant. There were 8 customers in front of us and 6 customers behind us, so it seems to be a popular local spot. We were seated and I quickly looked at the menu, but I already knew what I wanted to order. I had no doubts, so I asked for the Napolitan that was also featured in Tokyo Walker. Shortly after, a small salad was served. While eating, the main dish arrived in about 10 minutes. At first glance, the portion seemed a bit small. The dish consisted of mushrooms, bacon, green peppers, onions, and sausages. The thick and soft noodles had a strong ketchup flavor, reminiscent of traditional seasoning. During the meal, a staff member greeted us with "welcome back" - I didn't quite understand the meaning, but then a surprise guest appeared from the back of the restaurant - their adorable mascot cat. As a cat lover, this was a delightful surprise and it made me feel warm inside. However, having animals in a dining establishment might not be everyone's preference, but personally, I was happy about it. It was a delicious meal.

I entered Rocky Lunch and was intrigued by the menu item called Meat Pilaf, but I couldn't figure out which bento box option the people on either side of me had. So, I just made eye contact and ordered the same thing. For ¥820, I got Pork with Grated Ponzu Sauce, Potato Fries, Macaroni Salad, Mini Salad, Mitsuba, Miso Soup with Wakame and Tofu, and a drink. Surprisingly, it might be a cost-effective lunch option. The atmosphere was quiet, with customers either reading newspapers or manga. It felt like a serene vibe similar to a Le Pain Quotidien. 2020/07/06

I missed the lunch timing at Satake Shotengai, so I searched nearby and found a restaurant called Family Snack Rocky! It's just a few minutes' walk from our office, and the nostalgic atmosphere of the restaurant under the arcade in Satake Shotengai was surprising. The interior is long and spacious, allowing for social distancing. I ordered the Pork Ginger set meal for ¥840, which came with a generous serving of cabbage, cucumber, and ham on the side. The Pork Ginger was easy to eat due to its size. The miso soup had tofu and soft wakame seaweed, giving it a homely yet delicious taste. I think I'll try the old-fashioned Napolitan dish next time.

Today's lunch was my first visit to this cafe, which became non-smoking due to the revision of the passive smoking law in April. It's great that a long-established coffee shop has become non-smoking, increasing the number of places I can go to. The omurice costs 710 yen and is served with the traditional ketchup. The hot chicken rice is delicious. It's just as the reviews say. I'm also happy that miso soup is included. The slightly narrow width of the spoon is a charming touch (laughs).

I finally visited Rocky, a place I had always wanted to try. I ordered the Napolitan with salad set (640 yen) since there weren't many options that came with coffee. The atmosphere was relaxed, with a cat roaming around. After waiting for about 15 minutes, my salad and Napolitan arrived. The salad consisted of potato salad, shredded cabbage, tomatoes, and French dressing. The Napolitan was made with thick noodles and a slightly sweet ketchup sauce, which gave it a rich flavor. Sprinkling plenty of powdered cheese on top made it even more delicious.
