There are two Sanuki udon restaurants near the main gate, and I visited this one which I had not been to before. I'm not sure about the origin of this shop, but it seems to have five branches in Tokyo. This shop appears to be the first branch. I visited around 12 pm on a holiday, so I was prepared for a line, but sure enough, there was a queue. I braced myself and lined up, but the line moved quickly. I entered the shop without much wait. They have a pre-payment system where you order and pay at the ticket machine. It's a bit tricky that you can't use 500 yen coins. I ordered the usual cold udon for 390 yen plus a medium size for an extra 50 yen and chikuwa tempura for 140 yen. In Tokyo, 390 yen for udon is quite cost-effective and it's a great deal for Sanuki udon prices. Moreover, this shop is not self-service but a regular restaurant. It must be popular. The udon arrived as soon as I sat down. This must be due to their fast turnover. It's nice not to have to wait. The udon had a good chewy texture and was delicious, just like udon from Kagawa Prefecture. It has more chewiness than the nearby "Moriya" shop. It's a quality udon that makes you want to eat it at least once a week. From the name of the shop, it seems that meat udon is recommended here. In addition to "cold udon," I plan to try meat bukkake or curry udon next time to contribute to the shop's sales.

I went to Hamamatsucho for work and wanted to eat udon, so I looked for a place. Even though it was past 1 pm on a weekday, there was a line outside. There were about 6 people in line. I bought a meal ticket and waited. I was a bit indecisive but ended up adding 50 yen to upgrade to a medium size for the cold special udon. I was seated in less than 15 minutes. The noodles were thick and had a nice chew to them. They recommended sprinkling black pepper, which indeed complemented the meat and soup. The tempura was juicy and tasted like fried chicken. The restaurant had a trendy vibe, with The Beatles playing in the background. During my visit, all the staff were female and about 30-40% of the customers were also women. It's a place where women can feel comfortable dining alone. However, I couldn't help but notice that the female staff were on the heavier side compared to the male staff. Looking at what I ordered, I realized why. I wouldn't recommend this place to those on a diet. Overall, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

They have a system where you purchase a food ticket in front of the shop before lining up, even before they open. I chose the special cold option. I was seated at the counter and waited a bit. The special cold udon had a generous topping of tempura-like chicken, pork belly, ginger, and green onions. The tempura had a nice soy sauce flavor and went well with the udon. The pork belly was sweet and delicious. The broth, with a strong bonito flavor, was tasty even when cold. The udon had a good chew but was still easy to slurp. I can see why this place is popular. It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

On September 2023, a public holiday, I arrived around 11:20 AM to find the restaurant full, with about 5 groups waiting outside. However, the turnover was fast, so I was seated quickly. I ordered the cold noodles with broth for 450 yen, with an extra serving for 50 yen. The broth was slightly sweet, and adding chili pepper and black pepper to adjust the flavor was satisfying. The noodles had a good firmness and were delicious. I also had 3 pieces of chicken tempura for 200 yen, which were well-marinated and tasty.

I visited at 12:00 on Saturday and there were 5 people in line. After purchasing tickets from the machine and waiting in line, a staff member came to collect the tickets and we were seated in about 6 minutes. Our food arrived within 3 minutes of being seated. I had the hot udon for ¥390 and my husband had the hot meat udon for ¥700. We also shared 3 pieces of chicken tempura for ¥200. The noodles had a nice texture and were well matched with the rich bonito broth. The udon came with plenty of green onions and you could customize it with toppings like tempura flakes and condiments on the table. It was interesting to find black pepper, which paired well with the meat. The meat udon had generous slices of pork and ginger on top, and the flavor of the pork was excellent. The chicken tempura was well seasoned and tasted great on its own or in the udon. It was amazing to find such high-quality Sanuki udon at such an affordable price. Thank you for the delicious meal.

First visit. Sanuki udon! The udon itself was delicious, even better than Oniyama. There's usually a long line during lunchtime, but we visited after 2 pm and only had to wait behind two people. I ordered the grated yam soy sauce cold udon for 540 yen, and it had a nice chewy texture. Even without tempura, I felt satisfied. The tempura is also recommended, so I want to try the egg tempura and fish cake next time!

I feel the presence of a distinct flavor in the Sanuki udon. The noodles are delicious. Although it feels like a waste to add soy sauce to the udon yourself, I shifted to the recommended flavor change and enjoyed the limited-time red snapper tempura, which had a fragrant and elegant taste... This is delicious. The atmosphere is not sophisticated, but rather a place where office workers can enjoy a casual dining experience in a lively setting.

I saw a TV show about an udon restaurant in the morning... and my mind was filled with thoughts of udon. I couldn't resist, so I came to one of the shops I wanted to visit but hadn't been able to. I ordered the Special, and my partner got the Bukkake RED, I think. The Special is truly special. The tempura is so delicious! It's so juicy and tender. It's not just a side dish. It might be a must-try when you come to this shop. The udon broth is gentle and tasty. This, this is udon! It's slurpy! Yummy!! The tempura flakes are plentiful, and it's good with black pepper or lemon juice. I changed the flavor as I ate. There were not many women in the shop. All the men were so sturdy that it made me laugh! I managed to finish my meal without losing to them.笑笑

Today's lunch was at Jinsan, a Sanuki udon restaurant in Daimon (Hamamatsucho). I arrived around 12:10 and there was already a line forming in front of the restaurant! There were separate lines for dining in and takeout, so I first bought a meal ticket and lined up for dining in. Since it's udon, the turnover is fast, and I was able to enter the restaurant in about 5 minutes. I ordered the Special Cold Udon (with chicken tempura and pork) for 740 yen. It's been over 5 years since my last visit, so I was excited to have udon again. The udon noodles had a good texture as always! The broth had a gentle flavor as usual, but... I somehow felt a fishy smell in it... I wonder why. Did the broth change, or was it because of the seasonal limited edition red snapper fish cake tempura? However, the chicken tempura was very satisfying and filling, so I left the restaurant feeling content ☺︎ I remember they used to have burdock tempura and other options, but I'm not sure if the restaurant changed or just the menu. It's a mystery. Thank you for the meal! ☺︎

I ordered a medium-sized portion of tempura and bukkake udon. The udon was brought to me in a shop where it was not self-serve, yet the pricing was quite reasonable. Looking around, it seemed like more people were ordering meat udon, but the freshly fried tempura was juicy and delicious, and I was satisfied.

I visited the restaurant before noon and there was already a line. There were two separate lines, one for purchasing tickets and another for waiting to enter after purchasing. I planned to keep it simple with cold udon and a topping of 3 tempura varieties, but since the restaurant's name had "meat" in it, I decided to switch to the Special with pork and chicken tempura for 740 yen. I waited about 10 minutes before entering. The dish was served promptly. The broth seemed to be made from bonito, but it was a bit lacking in quantity and flavor, not very distinct and left me unsatisfied. I added soy sauce and pepper later on. The meat was just plain boiled pork belly with no flavor, why bother putting it in the restaurant's name? The chicken tempura was decently tasty. The udon was very average in terms of texture and aroma. I didn't think it was worth going out of my way to eat there.

At the main gate, I transferred from the Oedo Line to the monorail and searched for a udon restaurant near the ranch. There were two famous shops to choose from!! Unfortunately, the first shop that came up was temporarily closed, so I visited this one instead. The restaurant was about 80% full, but I was seated quickly because the turnover was fast. I ordered the cold meat udon with 1.5 servings. Mmm. Mmm. The taste is reassuring. At first, I ate it as it was, but then I tried adding plenty of black pepper and tempura flakes as it was written to do so. Mmm. It's delicious in its own way, but personally, I prefer the gentle taste as it is. Once you add black pepper, you can't go back to the original taste, of course, haha. Since this restaurant is easy to visit, next time I go, I'll try to resist adding anything extra until the last bite.

Today I used the Tokyo Metropolitan Subway's summer one-day pass to visit a famous udon restaurant called Jinsan in Daimon (Hamamatsucho). When I arrived around noon, surprisingly there was no line, so I quickly purchased my meal ticket from the machine and found a seat. I ordered the special meat udon (3 servings) and it arrived within a minute. The noodles were firm and the broth was a bit light. The pork was also lightly flavored. It felt a bit lacking in flavor at first, but after adding a generous amount of black pepper, shichimi pepper, and tempura flakes from the table, it really packed a punch. If you prefer stronger flavors, this is definitely the way to go. It was a satisfying meal.

A shop where you can easily eat delicious udon. I visited at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and there were 3 customers waiting ahead of me, but I was able to get in within 5 minutes. The shop is a bit smaller than the Shinbashi branch and it was a bit hot because the door was open. I ordered bukkake udon with cold toppings, kitsune, onsen tamago, chikuwa, and tempura. The noodles were nicely chilled and the rich broth was delicious! Adding daidai vinegar and sesame halfway through changes the taste, so you can enjoy it until the end without getting tired of it. Thank you for the meal!

I had lunch at an udon shop that always has a long line at the entrance. Although they are known for their meat dishes, I was in the mood for curry today! I was even considering going to a curry shop instead. That's why I ordered the curry udon with plenty of meat toppings. It came with pork and chicken tempura. The curry udon was different from what I usually eat, with a rich and thick curry similar to curry rice covering the chewy and firm udon noodles. It felt more like dipping the udon in curry rather than having curry soup. It had a subtle sweetness and a strong spiciness that paired perfectly with the udon, making it delicious! The pork was not as good as I expected, but the crispy and juicy chicken tempura was amazing.

Cold udon noodles, pork rice bowl. Cold udon noodles. A simple dish consisting of cold udon noodles served with cold broth, topped with green onions and ginger. The udon noodles, boasting the Sanuki region, have a firm texture with a satisfying chewiness, best enjoyed by slurping them without much chewing. The wheat flavor and sweetness are somewhat subtle. The boiled pork in the pork rice bowl is almost unseasoned, allowing the rich flavor of the pork to shine through, although it might benefit from a dash of soy sauce. Following the instructions on the wall for the "delicious way to eat meat and hot udon noodles," I added plenty of red pepper, black pepper, and tempura flakes, then poured in the remaining broth with dried bonito flakes, creating a punchy yet refreshing cold tea-soaked rice dish! The harmony between the umami of the dried bonito flakes and the aroma and sweetness of the rice is exquisite. The broth comes in three varieties: kake, where the udon noodles are fully immersed in a clear broth with a strong dried bonito flavor; bukkake, where a small amount of concentrated broth is mixed with the udon noodles; and shoyu, where the udon noodles are enjoyed with just the flavor of a rich soy sauce-infused broth. The restaurant opened at 11:00, and upon arrival, there were about five people waiting in line in front of the ticket machine. I entered the restaurant within 3 minutes, was shown to my seat, and promptly served water and udon noodles. The place was constantly busy with customers coming in, but at this time, some people were eating and leaving, so there was no waiting time yet.

Every morning, homemade Sanuki udon noodles and meat udon made with domestic pork are recommended at this udon restaurant. It is said that the shop was started by someone who trained at the famous Maruka in Tokyo. When asked for a recommendation at an udon shop by a reviewer named Yukkyoshi, they were told that if you like Maruka, you must visit this place. So, I walked through the scorching heat and finally arrived. I visited during lunchtime, so there was a line of about 15 people. It took about 20 minutes from arriving at the shop to the udon being served. I ordered the perfect snack for a hot day, the cold udon for 390 yen. It's just a little more expensive than Oniyanma, but still within 400 yen, which is wonderful. The udon that came out was not served in a large bowl, but a normal portion, so even women could probably finish it. First, I took a sip of the broth. Oh, it's so delicious...! The aroma of bonito spreads out, and the clear color of the broth is a beautiful taste that seems to reach the tongue. I was torn between getting it with sauce or cold, but I'm glad I chose cold because the taste was so impressive. And the udon itself. It has a strong yet smooth texture that passes through the lips smoothly. Maruka's udon is truly without any sharp edges, more like slightly square? The thickness varies in parts, which I like. There are toppings of green onions and ginger, but the deliciousness is such that you want to keep eating without adding anything. Bliss. With this price and quality at a sit-down restaurant, it's understandable why it's so popular. They have several branches, so I left feeling satisfied and wanting to try other dishes like at Oniyanma.

Visited the restaurant on Monday at 11 am, aiming for the opening. There were about 5 customers already there. With 24 seats, the turnover is fast so I didn't have to wait too long to eat. The interior is decorated with Beatles records and they play Beatles music, which matches my taste. I ordered the Niku-kake Hiyashi for 700 yen with a medium portion for an extra 50 yen, extra green onions for 90 yen, and a warm egg for 90 yen. The dish is generously covered with iriko (dried baby sardines) broth. It's amazing how they serve the dish with just the flavor of the broth without any salt or soy sauce. The rich flavor of the iriko is outstanding. The pork doesn't interfere with the broth's flavor, and I especially enjoy eating it with the green onions for a refreshing taste. If I didn't have to worry about carbs, I would eat this more often.

Jinsan in Daimon serves a hearty meat udon with amazing volume! Despite being open for about an hour, the turnover rate is good so you can get in quickly! The flavor packs a punch and the noodles are smooth and easy to slurp up. The chicken tempura is juicy and delicious, like fried chicken! I want to go back again!

I came to Hamamatsucho to watch a certain event. Since it was Sunday, other interesting shops were closed, so I decided to visit this place. It was convenient to order with a food ticket since I was alone. The staff was friendly and guided me through the menu. I ordered the famous Special in large size. It was a huge portion, and although I managed to finish it, a regular size might have been enough. The udon had a nice chewy texture, and the soup was light. The seasoning of the pork and chicken tempura seemed well balanced. The light and rich flavors harmonized well, and toppings like fried tempura bits kept it interesting until the end. The cost performance was excellent as it was all under 1000 yen. Some people also ordered delivery or takeout via Uber Eats. The service was very fast. I would definitely like to visit this place again.

The tai-chikuwa with melted cheese inside was a delicious surprise! The udon noodles had a nice texture and I loved that they provided tenkasu and shichimi on the table. I went right after they opened and it was already busy with customers. The turnover was quick so there was no long line.
