On a Sunday morning around 10 o'clock, when I arrived at Tsukiji Outer Market, it was already crowded with people! Among the crowd, there was a long line at Mejicafe. Mejicafe is a small roastery cafe stand with a storefront width of about 1 meter and the size of two tatami mats. They offer specialty coffee carefully selected for the season, roasted in-house and served with hand drip. As a fan of cheesecakes, I had initially checked out Mejicafe. However, when I visited in April 2023, they were too busy with roasting and not making cheesecakes (tears). Nevertheless, I decided to wait in line and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee. I ordered the Sakura Bourbon (S) (480 yen), which is a coffee bean named after the cherry blossom season, with cherry blossoms soaked in salt and then added to the coffee. They even made the lid of the paper cup transparent so you could see the cherry blossom floating inside. It was a thoughtful touch and the coffee was delicious as always. Thank you for the meal.

My stomach was full, so I decided to have coffee at a coffee shop next to the fish market alley... Hmm, they have a variety of beans to choose from... Yunnan? Yunnan? Is that right? I must try it. It has a unique aroma and a rich taste. It feels like my taste buds are being influenced by my preconceived image of China. It's different from regular coffee in flavor. They say it can be blended with regular coffee to make it even better, so I decided to buy it, even though it's a bit pricey. I want to brew it slowly when I have time to enjoy my morning.

I found the location of Mejicafe in Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo! This time, I ordered coffee and (I wonder what it was...?) Japanese tea and black tea. The aroma is very good and delicious! I also noticed they have chocolate and cafe au lait, so I might try something sweet next time.

Mini Cake Basque Cheesecake ¥230
A mini-sized Basque cheesecake for eating on the go. You can choose between whole wheat or limited-time matcha cookie on top. The cheesecake is gluten-free, and the cookie is gluten. The cheesecake is extremely rich with a strong cheese and milk flavor, slightly sweet and very soft. The matcha provides a nice bitter taste, making it a good accent before coffee.

As I was walking in Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, I suddenly caught a whiff of coffee...(≧з≦) It was hot and I was feeling thirsty, so I decided to have an iced coffee. There were various types of coffee beans from different regions like light roast, medium roast, and dark roast, making it hard to choose! This time, I went with a Chinese coffee that I've never tried before, and it turned out to be delicious!

At Tsukiji, a place where you wouldn't easily find during busy times, there is a coffee shop tucked away among the rows of tuna and seafood. The name and illustrations are cute, so I couldn't resist trying it out. They have a wide variety of coffee options, which is a big plus for coffee lovers. ☕️

A follower recommended a shop where you can buy tuna even on Sundays in Tsukiji. They said you can buy tuna and also enjoy delicious coffee there. I was curious about how a tuna shop and a coffee shop could be combined, so I decided to check it out. It turned out that they are actually sold together at the storefront (laughs). It's an unusual collaboration! I bought some tuna and decided to try the coffee as well. I had Ethiopian coffee and my sweet-toothed husband had an affogato & mocha parfait (laughs). The mocha parfait comes with a cookie of a tuna character called Medji-kun, ice cream, and cheesecake (you can change it to gateau chocolat if you prefer). Surprisingly, it was delicious (laughs). Even as a coffee beginner, I asked for recommendations and they explained each option carefully. They drip each cup of coffee individually, providing a cup of coffee with dedication. I don't have many chances to go to Tsukiji, but if I do, I will definitely make a stop there.

In the outer market of Tsukiji, there is a small stand café that has a variety of beans and desserts. I ordered an Ice Float S (550 yen) which came with a cute fish-shaped biscuit on top. The coffee had a strong flavor with a deep bitterness and richness. I chatted with the friendly staff while enjoying my coffee. The café has been open for four years now. After exploring Tsukiji, I realized that this town is truly charming, even though the market has moved to Toyosu.

First visit in September 2020 (No.2047) I started picking up ingredients in the Tsukiji area, so I visited here before lunch. The Tsukiji outer market seems to have a slightly increased number of people, but it is far from the bustling atmosphere of before. There is a shop in a market-like place next door selling cod roe and tuna. I ordered an iced coffee (Whiskey Barrel Aged Cowdatt) for 650 yen, which is made with rare beans that have been aged in a distilled spirit barrel to transfer the aroma. It is indeed an interesting iced coffee with the flavor of whiskey. Thank you for the meal.

It was a morning that felt like midsummer, but I headed to Tsukiji for my daily walk. Today, I walked on the inner street seeking shade and surprisingly found a lovely café between a tuna shop and a cod roe showcase (lol). I enjoyed their original blend coffee, which the staff takes 8 hours to extract, in an iced version. It had a nice aroma, was refreshing, and very delicious. I will definitely visit again.

This is a new hidden gem in Tsukiji. The entrance is narrow, so when you find it tucked between fish shops, it feels like a little victory. They have a wide variety of beans and even coffee beans aged in rare whiskey barrels! It's a must-try for coffee enthusiasts! It's takeout only, but they grind the beans fresh after you order, so you're guaranteed a delicious cup. Plus, the barista is a masked beauty. ;) You can also buy beans to take home. Ready to go find it?

I went to Mejicafe in Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. I came to Tsukiji early in the morning. My purpose is to try Uni-don (sea urchin rice bowl) and do some food hopping. Also, I want to increase the number of reviews on Tabelog by trying out different foods. After trying various foods, I took a little cafe break. While exploring Tsukiji, I noticed several coffee specialty shops and decided to stop by one with a nice atmosphere. The deciding factor was that they brew each cup right in front of you. I was a bit confused by the menu, so I chose the "El Salvador La Gobiado" for 550 yen. They grind the beans and brew the coffee right in front of you after you place your order. When they pour hot water, it steams up nicely. I grind my own beans at home, but achieving this level of steaming is rare. I asked about it while they were brewing the coffee. The conclusion was that the freshness of the beans is the key. Freshly roasted beans release carbon dioxide, which helps with the steaming process. The coffee, which was freshly roasted, ground, and brewed, made me feel indulgent and the taste was delicious. The cold brew coffee that my partner ordered was also very tasty.

Delicious coffee brewed by oneself, so it takes a little time to wait, but much better than entering a bad cafe.

I selected the spring limited blend. The coffee contains salted cherry blossoms, giving a faint cherry blossom scent and allowing us to anticipate spring. It was a coffee suitable for a walk on a sunny day.
