The set meal at "Ume to Hoshi" right next to Asakusa's Nakamise Street was amazing. The set meals come with freshly cooked rice from a feather pot (free refills), a choice of 3 types of umeboshi (sour, sweet, or kimchi), a hearty pork miso soup, and fluffy scrambled eggs. In addition to these, there are many other side dishes to choose from to accompany your rice. I recommend the "Otomo Mikujiten Set Meal" for 1,320 yen. You draw a Seven Lucky Gods fortune, which determines the 3 additional side dishes you receive. I drew Ebisu, which came with pickled radish, flaked salmon, and two-color natto. The set meal was served in about 5 minutes, and just looking at it made me happy. The Japanese set meal was truly delicious! The slightly sour umeboshi paired perfectly with the rice, which was cooked in a feather pot and had a great texture. I had two helpings of rice. There were mostly female customers, and it seemed like everyone had at least one refill. Each side dish was fantastic. The scrambled eggs were seasoned with white dashi, complementing the rice well. They also sold side dishes at the entrance. I will definitely visit this place again! Thank you for the delicious meal.

Delicious♪ Fun♪ Happy♪ The "Otomomikuji Teishoku" for breakfast costs 1,320 yen, where the side dish for today's meal is determined by drawing one of the Seven Lucky Gods. It's exciting to see which god you'll get! If you end up with something you don't like, you can redraw, so it's reassuring. Some gods may fulfill special requests, so why not give it a try? The "Jurojin" is a classic choice, with options like salted kelp, spicy cod roe, minced meat, and natto to accompany the delicious rice. The rice is a special blend cooked in a traditional feather pot, and it's incredibly tasty! You can have seconds too. I chose the mild pickled plum from the three options. The "Fuwa Fuwa Tamago" is an egg dish made with roasted sake, offering a smooth and rich flavor with the aroma of eggs and dashi from the Edo period. Today's soup is miso soup, which alone can be a main dish. The sides are carefully selected to complement the rice, and I think they're all delicious. I want to try them all! Be careful not to overeat! Thank you for the delicious meal.

The restaurant opened at 9 am and I arrived a little after 10 am. There were already two groups of 7 people waiting in front of me, so I had to wait for about 40 minutes. The restaurant only had about 15 seats, so I guess that's why the wait was long. As I looked around the restaurant, I noticed that everyone was eating slowly but continuously. Both men and women were enjoying their meals. When I started eating, I understood why. The rice was so shiny and delicious! The rice and side dishes were doing a great job, making everyone want to have seconds. I chose the "fortune-telling lunch set" and got a Daruma doll as my fortune. I wanted Fukurokuju, so I asked to change it and got the Fukurokuju set with salted fish, minced chicken, and simmered thin deep-fried tofu. In the end, I ended up eating three bowls of rice. It was delicious! By the way, the pot in front is not just a decoration, it's actually used for cooking rice. It was a great meal for less than 1400 yen. I would love to go back again. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Be careful even if the number of people is not large, as it can surprisingly take time even if you go around 10 a.m. on a holiday and enter around 11 a.m. I had been to the umeboshi specialty store at Tokyo Skytree a few times before and had come to know about this place. So, the umeboshi here are excellent, including grilled umeboshi, mentaiko-flavored ones, and kombu umeboshi, with a variety of options. It is recommended to find your favorite and purchase some to take home. You can have unlimited rice refills, so you can eat a lot without worrying about the balance with the side dishes. There are also many special rice accompaniments that I want to try, so I hope to visit again on a weekday when there is not much of a line.

I will acknowledge this Madara!!! Asakusa is truly the center of Tokyo!!! I'm thinking of moving here!!! It's located on a small street in Nakamise-dori!!! There are many popular lined-up shops in Asakusa, but it's still better here!!! Go before it gets too crowded!!! There could be a long line all the way to Mount Takao!!! They have a set of three accompaniments with a lottery system!!! You eat while receiving eye beams from the gods!!! By the way, you can change if the gods don't like it! What is that!!! The pork soup is mild and delicious!!! I forgot the pickled plum, but of course it's tasty! It also comes with the default fluffy egg!!! Please give me as much rice as you have in stock!!!

It is a small restaurant with about 14 counter seats. I went with a friend around 1 pm and there were about 4 people lined up in front of us. We waited for about 30 minutes and finally got seated. We ordered the "Otomo Mikujiteishoku" set, where you draw a lottery to get a special dish chosen by the gods. If you don't like what you drew, you can redraw. I got the Bishamonten set, which included white cabbage sesame kimchi, shirasu, and simmered beef. In addition to that, it came with fluffy egg, rice, and a choice of umeboshi (pickled plum). I chose the kimchi umeboshi. It also came with miso soup. Everything, from the dishes to the umeboshi and egg, was delicious. The rice was so good that I wanted to have endless refills. The staff were polite and attentive, always ready to assist if needed. You can also purchase the umeboshi if you like it. I recommend going in a small group.

I visited this restaurant while strolling around Asakusa Temple with a friend. It is located on a small street just off the main approach to the temple. They sell various types of umeboshi at the front of the store, and the back of the store is a dining area. The umeboshi was delicious and had a healthy feel to it.

Visited Asakusa in the morning for breakfast on Sunday morning. Arrived at the opening time so no waiting in line, but by the time we left, there were 5-6 groups waiting. Recommend going right at opening time. Ordered the "otomomikuji set meal" since it was the New Year. The location and concept seemed unique, but the rice was really delicious. The miso soup was not too strong, but had a gentle sweetness from the vegetables. The fluffy scrambled eggs were a specialty and indeed very fluffy with perfect seasoning, suitable for all ages. There were 3 types of pickled plums to choose from (sweet, kimchi-flavored, salty with shiso), and it had been a while since I had such delicious pickled plums, which went well with the rice. Unlimited rice refills and customizable toppings make this place highly recommended. A very satisfying way to spend a Sunday morning.

I drew the "Fukurokuju" fortune at the Otomomikuji set meal for ¥1320. It came with Minamiseki fried chicken with sansho pepper, chicken soboro, and squid shiokara. You can choose one from three types of pickled plums as a side dish, and it also includes a steamed egg, clay pot rice, and miso soup. You can have unlimited rice refills. With such delicious sides, you'll want to eat a lot of rice. I had three extra helpings. Thank you for the meal.

I had breakfast there. Although the Otomokuji set meal looked very appealing, that day they had just received fresh saury fish and highly recommended it, so I tried the grilled fish set meal. Oh man, it was a great choice. It was really delicious. The pickled plum, rice, and fluffy scrambled eggs were all tasty, but the saury fish stole the show with its amazing flavor. Next time, I'll definitely try the breakfast set meal!

Located about a 4-minute walk from Asakusa Station, this restaurant specializing in umeboshi (pickled plums) and hoshiumeboshi (dried pickled plums) is a must-visit for umeboshi lovers! When in Asakusa, you really should check out this place that serves kamado kama-meshi (rice cooked in a traditional stove). The contents of the set meal change depending on the god that comes out when you open the wooden rice chest. I got the Hotei-sama set, which came with beef shigure (stir-fry), kimchi, and shirasu (small fish) pork miso soup. You can choose from 3 types of umeboshi too! This place is apparently a sister store of the umeboshi specialty shop near the Skytree. The warm and comforting flavors were simply irresistible! And the best part is, you can have unlimited rice refills!

We arrived right at the opening so there was no line! But it got quite crowded after about 30 minutes. My friend and I chose the "otomomikuji teishoku" set. My friend had the "Benzaiten" set with white butter tarako nametake and tamari cooked rice, while I had the daikon tamari pickled salmon and rough-harvested two-color natto. Each set came with miso soup, umeboshi, fluffy egg, and rice. There were three types of umeboshi to choose from - honey, kimchi, and shiso. I chose kimchi, while my friend chose shiso. The miso soup was very generous with ingredients and there was almost too much for the set. But the best part was the umeboshi, it was the most delicious. Honestly, the morning set with the fluffy egg from the opening until 11 o'clock, if there's something you're curious about, it might be the best. We also ordered beer, so it was a bit tough when the staff kept insisting that we shouldn't leave so much food without rice, even though we were just using it as a snack.

Today's walking took me towards Asakusa. I decided to take a lunch break at "Ume to Hoshi" that I saw on Mommy's Facebook. It's quite crowded even though it's late for lunch. There's a line from the first floor to the second floor. I join behind couples and groups. While waiting, I'll play "Uma Musume" on mute as a solo waiting companion. I accidentally forgot to mute it and it made a sound, but it's okay, as the couples are too engrossed in each other. After about 40 minutes of waiting, I finally got seated. I started with a bottle of beer, Sapporo's Red Star. I ordered the Otomomikuji set. The result was Ebisu-sama. It came with daikon pickles, flaked salmon, and two-color natto. I turned my beer glass after about 16 minutes. The appetizers were quite delicious. The daikon pickles were exceptionally tasty. The salmon was also flavorful. I enjoyed the umeboshi on rice with my beer. The fluffy omelet was also delicious. I had already eaten three eggs for breakfast, but good food is good food. I kept the vegetables from the miso soup for later. I wanted to drink a bit more. I extended the meal with an umeboshi sour. While everyone else got rice refills, for me it was alcohol refills. Lastly, it was rice time. I had half of the natto and miso soup, and finished with butter rice seasoned with sweet soy sauce and nori. It was a satisfying lunch. Now, it's time to return to walking. Thank you for the meal. "Ume to Hoshi" 2-2-4 Asakusa, Taito-ku, Tokyo [Tue-Wed-Thu-Fri] 9:00-17:00 (Last order 15:00) [Sat-Sun] 9:00-17:00 (Last order 16:30) Closed on Mondays.

In the bustling district of Asakusa, just off the Nakamise Street, there is a mysteriously quiet shop that offers a variety of rice accompaniments centered around pickled plums. It may seem unusual, but this new shop exudes a uniquely Japanese charm that makes it the perfect place to experience a taste of Japan.

Open on June 3rd! Yesterday, I recommended a restaurant to a friend who loves white rice, and it has quickly become my recent favorite spot - Ume to Hoshi in Asakusa. The popular "standing plum shop" that gained fame at events has finally opened a sit-down restaurant. I was so excited for this! The Otomomikujiteishoku for 1,320 yen is a fun set meal where you get three rice toppings like drawing a fortune. On this day, I got white butter, tarako, and nameko mushroom. The rice was amazing - shiny, plump, and with a great texture. I customized my toppings and enjoyed every bite. The tarako with Calpis butter and soy sauce was a winning combination. The miso soup was also delicious. The staff was lovely and made me feel comfortable asking for seconds. I ate three helpings and regret not having a fourth. Everything was so delicious! This meal made me appreciate being Japanese and felt like the perfect last supper. The restaurant is stylish and located in a busy area of Asakusa, so I'm sure it will become very popular. I can't wait to go back! ❤️‍

On a rainy Tuesday around 2 pm, I stopped by Asakusa for some errands. The Nakamise street was quite busy with what seemed to be students, and it made me feel like the end of the pandemic is near. The restaurant was not crowded, so I quickly sat at the counter and ordered a beer along with the recommended "Otomomikuji set meal". They brought a bottle with a scoop inside and told me to draw a fortune. At first, I got Ebisu, but I thought, hmm, butter sounds good, so I asked the waitress if I could change it. She said I could try again once, so I drew again and got Fukurokuju. Oh well, I thought, and enjoyed my meal. The freshly cooked rice was delicious, and the miso soup had a refined taste. The side dishes and pickled plum were tasty, but eating rice with salt was quite tough. I realized that it's something you can only do when you're young. I ended up getting 2 and a half servings of rice to finish the side dishes. While eating, I overheard other customers receiving detailed explanations from the master? It seemed like they wanted people to enjoy the playful spirit of drawing fortunes, but you can also choose from the menu... In that case, I secretly wished I had chosen the Benzaiten with butter.

I have been to this restaurant for lunch several times. When you add a few small dishes, the rice is so delicious that I end up getting multiple refills. The staff are friendly, and I think it's a great place for a quick and late breakfast. I plan to keep going there, so I want to point out that sometimes the set meals are served on trays, and other times they are not, and there are days when there is a spoon with the egg and days when there isn't. I often go with my husband, and even though we order the same menu, the appearance can be different, which is confusing. It's a delicious restaurant, but I feel disappointed every time because I sense a lack of consistency among the staff. Despite this, the food is delicious.
