From juicy chicken skewers to tender chicken liver, each skewer was carefully grilled to perfection, delivering a delightful flavor with every bite. Not to mention, the highlight was the variety of delicious Japanese sake unique to Ueno. You can choose from a wide selection of local sake breweries and famous sake from all over Japan. I ordered the "mizore" sake, which naturally turns into a sherbet-like texture, and was captivated by its rich flavor and the clear sake poured into a chilled glass. I arrived before 17:00 without a reservation and there was a line. There were also 3 groups with reservations. Since there was a reservation for 19:30, they said it was okay to stay until 19:00. Two girls sat at the counter. We started with beer (Ebisu Amber), salad, sweet potato, assorted grilled chicken skewers, and appetizers. I forgot to take a picture when the grilled chicken skewers arrived because we were enjoying drinking.

Hello! I'm Hanedaman! This three-day weekend, I had plans to drink every day, and today, the final day, I went to Ueno with my friends! We did some shopping in Ameyoko, and then went to this restaurant! It's a stylish place with a calm atmosphere located underground, different from the hustle and bustle of Ueno, which was nice! First, I had a glass of Ebisu Amber! It was a very aromatic and full-bodied beer, with a refreshing finish that was perfect for the first drink! I had never tried it before, but it was so delicious that I would love to have it again next time I find it! We were served two types of appetizers, which were like traditional Japanese appetizers and of high quality! They paired well with any drink! Since it's a chicken restaurant, we ordered a platter of 5 rare chicken parts grilled with salt! We ordered them with salt, and you could tell they were fresh, and we enjoyed the texture and deliciousness of each part, it was amazing! Next, we ordered the Squid Somen Yukke! The squid was crunchy, and the egg yolk complemented the fat and umami flavors, it was a creative dish that was very delicious and went well with the alcohol! Then, we ordered the main dish, seared fatty tuna and mackerel! It was as the name suggests, with the fatty and deliciousness of the tuna and mackerel, without any fishy taste, it was like a fish steak! The accent of the mustard also complemented this dish very well, and I thought it was a very well-crafted dish! Finally, we ordered the Chicken Breast and Avocado Carpaccio! Similar to the Squid Somen Yukke, the combination of the ingredients complemented each other well, creating a delicious dish, which seems to be a feature of this restaurant's creative dishes! The refreshing chicken breast and rich avocado combination was very good! That day, I enjoyed various dishes with Ebisu Amber and regular draft beer, and I thought that despite being creative dishes, they were made deliciously while staying true to the basics, it was a very enjoyable meal! It was a calm place to drink and the food was delicious, with good value for money, so I would recommend it to those who want to drink in Ueno!

I visited Torimitsukuni Ueno store on this day. I ordered the Mitsukuni bowl for 1100 yen including tax. It had grilled chicken skewers such as negima, sasami, seseri, and tsukune on top of the rice. The size of the grilled chicken skewers was just right, and they were all deliciously grilled. The chicken soup was also full of flavor and delicious! Thank you for the meal.

I went to Torimitsukuni in Ueno! This chain restaurant has several locations in East Tokyo. I've been to the Kinshicho branch a few times and I know the delicious food and friendly staff, so I felt at ease. Located in Sakura Terrace underground, this place seems to be popular among salarymen. It was quite crowded, indicating its popularity. The dishes I ordered this time were: Rare parts assortment - I personally loved the Achilles tendon and Harami. They were all moist and had a good chewy texture, very delicious. Celery & Blue Cheese skewers - The blue cheese sauce was incredibly tasty. Innovative skewers - The wasabi flavor was refreshing and a great palate cleanser. Fruit tomatoes - Very sweet and perfect as a snack! Jako salad - Plenty of small fish and Kujyo negi, very healthy! Liver skewers - The rare texture was irresistible! Edamame - Small but flavorful, made with high-quality edamame. Grilled eggplant in dashi - Limited edition but a must-try, very refreshing! Avocado and chicken breast carpaccio - The black pepper added a nice touch. Chicken breast plum shiso tempura - The sourness of plum eliminates the oiliness, enhancing the appetite. Burdock tempura - Simple salt and pepper seasoning, bringing out the natural flavor. Iburi Gakko cheese - A classic that goes well with drinks. Assorted pickles - The Nara pickles were a standout for me. Sand liver fried chicken - Topped with plenty of grated daikon, not greasy at all! Oyakodon - Made with Hichin chicken, the fluffy egg and chunky chicken were a perfect match! Beef flakes and beef tongue bowl - The saltiness of beef flakes and the thinly sliced beef tongue fill your mouth! Cassata - The taste of dried fruits was rich, like something you'd find in a dessert shop. Tiramisu - Rich but melts in your mouth, making you feel happy! Gelato - I had strawberry and kiwi, both refreshing. Overall, everything was incredibly delicious! This is a place that makes you want to come back. I understand why it's so popular. However, the downside is that you need to make a reservation to get in. You have to decide in advance if you want to go here! Also, I'm a SoftBank user, and the signal was a bit weak, probably because it's underground. But other than that, everything was great, and when you're enjoying delicious food, you forget about the signal issue. That's how I felt after eating a lot. Thank you for the wonderful meal!!

Visited this place with a friend for drinks. It was a restaurant my friend had been curious about. They offer a wide variety of bird dishes, including yakitori. We started with the premium liver yakitori. It was perfectly grilled on the outside and incredibly creamy on the inside. Paired with a rich sake, it was amazing. Next, we tried the chicken neck skewer with celery and blue cheese. The chewy chicken neck paired with the refreshing celery and rich blue cheese sauce was addictive. The salted sesame oil marinated beef tongue sashimi was fresh and had a great texture. The seasonal corn tempura was packed with sweetness and crunch. Then we had the meatball with raw egg yolk and grated yam, which was a delightful combination. The homemade white liver pate with bread was too delicious to resist. The tomato-based chicken stew with four different cuts of chicken and vegetables was hearty and flavorful. The beef tongue and beef toro rice was a luxurious dish with a smoky flavor. The chicken broth mini ramen was rich and satisfying. The sake selection was impressive, with a Kyoto-exclusive wine yeast brewed sake being a favorite. Overall, the variety and quality of dishes, along with the relaxed atmosphere, made this restaurant a great choice for a leisurely meal in Ueno. The place was almost always full, which speaks to its popularity. I would definitely come back here when craving yakitori in Ueno.

After finishing work in Ueno at night, I chose a yakitori restaurant in a commercial facility near the station that caught my eye for dinner with friends. I arrived at the same time as the opening time, so I was able to enter smoothly! Looking at the menu board, I thought everything looked delicious, so I had a hard time choosing, but first I toasted with a refreshing sudachi beer! The appetizer was a sesame-dressed carrot and green bean dish, and maybe tofu? It was thinly sliced like noodles, with a unique cut and flavor that became addictive! Since it was a yakitori restaurant, we decided to start with skewers! We ordered: Hatsu-ochi x2 (200 each), Furisode x2 (230 each), Tokujou liver (250), and Special liver (230). Hatsu-ochi was recommended by my friend and it was really delicious, as expected since we have similar tastes in food. The liver was also great, with no unpleasant smell and very tasty! We also tried the Corn Tempura (490) and Beef Tongue Sashimi (790), which were both outstanding. The corn tempura had a perfect balance of salty batter and sweet corn, and the beef tongue sashimi was fresh and a perfect accompaniment to drinks. We couldn't resist ordering more skewers: Tsukune (250), Kujo Negi x2 (250 each), and Sasami Umejiso (200). Each skewer was delicious, so we added more to our order! Tsukune with egg yolk was a hit, and the Kujo Negi wrapped in meat was surprisingly good and became my new favorite! We also tried the Mogiri Mizunasu (490) and Yamaimo Fried Potato (590), which were both light and delicious choices. The Yamaimo Fried Potato was healthier than regular fries, making it a great option for those watching their diet but still wanting to enjoy fried food while dining out. For dessert, we had the homemade Tiramisu (590), which had a strong coffee flavor in the powder, but the base was a bit too sweet for my taste. Overall, it was a satisfying meal at a conveniently located, classy yet affordable restaurant. It's a great place for a girls' night out, casual date, or company gathering. In front of Ueno Station, this underground izakaya is always full of reservations. Maybe it's because they have a wide variety of menu items besides just yakitori? I ordered a beer first! Then I got the premium liver and a chef's selection of 5 skewers, along with Niigata edamame and cherry tomatoes. It's funny because even though I just ordered a few seconds ago, they keep bringing out different items saying "Here you go!" And even brought out things I didn't order multiple times. What's going on with their operation? (≧▽≦) When I finally said "I didn't order this!" the server's response was "Huh! Really?" It was a quirky izakaya with interesting experiences!

This time, I ended up accumulating a lot of photos from my recent expedition. I decided to start organizing them early, so I'm posting about the last restaurant I visited - Torimitsukuni, a yakitori and sake place. It's not often you can enjoy locally sourced chicken yakitori at such reasonable prices. They have a partnership with Tamano Hikari, so the sake selection is also solid. I've heard about this place from various people in the past, so I was really looking forward to finally going. Thanks to my friend who accompanied me and made this wish come true. We ordered a variety of yakitori (skin, bonjiri, chicken tail, seseri, negima), premium liver, thigh with scallion, chicken belly, and yam potato fries, among other things. I forgot to take some photos, so I'll leave those out. Everything was delicious, but the standout dishes were the thigh with scallion and the liver. The thigh was incredibly tender and flavorful, using the best part of the chicken. The liver had a rare texture with no unpleasant smell, making it exceptionally tasty. Even with eating and drinking heartily, we only spent around 3,500 yen per person, so I highly recommend this place. It's hard to get in without a reservation, so considering the capacity, opting for a course menu might be a good idea. If you ever find yourself in Ueno, Tokyo, be sure to consider this place!

The lively atmosphere at Ueno Sakura Terrace made me feel at ease when dining there. The cost performance of the dishes was high, and I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable it was. The yakitori and seasonal dishes were delicious. The sweet and salty sweet potato fries had a striking appearance and seemed to be popular at many tables. There was a wide variety of sake available, and I particularly enjoyed the "TAMA" made with wine yeast, which had a delightful aroma. I would definitely visit again when I'm in Ueno.

When I checked back, I realized I hadn't written any reviews in July at all, which is quite embarrassing. Last week, I went to the special exhibition "Sea" at the National Museum. After seeing the exhibition, I unexpectedly felt hungry, so I decided to stop by a yakitori restaurant for a light meal. Since it was right after opening, I was able to get in without a reservation, but more and more reserved customers arrived. If I had been a little later, I definitely wouldn't have been able to get a seat. The staff informed me that the next reservation was at 7:00, so they kindly asked me to settle the bill a little before then. I had tsukune, tomato bacon wrap, hamo (pike conger) wrapped in shiso leaf and deep-fried, a mixed skewer set of 5, tiramisu, octopus carpaccio, grilled eggplant, appetizer, and a bottle of Amber Ebisu beer. In addition to the recommended items of the day, I particularly enjoyed the hamo wrapped in shiso leaf and deep-fried. It was a tempura dish, but the delicate white meat of the hamo paired with the plum and shiso leaf created a sophisticated and delicious flavor. It was enjoyable and delicious, not intimidating, and a casual place to dine.

I made a reservation and enjoyed some reasonably priced and delicious snacks with highballs. It might be cheaper to go for a course menu, but I decided to order freely what I wanted, which ended up costing quite a bit, maybe because of the drink prices. I thought it would have been nice if they had a single item all-you-can-drink option.

Just a minute's walk from Ueno Station, across the signal, you'll find "Ueno no Mori Sakura Terrace." Feeling like having yakitori, I stopped by this place, which is the closest to Ueno Station, at a late hour. The restaurant was quite crowded, but I managed to find a seat at the counter. Here is what Torimitsu Kuni offers: - All chicken is domestically sourced - Plenty of rare cuts of yakitori - Delicious vegetables sourced from specific regions - Appetizer: Takigawa tofu with sesame-dressed green beans - Cold dish: Fried summer vegetables - Chicken liver teki with leek sauce - Harami: Rare part in the center of chicken thigh - Momosuji: Tender and juicy chicken tendon - Furisode: Rare part at the base of chicken wings - Special liver: Large and satisfying liver - Shiitake mushrooms: Juicy and meaty I intended to just have a light meal, but the fried summer vegetables were delicious, and the abundance of rare cuts made me stay longer than expected. I love sake, so I tried the frozen sake called "Mizore." The server poured it into a frozen pitcher, and the liquid turned into slushy ice! It was so exciting! At first, it was not too sweet and had a refreshing dry taste. As it sat, it became sweeter. It was so much fun! There were some bold flavors too, but all the dishes were delicious. The water was a bit lukewarm.

After the festival at Yushima Tenjin, I tried to have lunch with handball sushi at a restaurant across from the shrine, but it was fully booked. So, I wandered up to Ueno Park and found Torimitsukuni. I ordered their specialty Torimitsu Donburi, which had tsukune, negima, seseri, and mune. The tsukune and negima were incredibly delicious. The seseri was also tasty. The mune was a bit dry, so-so. I'm not a big fan of mune anyway. The Kamakura vegetable mini salad was crunchy and fresh, with no bitterness, very tasty. The soup was a bit salty, but the ginger aroma was really good. It was a delicious restaurant.

Kanko Don (Grilled Skewers Rice Bowl) for 1,100 yen. Located on the basement floor of Sakura Terrace, so it's a bit hard to find, but I was able to quickly stop by for lunch on a weekday. It includes 4 skewers of tsukune, negima, chicken thigh, and chicken tenderloin on a bed of rice. It also comes with salad, chicken broth soup, and pickles. The skewers are delicious on their own, so having them in a rice bowl is also tasty. If you're unsure, I recommend trying this dish.

I arrived around 13:40 because it said lunch was until 14:30. As soon as I entered, I was told it was last order at 14:00 in a blunt manner. I thought I still had 20 minutes, so I ordered. The server seemed to be in a bad mood and didn't even bring a wet towel or tea. I ordered the chicken three-flavor rice bowl. The salad dressing was delicious, and the grilled chicken was really tasty. At first, I enjoyed just the yakitori, and in the second half, I mixed it with the soft-boiled egg and the chicken soup, which were also delicious. It was a paradise for chicken lovers. I wanted some tea at the end, so I asked for it, but when it was brought, there was no cup. The server realized this but didn't say anything, just left the cup there. The food was so delicious that I want to go back, but I don't have high expectations for the service.

Just outside Ueno Station, right below Sakura Terrace. There are small table seats near the entrance, as well as many other seating options. There are multiple staff members in the hall, so the recent labor shortage is not noticeable. I enjoyed the regular grilled chicken assortment and the rare cuts assortment. The downside is the lack of attention from the staff. There were no ice tongs, no stirrers, and no goodbye when leaving... a complete negative point.
