I had a good sleep, so I feel refreshed today. I went to the sauna and now I'm heading to Shinjuku. I plan to walk around Lake Miyagase. I might get bitten by bugs again in my shorts and t-shirt. I stopped by a shop near Odakyu Line underground ticket gate for breakfast. I got 3 rice balls - mentaiko, chicken soboro, and chirimen sansho. The shop was beautiful and the rice balls were delicious. I love rice balls. I forgot to buy a bento box at Hashimoto Station.

I have been passing by this place every day for years, but never actually went in. Finally decided to visit. It was a busy morning on a holiday at 9 am! Mostly take-out orders, so there were seats available for dining in. The line for both take-out and dine-in was the same. Waited in line, ordered, got my tray, and found a seat. Self-serve for water. For breakfast, I got a set of two rice balls - one with cod roe and one with chicken soboro (you can choose your fillings), an eel rice ball, and pickles. The rice balls were soft and flavorful, the eel rice ball was top-notch, and the miso soup was a perfect match. The side dishes were pickles, sautéed burdock root, and a rolled omelette. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality of the food. I regret not having higher expectations just because it's a chain restaurant. Later found out there are only 3 locations nationwide! Even with an extra rice ball and pickles, the total cost was only 1000 yen, which was very reasonable. Good taste, good value. Thank you for the meal! ^_^

I casually stopped by at 10 o'clock on Sunday. After eating pancakes, I felt like having something salty, so I went to the rice ball shop. It's easy to pop in, delicious, and a great place. You can choose between takeout or dining in. The miso soup is also delicious. The rice balls are slightly on the small side considering the price.

I used it for takeout. It's not packed with ingredients, but the small size of the onigiri makes for a good balance between the filling and the rice. With this size of onigiri, you can enjoy different fillings in a few pieces, which is nice. The rice is properly seasoned with salt and tastes delicious. With convenience store onigiri becoming more expensive these days, this is very cost-effective. Next time, I'm thinking of trying dining in as well.

This is a rice ball specialty shop located in a corner where stand-and-eat soba shops line up outside the ground-level ticket gates of the Odakyu Line. You can choose to take out the rice balls at the storefront or eat them inside the shop. Inside the shop, you can choose rice balls and set them with miso soup and side dishes, making it perfect for a quick breakfast. The rice balls are fluffy and the rice is firm, not like the dry or crumbly ones you often eat at the station. Two rice balls with miso soup, rolled omelette, side dishes, and pickles for 500 yen is very reasonable. I felt like I could eat this rice ball frequently.

Recently, there has been a boom in onigiri (rice ball) popularity! The shop "Bonko" in Shinjuku Sanchome (now called Manma) always has a long line every day. If you want to eat onigiri but don't want to wait in line and want to grab a meal near the station, I recommend this shop located near the west exit of Shinjuku station underground near the Odakyu ticket gate. You can choose your favorite onigiri for 370 yen and add a fried chicken set, which is a great option. This time, I chose the Toro Taku and Salmon Ikura onigiri and added the fried chicken set! The fried chicken, pickles, rolled omelette, kinpira gobou, and miso soup make a delightful combination. The onigiri is filled with ingredients all the way through, and the rice is delicious. The Salmon Ikura onigiri is especially recommended. It may not be as high quality as Bonko, but it's great for when you want to enjoy a high-quality onigiri quickly. Thank you for the meal!

The closest restaurant is located just a 1-minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station West Exit. I had planned to go to a curry restaurant on the East side of Shinjuku, but due to a mistake in train connections, I decided to visit a quick and convenient shop on the West side to pass some time. This time, I ordered a fish set (300 yen) with two types of onigiri: mentaiko (214 yen) and salmon with ikura (356 yen). The onigiri were ready-made, so they were served immediately after ordering. The onigiri rice was not warm, but it was fluffy and tasty. The seaweed was a bit in-between crispy and soft, which was a bit disappointing. However, the saltiness was just right and the fillings were customizable, so they were enjoyable to eat. The miso soup had a good flavor and was easy to drink. It wasn't exceptionally delicious, but there wasn't anything particularly bad either, making it a convenient restaurant given its location. Thank you for the meal.

Today's breakfast was at "Odamusubi Honten" in Shinjuku. When it comes to breakfast at Shinjuku Station, the classic Western set meal (ham, eggs, toast, coffee) at "BERG" on the east side is popular, but the new favorite is the Japanese set meal (side dishes, rice balls, miso soup) at "Odamusubi Honten" on the west side. Both dining in and takeout are busy from early in the morning. It's amazing how the rice balls, which cost over 200 yen each, sell like crazy. What a great location near the station! The breakfast dining in menu offers a set of one rice ball for 390 yen, two rice balls for 530 yen, and a set of rice ball and inari sushi for 510 yen. You can choose between Miyagi-grown "hitomebore" rice or "mochimugi sixteen-grain rice." I usually eat hitomebore rice at home, so I tried the sixteen-grain rice. I chose "salmon" as the filling. After paying with PayPay, the order was quickly served at the counter. The set meal includes miso soup, kinpira burdock, pickled vegetables, and rolled omelette. The miso soup was a bit salty, not good for blood pressure. The kinpira burdock was lightly seasoned and tasty. The rolled omelette was pre-made, so it was just average. Well, the kinpira burdock was also pre-made. To maintain a high turnover of customers in this prime location near the station, the strategy is to focus on making rice balls quickly. As for the rice balls, the fluffy sixteen-grain rice paired perfectly with the crispy seaweed from Ariake and the salmon flakes inside were satisfying. However, I prefer rice balls with chunks of grilled salmon inside. But still, is it really worth 230 yen for just one rice ball? I couldn't see the value matching the cost at all... This place seems a bit pricey for everyday use. It might be more useful for buying a bento box for a trip to Hakone or for a quick takeout when you're really pressed for time.

I sometimes stop by. I think the set meals inside the store are a good deal. The onigiri from Juurokugome Onigiri is delicious. They also offer takeout! On this day, I ate inside the store. It's just the right amount for breakfast and very helpful. I will go again this week.

On this day, I had breakfast at a rice ball shop near the Odakyu Line ticket gate at Shinjuku Station. They open at 6:30 in the morning, and because of their convenient location, they have many customers. They offer around 20 different rice balls, with prices ranging from 120 yen for a simple rice ball to 350 yen for a salmon and salmon roe rice ball (takeout prices). The main options are around 200 yen. They also offer a variety of rice options, including white rice and mixed grain rice, with a total of 22 types available. Breakfast rice ball sets are available until 11:00 am, with options like one rice ball for 390 yen, two rice balls for 530 yen, or a rice ball and inari sushi for 510 yen (all tax included). I ordered the breakfast rice ball set with two rice balls for 530 yen, choosing salmon and minced chicken as my fillings. The set also came with miso soup, two side dishes, and pickles (Shiba-zuke). The miso soup had seaweed and gluten, while the side dishes were kinpira burdock root and two pieces of rolled omelette. The rice balls were generously filled and easy to eat, with the salmon being fluffy and the minced chicken having a sweet and savory flavor. The rice balls were delicious until the last bite. Overall, this rice ball shop was a great choice for breakfast, and I highly recommend it.

I arrived at Shinjuku Station around 7:05 in the morning for a specific reason. I wanted to have a quick breakfast, so I went out of the JR Shinjuku Station Central West Exit and found "Odamusubi" right near the Odakyu Shinjuku Station ticket gate. From the name, it seems to be a rice ball shop directly managed by Odakyu. When I looked at the menu displayed outside, I saw a breakfast rice ball set for 390 yen! It's a super cheap and cost-effective breakfast. You can choose from 14 different rice balls without any additional charge. I chose the mentaiko rice ball made with barley sixteen-grain rice. This rice ball was incredibly delicious. It was well thought out. The set also came with pickles, tsukudani (preserved food), 2 slices of rolled omelette, and a bite-sized kinpira burdock root for this price. It was a delightful breakfast. Happy ending.

Shinjuku Station, near the Odakyu Line ticket gates. It's a rice ball stand... I think that's what it's called. Well, maybe I'm wrong, haha. You can easily get delicious rice balls here, whether you eat in or take out. The morning set menu is reasonably priced, starting from 390 yen to 530 yen. There are some restrictions on the rice balls you can order, but the prices are really great. The store may be a bit small, but it's bright and clean inside. I'll definitely visit again when I crave rice balls in the morning.
- Morning Set: 1 rice ball set for 390 yen, includes rice ball, miso soup, kinpira burdock, pickled vegetables, and 2 slices of rolled omelette.
- You can only choose rice balls with a red sticker on the menu. I chose the spicy cod roe flavor, which had plenty of filling. The rice is from Hitomebore in Tome City, Miyagi Prefecture. It's a bit softer than I prefer, but still delicious even when cold. The miso soup was a bit salty for my taste.

I felt like having a quick meal of rice, so I used ! I also wanted some side dishes, so I made a colorful bento box with vegetables (onigiri with chicken soboro and tarako on multi-grain rice with barley). The saltiness was just right, and the barley was chewy and very delicious!

I went with mochi barley 16-grain ❤️ It's just a regular onigiri but so delicious~ I love the grilled tarako flavor ♡♡ They also have sets where you can choose fried chicken, a side dish, and your favorite onigiri. The rice used is "hitomebore" from Tome City, Miyagi Prefecture, and the nori is high quality seaweed produced in the Seto Inland Sea overlooking Awaji Island in the Harima Sea. The fillings for the onigiri are made with carefully selected seasonal ingredients. Please enjoy the homemade taste. I don't have much time, so I had a quick meal. This is "Odamusubi", a rice ball specialty shop located inside Shinjuku Station. It seemed like they use additive-free ingredients, but I wasn't sure. Despite my lack of time, I decided to eat in. It was lunchtime, so the staff were a bit brisk. I usually prefer white rice for rice balls, but this time I chose mixed grain rice with spicy cod roe and salmon. Sometimes, we make unexpected choices, and that was the case this time. For an additional 280 yen, I added fish, a side dish, and miso soup to my order, bringing the total to 708 yen. First, I tried the miso soup, which tasted like instant soup. I wished they had served a homemade version since they focus on rice balls. The mackerel side dish was average, similar to school cafeteria food. The rolled omelette and pickled vegetables were also typical store-bought items. As for the rice ball, I found that mixed grain rice is not suitable for rice balls. It was difficult to eat as it crumbled easily, and the various textures and flavors of the mixed grains interfered with the taste of the fillings. Also, the spicy cod roe seemed to contain additives, giving it a processed taste. Considering the quality, the price of 708 yen seems a bit high. Even though it was a quick meal, I don't think I'll be returning. Perhaps, ordering a white rice rice ball (excluding the spicy cod roe) for takeout might be a better option. Thank you for the meal.

Odamusubi is a place where you can get good deals on sets. I always used their takeout service, but I didn't know they had a main store here. Today, I enjoyed their fried chicken and miso soup in the eat-in area. I always choose the mentaiko, it's just the right size and so cute!

There is a rice ball specialty store called Odamusi near the underground ticket gate at Shinjuku Station on the Odakyu Line. They have various types of rice balls, some made with white rice and others with sixteen-grain rice. I bought a salmon rice ball for 190 yen (excluding tax) and a cod roe rice ball for 180 yen (excluding tax). The rice balls were softly packed and generously filled with ingredients, making them feel like a good deal at this price.
