Located in Hamadayama, Suginami-ku, Tokyo, this Thai restaurant opened in November 2021. The nearest station is Hamadayama Station on the Keio Inokashira Line. It is situated along the station platform and tracks. It takes about 3-4 minutes on foot from the ticket gate, as you need to walk around and cross the railroad crossing. While the local trains are not too noisy, the sound and vibration from the express trains passing by give the restaurant a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere.
During my visit around noon on a weekday, there were six customers already seated (including a group of four mom friends) and one customer who came in later. The interior of the restaurant is quite compact, and it seems like it could get crowded with around 10 people. The staff, consisting of three Thai women, create a homely atmosphere similar to being in a Thai household.
After placing my order verbally, I tried the Tom Yum Ta-chan set for 1,080 yen, which came with rice, salad, and dessert. It was described as a Thai countryside-style ramen. Instead of the usual sour and spicy Tom Yum, it was made with thin Sen Lek noodles. The dish included minced chicken, fried wontons, fish balls, coriander, daikon, dried shrimp, chopped green onions, and more. The soup was a light chicken broth base, so adding condiments like Krung Phung (chili vinegar) was necessary to adjust the flavor. I finished off the meal by mixing the rice into the remaining soup.
Most of the other customers ordered the Gapao set, which seemed popular. I'll have to try that next time. Overall, it was a delicious meal, and I would consider revisiting this cozy restaurant.
