Hormone. Be careful of purines! So, I drink Hoppy. Sometimes I suddenly feel like going. That's Kushiya Yokocho. Kiba, Ningyocho, Asakusabashi, etc... Since I'm drinking Hoppy, I'll allow myself to eat the following: - Liver skewers - Liver sandwich - Super hormone

After feeling hungry with my junior colleague, we decided to head back to the office and stumbled upon Kushiya Yokocho for a 1-hour challenge. It was early, so only two groups were on the second floor. I was a bit worried, but we ordered items like Kobukuro, Harami, and chicken skin. We also had drinks like Hoppy, Lemon Highball, and beer. The skewers were quite large and tasty. I thought this place might be a good find because it's affordable. However, the menu inside the restaurant was a bit messy, which was a shame.

Visited on Thursday at 7 pm. Used to frequent this place a lot in the past. It used to be bustling with energy, even opening 2 or 3 more branches, but now only the original one remains. The nearby Ryogoku branch has also closed down. Perhaps due to the rising cost of ingredients or cutting down on staff, they are now running with just 3 employees and struggling to keep up, resulting in a lackluster experience. The taste remains the same as before, but it's disappointing to see. Such a waste.

We went around 19:30 with 3 people. The place was almost full around that time. There was some space at the counter for solo customers. There were quite a few solo customers. We had previously visited the Hachiman Honmachi branch in Chiba with the same group, and it was amazing. This area has a good atmosphere with many nice izakayas lined up, so we walked around and checked them out. But in the end, we decided on Hormone Roll, which seems to be the signature dish here. When we asked for recommendations, they said, "Leave it to us, the manager will provide the best taste of the day." The skewers and the liver fry were the best! The liver fry had a slightly pink center, just perfect! I wanted to order 2 or 3 plates of it, but my companions asked me to stop. The tongue, simmered dish, and liver 1st were a bit tough. Some people like it that way, though. They have a "Mega" size for drinks, and the staff will ask if you want it. It's efficient, I guess. Of course, I said ok. Oh, I remember they had a pitcher of highball. If there are 3 or more people, the pitcher is recommended. We had to leave after an hour because we had plans at a nearby shop. Even so, we managed to have 3 drinks each in that short time. And it was still under 3,000 yen per person. Only stayed for an hour, but still. In other reviews, it was mentioned that the smoke on the 2nd floor is strong. There was indeed a lot of smoke, so if you're seated on the 2nd floor, it's good to be aware of this in advance.

I had a great time having a drink at "Kushiya Yokocho Asakusabashi Ichigoten" in Asakusabashi, Taito-ku, Tokyo. Their specialty is the Super Hormone Roll, which is a skewer of large hormone pieces grilled with sauce. I recommend trying the Liver No.1 skewer seasoned with sesame salt and garlic as well.

The draft beer and appetizer cabbage were delicious. The Motsu stew was also tasty. It's a dish where potatoes and Motsu are simmered in a ginger-based soup, and it was very filling, almost too much for two people. We couldn't eat any other snacks because of the portion size. The hot water split with shochu bottle warmed us up.

This is a yakiniku izakaya run by foreigners, with a reasonable price range. They offer a variety of dishes, from motsu yaki to large yakitori and flavorful small plates, making it a great place to enjoy with alcohol. For around 1000 yen, you can get a pitcher of pre-made highball, which is a good deal. The atmosphere is typical of a traditional izakaya with red lanterns, but the place is small and cleanliness is average.

This is Kushiyokocho near Asakusabashi Station, where there are many izakayas clustered together. Note that there is another Kushiyokocho about two doors down from this shop. Not only this shop, but there are many old buildings in the Asakusabashi area. The atmosphere on the first floor visible from the sidewalk is attractive, but when you enter, you may be guided to the second floor. Unfortunately, the second floor has a low ceiling and is crowded, which can dampen the fun. In this area, it is wiser to decline the second floor. This time, I stayed on the first floor and ordered the Super Hormone Roll. By the way, I saw the cooking method this time, and the Super Hormone Roll is first completely cooked in a microwave to a steamed state and then grilled before serving. The cost performance of this dish is excellent. However, while the cost performance of the meat dishes is good, there is nothing beyond that. Therefore, it is best to use this kind of shop quickly without lingering and then drink at another shop. It is the perfect place for bar hopping.

【串屋横丁 Asakusabashi No.1 Store】Tokyo/Asakusabashi Station Under the Guard
The area around Asakusabashi station is filled with affordable and delicious eateries, but among them, my recent favorite spot is this place that is always bustling with customers every day!
=======A la carte Menu=======
〈Jumbo Skewer Series 1 skewer for 150 yen〉
Otoro Hormone Tanmoto Yakitori
Super Hormone Roll
Red Motsu Mix
Vinegar Motsu 390 yen
Senmai Sashi 390 yen
Salt Rakkyo 490 yen
Maca Potato Salad 490 yen
=========================
You absolutely must try the Jumbo Skewer Series! Despite being incredibly cheap, the portion size is amazing! Especially the Super Hormone Roll, priced at 150 yen for a skewer of 100g, offers a delicious taste that will satisfy any hormone lover! And the Salt Rakkyo is a must-order, I love it so much that I could eat it forever with a beer in hand. The Maca Potato Salad has that commercial side dish feel that is so good - you can't resist the rich mayo. Although it's priced at 490 yen, it doesn't bother me because the other hormone skewers are affordable. Enjoying a meal and drinks, you can easily spend around 3000 yen per person, right on the edge!
With many branches, I'm sure there are many fans of this place!

[Tokyo: Asakusabashi Kushiyokocho Asakusabashi Ichigoten] My favorite couple took me to a cheap and delicious motsunabe restaurant they love ❤️ Located under the Asakusabashi Station overpass, this place has a great izakaya vibe!
[Order]
- Jumbo Skewer Series: 1 skewer for 150 yen
- Otoro Hormone
- Tanmoto
- Jumbo Yakitori
- Super Hormone Roll
- Red Motsu Mix
- Vinegar Motsu: 390 yen
- Senmai Sashimi: 390 yen
- Salted Radish: 490 yen
- Macapote Salad: 490 yen
Wow... Isn't it really cheap? It reminded me of the affordability of Osaka's downtown, which made me happy. Especially the Jumbo Skewer Series is super cost-effective! Each skewer is only 150 yen, and the Super Hormone Roll has a whopping 100g per skewer!! It's seriously a great deal. My favorites are the Otoro Hormone and the Super Hormone Roll. They are not only cheap but also really delicious! Both my partner and I, who love motsu, were hooked.
They also have vinegar motsu, senmai sashimi, and other appetizers, and the industrial feel of the Macapote Salad is also great. There were many other attractive menu items, but it's a popular place and it was crowded early on this day, with many items sold out... Amazing in this day and age! I definitely want to come back for a rematch.
[Summary]
Eating and drinking to your heart's content for less than 3000 yen per person is the best! This is a place where you can easily go because it's cheap and delicious. The staff are mostly foreigners, but they are all cheerful and friendly (^^)♪

After going to the gym, I made a solo attack on the first alley of Asakusabashi Kushiyokocho in the red-light district. The customers are few, so the first and second alleys are fiercely competing for customers. I presented the black drink passport, the highest status in Kushiyokocho, and received a white hoppy set as a service. I enjoyed delicious sausages, chicken fry, tan sandwich, red motsu mix, and more. Due to the state of emergency, the business hours have been moved up to 10:45-20:00, and motsu (offal) is being sold at the store for 100 yen per kilogram for staying at home.

This place is my favorite spot to get drunk, managed by a Nepalese owner and staffed by Nepalese employees who are well-trained, so you never feel uncomfortable. It used to be the only one in the neighborhood, but it has since absorbed nearby establishments and now operates 3 locations. (The menu is the same at each location.) Today I want to introduce my favorite dish: thick and juicy charcoal-grilled harami. Just this alone can easily be paired with 3 glasses of Hoppy. The simmered offal is also delicious, but the miso-based soup is exceptionally tasty. The garlic flavor is strong and adds to the dish. With a total cost of around 2000 yen, it's more than enough, so I highly recommend checking it out.

After work, I made a solo attack on the first alley of the Asakusabashi Kushiyokocho Belt area. The customers are scarce, so the first and second alleys are fiercely competing for customers. I presented the black drink passport, the highest status in Kushiyokocho, and received a complimentary highball. I enjoyed delicious sausages, raw pork intestines, and liver number 2.

I was looking for a place where I could have a drink while having dinner, and I was drawn in by the energetic call of the staff. I entered the restaurant right away. The staff all seemed to be Chinese. Although they were not very fluent, they tried their best to serve us. The atmosphere was similar to a standing bar in Shinbashi, but with chairs where you could sit and eat. The food was like that of a yakitori restaurant. It was perfect for a quick meal and drink. You can get a refill of the cabbage appetizer. The skewers and other dishes were decent. The rice dishes were a bit generous, even the half portion was quite a lot, like 1.5 servings in a regular bowl. It was nice to see a foreign-run izakaya styled like a Japanese standing bar, showing the effort of the management. They also had a convenient point card system, so I would definitely like to come back.

The restaurant I went to was pretty good, but I hadn't posted about it before. There are a lot of foreign staff working in the kitchen and the dining area, but everyone is very friendly. The service is great and the food is delicious with good value for money. The fresh, thick-skinned raw green peppers are a must-order every time. And on days off, I always order the deep-fried whole garlic!

This restaurant, which is usually always full, is currently empty due to the recent situation. I started with a draft beer and ordered some appetizers. The skewers here are huge, especially the super hormone skewer. If you order thinking it's a normal skewer restaurant, you might not be able to finish it. The menu is a bit hard to read, but the variety is good. However, maybe because of COVID, the door was left open and it was very cold inside. It was so cold that I had to keep my coat on. I would like to visit again if it's not too crowded.

For the third stop of the Asakusabashi drinking tour, we visited a place near the station around 10pm. The staff informed us that the place was full, but luckily some people were leaving just as we were about to leave. We managed to get a table and ordered drinks like Hoppy set (white), Highball, and Hoppy set (black). The service was good and the staff responded quickly to our orders. Even though I was quite drunk at that point, I enjoyed the experience and would like to visit again if I have the chance to drink around Asakusabashi station.

We went to the second location of this izakaya, which has branches in Tokyo, Chiba, and Saitama. When we peeked inside from outside, all the counter seats were taken, but we found out there was a second floor with available seating. There were three of us, and we ordered a pitcher of highball. It was a good deal as we could get around 5-6 glasses. For snacks, we had a light potato salad, grilled skewers, and black intestines cooked in sesame oil. The skewers were delicious, but the black intestines were also great - refreshing with a nice texture that made you want to keep eating. Personally, I find it a bit tiresome that smoking is allowed, but it's quite convenient when you want to have a lively drinking session with friends!

I had some errands in Yotsuya and on my way back home, I felt like having a leisurely drink, so I got off at Asakusabashi. Since I'm heading towards Chiba, I walked around and chose this place. It's a reasonable and quite generous restaurant, so this is my third time visiting. I ordered the horse sashimi small plate this time and it was delicious. The highball is around 380 yen and since it's a counter seat, it's easy to visit alone. I think I went to the first store last time, and the second store on my first visit. Thank you for the meal. I will probably go again.
