A shop where you can smoke rare cigarettes nowadays. They have a wide variety of dishes, and even have soba noodles for the finale! I love izakayas like this. *Ratings are based on a five-point scale. ★1 point, ☆0.5 points ■Taste: ★★★☆ ■Atmosphere: ★★★☆ ■Cost performance: ★★★☆ ◎Overall: 3.5 points

I was invited by a junior colleague at work to visit this restaurant, and they said, "Everything here is delicious, so let's go!" It turned out to be true - everything I ate was really tasty! The duck tataki (if I got the name wrong, I apologize) was especially delicious, I even ended up ordering another plate before finishing the first one. They also serve good beer - Kirin beer, to be specific! The atmosphere inside the restaurant is lively and it's a great place for casual dining. It's not just for dates, but a really good restaurant overall! The food was really delicious! I will definitely visit again! Thank you so much!

This is a restaurant located a short walk from Kanda Station North Exit. On this day, we had a gathering with old friends and enjoyed delicious dishes and shochu. The atmosphere seems to attract a lot of salarymen, but I believe women who love good izakaya food would also enjoy it (when we went, there was even a girls' night out in the back, so I think it's a safe bet). It's conveniently close to the station and there are various other shops around, so give it a try if you're interested. Also, there's a Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki restaurant called Carp Tokyo Branch nearby, just for your reference. It was delicious! We'll definitely go back again. Thank you for the meal! ✨

Kanda Station is about a 3-minute walk away. Many izakayas tend to close early, but this one stays open until 3 am even on weekdays, making it convenient for salarymen from the Showa era. The atmosphere and interior of the restaurant have a nice retro feel. Yesterday, I left the office after overtime at 9 pm and arrived at the restaurant at 10 pm. If it closed at 11 pm, the last order would be at 10:30 pm, which would be a bit tight. I was happy to be able to order without worrying about the last order time and could relax. It was lucky that the seats were almost full at this time and I could find a spot. For food, I ordered a sashimi platter with bonito, squid, and sea bream, as well as horse sashimi, and optional tempura. The presentation of each dish was beautiful and the taste was fresh and delicious, especially the horse sashimi was outstanding. The variety of tempura options was fun to choose from. They have a wide selection of drinks, especially sours for an izakaya, and a separate menu for sake lovers. I was in the mood for sake, so I enjoyed trying different types. There is a counter seat available so it's also suitable for solo customers, as well as for friends or couples who enjoy drinking. This restaurant, open until late at night, has become one of my precious finds.

Every time I passed by, I noticed this restaurant was always full, so I made a reservation and finally visited. The counter seating was great because I could watch the chef cooking right in front of me. The owner was quiet but very kind and willing to share information when I asked. The food was delicious, with a wide variety of menu options. Everything was made by the owner alone, and the dishes came out one after another like a dance. It's no wonder this place is so popular. I couldn't try everything I wanted, so I definitely plan to visit again soon. This is a great place to enjoy delicious seasonal dishes!

Maruie is an izakaya located on a side street east of Tachimachi-dori in Kanda Kajicho 3-chome. It's known for staying open late, which is convenient in this area. The menu highlights sashimi and tempura. I visited with a friend around 11 PM. The small interior has 5 counter seats and about 5 tables, with 2 staff members managing the place. We ordered a draft beer and a hoppy set. The complimentary dish was tempura bits, which were refreshing. My friend also ordered potato fries, which were crispy and delicious. I tried a glass of red wine while my friend had another hoppy. It seems like we'll be having a late night again...

It's been a while since I last came, but the members are the same as before and the deliciousness remains unchanged. I'm glad I came. One of the attractions here is that smoking is allowed at the table. Tempura is only available at the counter, but they provide excellent hospitality. I got carried away and even ordered locust simmered in soy sauce. The sashimi is fresh, and the tempura of salmon roe and the salt-grilled chicken neck are delicious too. Thank you for the meal.

Sashimi, tempura, and grilled fish are all incredibly delicious. The duck seiro soba as a finishing touch is outstanding. Sitting at the counter, you can feel the kindness of the owner. Whether for business or with friends, this is a lovely restaurant with delicious food and drinks waiting for you.
We used a private room for a welcome and farewell party. The course included all-you-can-drink (except for sake) for about 5000 yen, and the food was delicious. We had dishes like shirako with ponzu sauce, whole grilled saury, and each person got one. The sashimi and freshly fried tempura (green beans, bamboo shoots, shrimp, pumpkin, if I remember correctly) were also delicious. There was plenty of meat in the hot pot too! We finished with udon noodles. The staff was nice, and I will definitely come back here again! November 2019, Foodlog 3.16 (11 reviews)

I happened to pass by "Maruya" in Kanda and decided to give it a try. It's a casual restaurant in a good way. At first, I thought it was a slightly upscale izakaya, but it was only half correct. The restaurant has a chef who can make decent dishes, but it also offers menu items like Wiener schnitzel that are familiar yet unique. They had a good selection of sake, although the prices were a bit high. As someone who enjoys sake, it can be tough when sake is not affordable. I ordered the anchovy cabbage, but it was overly salty, which was disappointing. However, the fact that they are open until 4 am is a plus. In Kanda, it can be hard to find places open past 10 pm, so knowing that this restaurant is open late is reassuring.

I visited this restaurant for the first time because I was interested in their tempura. You can get freshly fried tempura for as low as 150 yen, and they look beautiful! They have a wide variety of ingredients for the tempura, and if you select the cheaper options, you can enjoy a tempura and drink combo for a reasonable price. On this day, I was treated to a meal, so I also ordered sashimi! The botan shrimp, tuna, and other ingredients were all delicious and fresh. The sashimi is around 800 yen, so it's a bit pricey, but the quality is so high that I was satisfied! I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again.

From Toranomon Masumoto to Kanda. I brought a friend to drink at a favorite restaurant of mine, but all the places were full. It was a Friday night in mid-April, so maybe they were busy with welcome parties. Just when I was worried, my friend suggested Maruya near the west exit of Kanda Station. We found a place and I ordered black Hoppy. Cheers. They had a vast menu with seafood sashimi, grilled fish, simmered dishes. Under the blackboard, there were paper tags listing the tempura menu. I ordered whitefish from the seafood section. The freshness of the whitefish was exceptional. Served with ponzu sauce. It was so fresh that you could feel the firmness of the flesh and bones. Then we had karasumi. It seemed homemade, with just the right amount of saltiness making it easy to eat. From the grilled fish section, we had grilled cutlassfish with salt. Despite being fatty, this fish was easy to eat. I ordered another round of Hoppy. For the last drink, we had highballs. It was Friday, but maybe because I had risky sake at the first place, I was feeling a bit tipsy. When I checked the time, I realized the last train was approaching. This place apparently operates until the first train on weekdays, which is convenient but also risky if you stay too long. It had been a while since I took a late train home, so I needed to be careful not to miss my stop.

I have been using this tempura-focused izakaya several times, and it is a very convenient place for me. The reason is that it is not too crowded, relatively quiet, and conveniently located not too far from Kanda Station. I have never encountered extremely drunk people there, and the size of the restaurant is just right for the staff to provide attentive service. I don't remember much from this day, but I do recall eating sea urchin. Ordering sea urchin without hesitation is a sign that I was probably drunk. I also ordered grated yam with plum, shishamo, and waited for the tempura. It's rare to find a place where you can enjoy tempura at an izakaya. When the season comes, I always end up ordering oyster tempura. Oysters are always delicious, no matter how you eat them. I also had the classic maitake mushrooms and tried a bite of my junior's Camembert cheese, which was so good that I ended up drinking sake. Oh, that's why I don't remember much. In any case, I always have a good time at this restaurant. Although sitting at the counter alone while eating tempura might be a bit awkward, I'll definitely return when I feel like having oysters.

As mentioned in the reviews, you can enjoy delicious tempura at a very reasonable price here. It's strange that there is no typical tempura restaurant smell. All the side dishes besides tempura were also good. They have a good selection of sake, so I definitely want to visit this wonderful izakaya in Kanda again.
