On Sunday evening (May 14th), I visited Yakitori Yamaka in Kagurazaka. The restaurant has a high reputation among food lovers, and I had been wanting to go there for a while. The restaurant is located just a minute away from the Kagurazaka Station on the Tozai Line, on the second floor of a building with an L-shaped counter. The chef, originally from Kochi Prefecture, served a variety of chicken dishes such as Hachikin Jidori, Kuro Satsuma chicken, Aizu Jidori, Shingen chicken, along with Kochi's local sake. The meal started with a refreshing domestic pesticide-free lemon sour drink, followed by three appetizers: a chawanmushi made with Jiro eggs and meat, a rillette of Kuro Satsuma chicken and Aizu Jidori, and a jellied dish made with Hachikin Jidori breast meat and dashi broth. The grilled chicken skewers included Hachikin Jidori wings, Kuro Satsuma chicken thighs, Aizu Jidori hearts, and various grilled vegetables. The seasoning options included Tano-ya Shirojiro salt from Kochi, golden mustard, and yuzu pepper. The meal was accompanied by cold sake, such as Mampuku Izumi Junmai Ginjo Omachi Limited Edition from Toyama Prefecture and Keigetsu Aikawa Homare Yamahai Junmai from Kochi Prefecture. The meal was rounded off with simmered Hachikin Jidori wing tips, thick fried tofu, Shingen chicken liver, and tsukune. Additional skewers were ordered, and the meal ended with Imo Shochu Mizunomori soda, Kuro Satsuma chicken tail with shiitake mushroom, Aizu Jidori gizzard, and Kuro Satsuma chicken wing. The final drink was Awamori soda from Yakushima. It was a delightful dining experience.

I was introduced to this place by an acquaintance and decided to give it a try. I ordered the Yama-Ko course for 7000 yen and added the oyakodon. The lineup was well-balanced with various types of yakitori, and the soup (which I forgot to take a picture of) was delicious with a rich broth. I didn't get tired of eating until the end. The oyakodon was also tasty and I recommend ordering it as a finishing touch for 600 yen. Overall, I was impressed by the meticulous work done here. They have a good selection of sake, and even though it was my first time visiting, I found the atmosphere cozy and I really liked it. I would like to visit again.

Just a 1-minute walk from Kagurazaka Station, this restaurant with a sommelier head chef serves delicious charcoal-grilled local chicken skewers. The 8-course meal paired with different wines was a delightful experience, teaching me how to enjoy wine with grilled chicken. The first glass was a sparkling Crémant for a toast, followed by dishes like steamed egg custard with bacon-like flavor, succulent chicken breast with peppers, and juicy chicken liver with mustard. Each wine pairing enhanced the flavors beautifully. The orange wine with earthy notes paired well with the rich flavors of grilled chicken liver. Overall, a wonderful dining experience with excellent food and wine pairings.

It was a very delicious course. I had the Yamaka course. First, I had a chilled chawanmushi with tomatoes and flower petals, along with a mix of Tosa Jidori chicken breast and kinpira burdock. Then, I enjoyed chicken thigh and fresh wood ear mushrooms simmered in Shaoxing wine. Next was an organic vegetable salad with nectarines on top, a refreshing and tasty salad. I toasted with Snow Jasmine, a very refreshing jasmine tea. Then came the skewers. Starting with chicken tenderloin was amazing. Chicken skin with onions was also delicious. I had Aizu Jidori chicken tail next, followed by broccoli and Shingen chicken hearts connected. Then, I enjoyed Aizu Jidori chicken negima skewers and Tosa Jiro charcoal-grilled chicken with thigh and breast meat seasoned with salt and sudachi. Tosa Jiro is firm and muscular but juicy. Next was Tosa Hachikin Jidori chicken wing stew, which was delicious with a flavorful soup. I also had Shingen Dori liver, tender and tasty, along with delicious shiitake mushrooms and a liver paste for a palate cleanser. Finally, I had tsukune with plenty of juicy meat. The meal ended with chicken bone soup and hojicha tea. It was incredibly delicious. Thank you very much.

A wonderful yakitori restaurant. The prices are not too high, and the small size of the shop gives it a cozy hidden gem atmosphere. All the skewers were delicious, especially the shiitake mushrooms and green onions. They also have a good selection of wines.

I didn't expect to find a shop I could visit regularly since coming to Tokyo. That's how much I am captivated by the yakitori here. There are other yakitori shops nearby that I want to try, but I keep coming back here. The warmth of the shop also adds to the experience.

The balance between the grilled chicken and vegetable skewers is great! I added ice cream to the Yama Ka course. The grilling was just to my liking. It will soon be a famous restaurant for sure! #YakitoriYamaka #Yakitori #ChickenDish #CourseMenu #KagurazakaGourmet #TokyoGourmet #WantToConnectWithFoodies

I was able to enter a yakitori restaurant near Kagurazaka Station because I was alone when I passed by. They mainly use Tosa Hachikin Jidori chicken for their skewers, and the sake they serve is mainly from Kochi, so I wonder if the owner is from Kochi? It was very delicious, so I definitely want to go back again!

Quail eggs are exquisite! The perfect half-cooked texture! The quail skewers, which seem like they would be labor-intensive, are served with a half-cooked and slightly seared egg-like texture. Delicious! The half-cooked texture is excellent! The restaurant is on the second floor and has a slightly inconspicuous appearance, but it's definitely worth a visit.

I had the Yamaka course and enjoyed delicious chicken from Satsuma and Tosa. Every dish was tasty without any disappointments. The finale of minced chicken rice bowl was excellent. The meal included three appetizers, salad, black Satsuma chicken breast, chicken skin with ponzu sauce, Shingen chicken gizzard, black Satsuma chicken thigh, Santon, Tosa Jiro salt-grilled chicken, Satsuma chicken heart, Tosa Hachikin chicken wing stew, shiitake mushrooms, thick fried tofu, black Satsuma chicken tail meat, tsukune, dango, minced chicken rice bowl, and soup. Additional items: liver paste, Shingen chicken liver, half-sized parent and child rice bowl.

Grill a chicken that is not too muscular and rich in flavor over hot charcoal. The high heat gives the yakitori a delicious taste. The heartfelt yakitori and friendly service create a relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant, allowing each customer to have a wonderful time. It's amazing. I love it.

Kagurazaka Yamaka. 3rd visit. I came again. Today's performance was excellent. In the past, I felt that the bird density was a bit low. However, this time, there was no room for improvement, it was perfect. The yakitori had a lot of heat, beautifully capturing the taste of Aizu Jidori and the robust flavor of black Satsuma Jidori. Each skewer was full of heat, aroma, and rich broth. The zucchini was also wonderful, but the lotus root was out of this world. It was an exhilarating meal. Whenever I feel like eating yakitori, this is the place to go. I won't cheat on them in the future.

Dinner at a Yakitori restaurant in Kagurazaka. I had been curious about this place as I occasionally see it on social media. My friend made a reservation for us, and we visited on a weekday at 7:30 pm. It's conveniently close to the station. You have to use stairs to get to the restaurant on the second floor, so be careful if you're too drunk. The interior has an L-shaped counter surrounding the grilling area, with a calming atmosphere of warm wood. They offer several courses, but you can decide on one after you arrive. It seems that ordering a course is required until 9 pm, and after that, you can order a la carte. We chose the Yamaka course this time. They use various types of chicken, such as Shingen chicken, Aizu local chicken, and Satsuma local chicken. The grilling is done thoroughly. The charcoal-grilled Tosa Jiro chicken, although not on a skewer, was incredibly delicious. The Soboro rice bowl we ordered as the finale was so luxurious with more Soboro than rice. The contents of the course that day were: Yamaka Course ¥6500 - 3 appetizers - Seasonal pesticide-free vegetable salad - Chicken breast, skin, neck, zucchini, green onion, boiled chicken wings, charcoal-grilled Tosa Jiro chicken (breast, thigh, skin), heart and gizzard, shiitake mushroom, thick tofu, dango skewers, chicken meatballs, chicken wings, additional items: chicken tenderloin, chicken soup, additional item: Soboro rice bowl.

I was craving yakitori, so I decided to give them a call. This place offers a la carte skewers starting from 9 PM. They also have set courses, but I appreciated the option to choose exactly what I wanted to eat. The place was popular even at 9 PM, but luckily they were able to find me a seat. The appetizer set was great, with dishes like Tosa Jiro tomato chawanmushi and chicken breast with yam and kikurage mushrooms. I ordered the assorted 6 skewers set (2,640 yen) and then decided on what else I wanted to eat and drink. The owner was very friendly and it was clear that they also love yakitori. I will definitely be back to try more of their delicious skewers.

A sincere restaurant owner serves carefully prepared yakitori. They select high-quality branded chicken with just the right amount of flavor, so you don't get tired of eating it. The portion size is just right, not too much or too little. The pricing for the course menu is also reasonable. The term "everyday yakitori" is inappropriate here. Yakitori is all about being able to enjoy it normally. This is a great place that fulfills that ideal. The service is also good, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant. It had been a while since I had a solo drink, but I didn't feel uncomfortable at all.

I visited this sushi restaurant in Saitama, recommended by someone I dined with. They use various types of local chicken, each with their own recommended cuts to try. I had the black Satsuma chicken, Shingen chicken, and Aizu local chicken. As mentioned in other reviews, the owner is handsome. But he also has great grilling skills, so the yakitori is also enjoyable. The course menu includes more than just yakitori, and everything was delicious. I think I added about 5 extra skewers. I would love to visit this place frequently if it were closer. They also have a good selection of wines that would pair well with the yakitori, so I would like to go with a group next time and enjoy a bottle. Thank you for the meal.

When it comes to yakitori in Tokyo, I heard that "Yamaka" in Osaka is excellent, so I went there! The interior of the restaurant is quite stylish with only a counter, and I was seated in the middle. I ordered a course of six types of yakitori. The appetizers were also stylish, and the salad was delicious. And finally, the yakitori was amazing! The experience of seeing it grilled right in front of you was fantastic. I also ordered some additional yakitori, and the skin and chicken wings were particularly impressive. The service from the staff was also great, and even though the restaurant was full, the atmosphere was welcoming and enjoyable. I usually don't like stiff restaurants, but Yamaka was very relaxed and easy to enjoy. I will definitely visit again.

Kagurazaka's delicious yakitori restaurant "Yamaka" is known for using a variety of chicken types such as Tosa Jiro, Hachikin Jidori, Aizu Jidori, Oyama Jidori, Kuro Satsuma Jidori, and Shingen Jidori, each for different parts of the chicken. The Yamaka course for 6960 yen offers great quality and quantity at a good cost performance. We also recommend adding the parent and child rice bowl as a closing dish. The skewers are all delicious, with the chicken's umami flavor being condensed through careful grilling over Tosa Binchotan charcoal. This place makes you think they deserve a higher score on food review websites. ◼️Previous Tabelog rating: 3.51 (as of October 2022) Genre: Yakitori ◼️Food Consumed - Assorted appetizers (3 types) - Additional: Bonjiri with ponzu sauce (825 yen) - Skewers: Black Satsuma chicken breast, Chicken tail, Chicken thigh, Salad, Thick fried tofu, Grilled vegetables, Chicken breast, Chicken thigh, Chicken skin, Simmered chicken wings, Chicken heart, Pate and baguette, Rice dumplings, Soup - Additional skewers: Chicken neck, Chicken skin, Chicken liver - Additional dishes: Oyakodon (Chicken and egg rice bowl), Soborodon (Minced chicken rice bowl) ◼️Overall Impression It was a good experience! It's a great place to bring a cute girl along! (Oh, I'm very plain-looking myself.) Yakitori restaurants have a serving style where you don't have to share all the dishes, so it's enjoyable for both parties! The food was delicious! The restaurant is clean, not smoky inside, not much offal dishes, and the doneness of the meat was just right, maybe a bit on the rare side. So, it feels like a place where anyone can have a good time. Some high-end yakitori restaurants may focus on set courses, but here, a la carte seems to be okay too! I personally liked the "Simmered chicken wings," "Chicken heart," and "Chicken liver" as they had a unique taste that I enjoyed. The master is handsome, and I really want to support him! ◆Assorted appetizers - Steamed egg custard - Fig with cream cheese and soy milk dressing - Chicken breast banbanji ◆Additional: Bonjiri with ponzu sauce Freshly grilled Bonjiri served on a bed of grated daikon radish! The Bonjiri was small-sized, making it easy to eat! By the way, a single Bonjiri skewer costs 352 yen. In terms of quantity, the Bonjiri with ponzu sauce felt like it contained the meat of two skewers. ◆Skewers - Black Satsuma chicken breast: Slightly rare in the middle! Moist and delicious! - Chicken tail: Juicy and delicious! Crispy skin! - Chicken breast, Chicken thigh, Chicken skin: The chicken thigh had a strong texture like muscle, which was tasty. The chicken skin was crispy like a snack! - Simmered chicken wings: I loved the soup! The chicken wings were tender! - Chicken heart: Amazing! A must-try! It had a bouncy texture and was juicy! ◆Soup Delicious and flavorful! ◆Additional skewers - Chicken neck: Delicious! It was juicy and tender! - Chicken skin: Crispy on the outside and melty on the inside! A new sensation in terms of texture! - Chicken liver: It was rare and melted in my mouth! I love raw meat and rare cooking, so I was very satisfied! ◆Additional dishes - Oyakodon: I was happy to eat it, as I already love chicken and egg rice bowls! - Soborodon: A delicious dish! I thoroughly enjoyed it! ◼️The restaurant has counter seating only, and the space is a bit narrow and dimly lit. ◼️Crowdedness It's usually full, so it's better to make a reservation! If you're dining alone, you might be okay if the timing is right. ◼️Customer Service The master was handsome! He was very friendly and made the experience enjoyable! ◼️Difficulty for a woman dining alone It might be challenging for a woman dining alone, but if she's used to dining out and eats elegantly, even as a woman, I would be impressed. I'd want to make her my disciple!
