Every time I eat Taiwanese cuisine, I can clearly feel the difference between Chinese cuisine and Taiwanese cuisine. In particular, the dish at Fuklin had a strong element of Chinese herbal medicine. The fragrant sauce on top of the boiled pork was gentle in flavor. Boiled peanuts and vegetables (forgot) were hidden underneath, giving a sense of overall well-being.

On Saturday afternoon, I visited the restaurant around 11:30 am because it gets full by 12 pm. I ordered yellow chives and scallop stir-fry, A lunch with shrimp tomato egg, B lunch with eggplant stir-fry, and also ordered two or three appetizers. For drinks, I had draft beer, Taiwanese beer, and a highball with barley shochu. I finished with Taiwanese-style cold noodles.

I visited during my lunch break. It's popular due to its close proximity to the station. On such a hot day, cold noodles were the only choice. It has a different taste from Japanese cold noodles, but it's delicious. The portion was generous and I ended up with a full stomach.

It's already over 35 degrees outside, but I felt like eating Fukurin's Taiwanese-style cold noodles, so I took my staff with me. The texture of the jellyfish on top is great, and when you add vinegar to the spicy sauce, it's refreshing and cool. I enjoyed a taste that you can't find in regular Chinese restaurants.

When I woke up in the morning, it was raining in Tokyo for the first time in a while. I had some work to do in Azabu-Juban in the morning, even though it's my usual day off. After finishing, it was 11:30. I remembered that the braised pork fried rice here was delicious. It's a Taiwanese restaurant. When I sat down, I couldn't help but notice the beef noodle set that the person next to me was having. It looked delicious. When it arrived, I took a sip of the spicy soup. The combination of spices and umami was really good. The noodles were flat and not bad. The meat had a fragrant star anise flavor, which was delicious. The fried rice was simple but the char siu had a nice spicy flavor. This place in Azabu-Juban is reasonably priced. The Taiwanese ramen that the lady next to me ordered also looked delicious! There were quite a few female customers as well. That's right, today is my day off. Let's head back. Thank you for the meal!

I must have been to this place a few times, but it just doesn't seem to agree with me. Last time, when I ordered Taiwanese beef noodle soup, they told me they were out of it and suggested the pork belly noodle soup instead, saying it was "pretty much the same." It's usually quite crowded during weekday lunch hours. I ordered the weekly special A or B set for 950 yen, which included stir-fried pork with green peppers. When it arrived, I was surprised. Isn't it normal for stir-fried pork with green peppers to have bean sprouts in it? Also, I think it was pork, not beef. I guess what I really wanted was a dish with thinly sliced beef and the bitterness of green peppers combined, rather than a stir-fry with bean sprouts and green peppers. By the way, there were no bamboo shoots in it. Well, I suppose it's just not a good match for me.

I visited for lunch. I assumed that Taiwanese ramen would be spicy, but when I ordered, a visually light ramen came out. However, it was delicious. The noodles were slightly thick and firm, with small pieces of braised pork on top. When I added the spicy sauce later, the taste changed and became delicious. The staff were very friendly and even said "Thank you" when I left, making me feel like I had visited Taiwan. I couldn't drink alcohol at lunch, but the Shaoxing wine and bottled beer looked delicious, so I want to go back at night next time.

"Fukurin" is a Taiwanese restaurant run by a family from Taiwan. They offer a variety of delicious dishes such as soy sauce marinated clams, famous karasumi, makomodake, Taiwanese bamboo shoots, and a hearty wonton soup with glass noodles. Their shrimp and lettuce fried rice is topped with large shrimp. The restaurant is located at 2-20-5 Azabu-Juban, Minato-ku, Tokyo. On the day of visit, there was no wait time and the dishes ordered were: Assorted Appetizers (1480 yen), Shrimp Mayonnaise (2500 yen), and Wonton Soup (850 yen).

The location of this restaurant, Tantan 4th Exit, is very convenient, just a minute's walk from the ground level. Despite being on the second floor, the prominent sign makes it easy to find. The menu is also easy to understand. The Tantan noodles and Lu Rou Fan are delicious. The Tantan noodles are mildly spicy with coarse ground meat, a subtle sesame flavor, and slightly thick noodles, creating a well-balanced and tasty dish. The Lu Rou Fan has a strong spice aroma that makes you want to keep eating. The lunchtime atmosphere is quiet and welcoming, with many solo diners. The staff are friendly, making it a place you'll want to visit again. If you're looking for Taiwanese cuisine in Azabu-Juban, this place comes highly recommended.

Located just a short walk from the entrance of Asakusa Shopping Street, on the 2nd floor of a building right next to the station, this affordable Taiwanese-style Chinese restaurant is in a prime location! I had seen it recommended as a lunch option a few times and was curious, so I decided to visit for dinner this time. In this type of restaurant, the flavors are often strong and cater to drinkers, but here, every dish had just the right amount of salt and was excellent. The owner, who runs the restaurant, provided friendly service that was neither too cold nor overly familiar, creating a comfortable dining experience!

Located very close to Mabashi-Juichome Station, there is a Taiwanese restaurant. I had been curious about their congee for a while, but I heard that their Sour Cabbage and Pork Noodle dish is authentic and delicious, so I decided to order it. The dish is called "sour cabbage and pork noodles" and is said to be a Taiwanese sour hotpot dish made with fermented cabbage and pork. When I slurped the soup, the acidity was beyond my expectations. It seemed like a stew of sour pickled cabbage and pork. The essence of the clams added to the soup also gave it a gentle touch. The greasiness of the pork seemed to have disappeared, making it refreshing to eat. This sourness is addictive. It's a taste that makes you want to eat it regularly.

Finally visited after more than 7 years since I first thought of going. It seems like they just reopened yesterday, as there were several regular customers. Dried tofu, pig's feet, vegetables and glass noodles with wonton soup, and dried radish omelette. The quality is high. The service is also polite, and I think it would be comfortable to become a regular customer. Satisfied.

This is a Taiwanese restaurant located right by Ichino Hashi, popular for serving comforting home-style dishes in small plates. It is situated on the second floor next to Bistro Cresta. The interior has a bit of a vintage feel, with the windows open, air conditioning on full blast, and local-style background music playing. When inquiring about the lunch set A for 950 yen tax included from the cute Taiwanese staff, today's menu was stir-fried bitter melon with pork. I found it unusual to have bitter melon in Taiwanese cuisine, so I immediately placed my order. The bitter melon arrived shortly, stir-fried with doubanjiang and chili pepper, giving it a slightly spicy Chinese flavor but still very gentle, typical of Taiwanese cuisine. I've only had bitter melon in Okinawan champuru or sliced salads before, so this was a nice change. The salad and pickles were ordinary, but the piping hot soup with egg, carrot, and daikon had a gentle and comforting taste. While enjoying my meal, I overheard another staff member explaining that today's set menu was bitter melon champuru. This made me wonder if it was indeed Taiwanese cuisine. I caught the attention of the first staff member and asked if bitter melon is also found in Taiwan. With a mischievous smile, she replied, "Hmm, no!" This playful response made me smile even more. It turns out that this bitter melon dish was a creative Taiwanese-style creation. Upon further research, I discovered that in Taiwan, they have a popular dish called "salted egg bitter melon" using white bitter melon.

Well, it was a shame that my usual mom wasn't there due to poor health when I came to give my New Year's greetings. I couldn't hide my sadness and sat down. But then a lively older sister recommended their freshly squeezed sour drink made with pink grapefruit, so I ordered that without hesitation. It came out all pink on top and really lifted my spirits! It seemed full of vitamins and good for the body too! While I was in the restroom, she also ordered for me without my knowledge a dried radish omelette and daikon mochi, which are always a safe bet. Personally, I enjoyed the pig trotters. Oink oink! The strong seasoning made the alcohol go down smoothly. The cluttered interior was tidied up so much that you could see the white walls, and the menu on the wall was also slightly organized. I noticed the "Shop's No.1 Popular Dish" advertised as Three Cup Chicken (¥1,400), which has garlic in it. When asked if I was okay with that, I said it's fine since I'll just go home and sleep afterwards. It turned out to be a delightful surprise! A hot pot full of garlic, ginger, and chicken chunks! With this volume and the heartwarming ingredients, it's no wonder everyone orders this dish at that price! Unintentionally forgetting that my body wasn't in top condition and that I had already consumed quite a bit of wine at the previous Italian restaurant, I finished it all... No regrets... The terrifying fake appetite before menstruation... (Oh, I shouldn't blame it on hormones, right? Haha) As a result, my digestion was overwhelmed and I felt cold all over my body. I hurried back home, didn't even take off my shoes, and just crawled into bed (laughs). Yes, the enthusiasm of the young older sister was still great, and it was a delicious and enjoyable time as always! Thank you for the meal! I'll visit regularly again!

I've been busy lately. It's good to have a lot of work, but it makes me tired and hungry. So, as usual, I went to Fukurin with our company mascot Kuma-chan for some overtime meal. We had stir-fried water spinach with yellow chives, stir-fried shrimp, sweet and sour pork, and pan-fried dumplings. Although the regular menu only has boiled dumplings, if you ask the owner, she will also make pan-fried dumplings for you. I was unexpectedly full, so I skipped the Taiwanese ramen and left. Thank you, owner, for the delicious meal as always.

Our company's mascot Kuma-chan has an event at Liquid Room in Ebisu starting from 9:30 PM. Before that, we stopped by Fukurin for a quick bite. As always, the motherly owner welcomed us with a warm smile. Thank you. - Stir-fried greens: "We use Kong Xin Cai during the summer," she said. Lots of garlic, but it's delicious. - Basil Eggplant: This version has basil, giving it a refreshing and light taste. The pork is diced, providing a nice texture and aroma. - Spicy Wonton: Spicy soup with plump wontons. The soup is not too heavy, and the wonton skin is thin and chewy. - Taiwanese Ramen: I was tempted by the Dan Dan noodles and Sour and Spicy noodles, but I went for the classic Taiwanese Ramen. It's not on the evening menu, but they can make it for you. Gotta get those carbs to keep my energy up for work later. I ended up having three glasses of beer with dinner. I hope I'll be okay. (laughs)

In Azabu-Juban, there are many Chinese restaurants. Among the high-end options, there's Fuhrihwa which offers a Shanghai crab course for 50,000 yen per person, and TORYU which boasts a 400 yen per dumpling. For more casual dining, there's Eishin which is reliable, and Shinko Hanten where you can enjoy Showa-era Chinese set meals. However, the most recommended for everyone would be Fukurin. This is a Taiwanese restaurant, and compared to other Taiwanese cuisines I know, it's quite easy to eat. It's a family-run place with a cozy atmosphere, especially thanks to the cheerful and friendly mother figure. Everything on the menu is delicious. For lunch today, I had the Taiwanese ramen (930 yen). Unlike the burnt scallions found in Shibuya's "Kira," Fukurin's Taiwanese ramen is topped with slightly fragrant braised pork cubes instead. It's delicious. The noodles are curly and medium-thick, absorbing the soup well while maintaining a smooth texture. I used to frequent this place but drifted away during the low-carb diet trend, and have recently returned. They used to play cable radio more often, but it seems they've stopped. Mother, that cable radio was quite nice. Can you play it again? I don't think there's another place where you can listen to Teresa Teng's "Let the Time Flow By" or "Airport in the Rain" while eating Taiwanese food.

Although I pride myself on having a taste for delicious food, it can be quite troublesome to dine with someone whose food preferences don't match mine. On this particular day, my dining companion refused to touch any of the dishes I enjoy, making the menu selection a potential source of conflict. As expected, they ordered the fluffy crab sauce tofu, a dish that I wouldn't normally choose but was actually quite tasty. The shrimp and pickled mustard greens stir-fry was surprisingly sweet and sour, which I found intriguing but others may find it underwhelming if they were expecting something spicier. The restaurant was busy with several groups of customers, so the takeout pork belly burger I ordered didn't live up to the previous experience. After finishing our meal, my companion insisted on going to another place for more sake, which resulted in the burger getting cold by the time we got home. I like the hearty and satisfying chumaki, and I would love to have it again. Overall, it was a satisfying meal, and I look forward to returning for more delicious dishes.

Late at night, the restaurant closes early and it's not open on Sundays, so you have to go when you can! This place is also one of my favorite restaurants, thanks in large part to the warm welcome from the familiar motherly figure. The chilled shrimp and cucumber dish is a must-order for me every time. The shrimp is plump and delicious, simple yet tasty! The clams and basil stir-fry is a bit on the salty side, but the basil is delicious. The eggplant and garlic stir-fry is also delicious! It goes well with drinks! The dried squid and celery stir-fry, recommended by the motherly figure, was a first for me and it was amazing! It's a must-try for drinkers! The century egg dish convinced a friend who didn't like century eggs to change their mind! It's still delicious, and my friend overcame their dislike! The mapo tofu was flavorful with just the right amount of Sichuan pepper. The turtle soup had plenty of meat and high-quality pork, a great deal for the price! The pork trotters were marinated in a sweet and savory soy sauce with star anise, a simple yet delicious dish. We finished it all without leaving a single bite! After a long day of drinking, we decided to take the braised pork belly burger to go, which was a great decision! The meat was plentiful and the seasoning and side dishes were perfect. The hint of sweetness from the steamed bun was also a hit! We devoured both burgers in no time! This restaurant in Azabu-Juban, a long-standing establishment and surprisingly a hidden gem, is a place I only want to recommend to those with discerning tastes!

After a long time, I went to a Taiwanese restaurant with my colleagues after work. The way they rate the food may have changed, but the restaurant itself remains a solid choice. We ordered stir-fried vegetables and beef with mushrooms in oyster sauce. We also requested tea, which was served in a teapot and tasted delicious. We then ordered dim sum and finished with fried vermicelli, which were both quickly devoured due to their small portions. If you have a large group, you may need to order more variety to feel satisfied, but for two people, it was no problem. It was a great meal. We will definitely visit again, thank you, landlady.
