Maruichi 2023/7 Oimori, a long-established tonkatsu restaurant located in Oimori, just a 2-minute walk from JR Oimori Station. The opening hours are 11:30-13:30 and 17:00-19:00, closed on Wednesdays, Sundays, and holidays. The interior of the restaurant has a slightly old-fashioned Japanese style with an L-shaped counter for 5 seats and 2 shared tables for 4 people. On the counter, there are various condiments available such as soy sauce, original spicy sauce, original sweet sauce, wasabi, Hin Giya salt, Nan no Kiwami salt, Andes red salt, chili sauce, habanero, shichimi togarashi, disinfectant alcohol, cups, and a thermos-like cold water pot. The background music is from FM Yokohama. The restaurant is non-smoking with a shared restroom outside. I visited on a weekday at 11:30, and it was already almost full, with about 8 people waiting in line by 11:50. There is a note saying "Please help us reduce food waste." I ordered the small tonkatsu set. The pork loin meat was tender with a sweet fat content, slightly rare in terms of frying. The coating was crispy as if freshly fried. It was quite delicious, although the portion was small. It came with a large amount of shredded cabbage, parsley, and a lemon wedge. The pickles included 2 slices of daikon pickles and 2 slices of cucumber pickles, which were average in taste. The miso soup was flavorful with ingredients like carrots, onions, and pork. The rice was of good quality, cooked firm, and the portion was decent. I left the restaurant feeling full and satisfied. Definitely a popular spot with delicious food. I would like to try the small hirekatsu set next time, and the pork loin cutlet set and shrimp fry set also caught my eye.
