I visited the restaurant for lunch on Sunday at 12:30, after a long time. I waited in line for about 15 minutes before being able to enter. I chose the "Suzunami Set Meal" (1540 yen tax included), which is the most simple and reasonable option on the menu, just like my last visit. The fish of the day was "sawara." The sawara marinated in sake lees had a rich umami and sweetness that paired perfectly with the white rice. The red miso soup with a rich flavor also complemented the meal well, and the dessert of simmered beans added to the overall satisfaction of the set meal. The classic crushed ice drink with plum vinegar was also available and refreshing.

I went to lunch with a friend before watching a play. I had been curious about this restaurant for a while, but I felt a bit hesitant to go alone. However, there were quite a few people dining alone, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Suzunami set meal, and the fish of the day was silver salmon. As soon as I took a bite, the silver salmon melted in my mouth - it was incredibly delicious! The pickles, which I usually don't like, were also surprisingly tasty, and I ended up finishing everything on my plate. The black beans were also incredibly delicious! This restaurant has now become part of my pre-theater lunch repertoire.

I arrived at the restaurant at 11:45 on Saturday and was able to enter without waiting. I ordered the silver cod set meal for 2090 yen. The silver cod, which is one of Suzunami's specialties, was delicious with its miso marinade bursting with flavor. The fatty texture of the silver cod paired perfectly with the sweetness of the mirin. The fish was soft and fluffy, and the rice had a wonderful aroma and tasted delicious. The pickles had just the right amount of saltiness and were tasty. Additionally, the simmered hijiki seaweed and red miso soup added a nice touch to the traditional Japanese meal. If you're craving fish, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

The reviewer ordered the Tororo Gozen but changed it to Gindara for an additional 440 yen, and also changed the rice to five-grain rice for an extra 55 yen. They found both the five-grain rice and white rice to be average. The miso soup was too salty with red miso. The Gindara was too salty and had a strong smell of lees. They thought about getting more white rice but decided against it due to the overall saltiness of the meal. It was their first time visiting the restaurant and they do not plan to go back. They also mentioned a nearby restaurant, Sugimoto, which they found to be too sweet and salty. It's rare to find a disappointing restaurant in Midtown, especially when other places have long lines. These two restaurants did not have long lines, which may explain the quality of the food.

Since Midtown opened, I have been visiting this restaurant many times. There is always a line, so I end up waiting to eat. The restaurant can only accommodate about 20 people. They also sell fish in front of the store, so on Wednesday mornings, I sometimes buy offcuts. However, I still prefer eating inside the restaurant. I always order the silver cod set meal, although the white flatfish is also delicious. Silver cod is my favorite. The price has increased a bit since before the pandemic, now at 2090 yen. I highly recommend trying the silver cod. Next to the silver cod, there is pickled ginger in sweet vinegar. The white rice can be changed to 16-grain rice. Today, I had yuzu vinegar juice after the meal. Thank you for the meal!

Arrived at 11:40 on Sunday, as the 4th group in line. Alright, feeling lucky. This wait is tolerable. There are 6 waiting chairs available. Waited for 15 minutes and entered the restaurant. It has a cafeteria-like atmosphere, but the staff provide efficient and calming service. Today's special fish is "silver salmon" and for set meals, you can also choose a different grilled fish for an additional charge. - Grilled Silver Cod Set Meal: $20.90 - I love silver cod, and this dish definitely shows why. The rich flavor is intoxicating. If a wife can make a lunch like this, I wouldn't mind getting married. Oh, wait, I'm a woman too, haha. Truly a great pickled vegetable shop. The pickled vegetables as a side dish are delicious. The black beans, cooked soft and fluffy, are also tasty. Yes, definitely worth the wait. This meal gives me the energy to keep going strong from tomorrow onwards.

I visited the "Suzunami Tokyo Midtown Store" located in the Galleria on the basement floor of Tokyo Midtown shortly after 5 pm on a weekday in August 2023. I decided to dine at the restaurant attached to the store. The cozy interior had about 5 or 6 other customers. I sat at a table alone and ordered the "Suzunami set meal" for ¥1,650. The grilled fish of the day was "white hirasu." After a 10-minute wait, my meal was served. The main dish was the grilled white hirasu marinated in miso, served with pickled ginger. It was accompanied by simmered black soybeans, simmered hijiki seaweed, rice, red miso soup, and pickles. I started with the hijiki seaweed, which was perfectly seasoned and delicious. The white hirasu marinated in miso was juicy and flavorful, with tender flesh and a perfect balance of miso flavor. The quality of the fish was evident. The simmered black soybeans were sweet and had a great texture, showing the skill of the chef. The pickles and red miso soup added depth to the meal, and the Nara pickles complemented the white hirasu well. To cleanse the palate, I was served "yuzu kasu vinegar" as a drink towards the end of the meal, enjoying its pleasant acidity and sweetness. Although the set meal was slightly pricey, it was worth it for the high-quality grilled fish and delicious Japanese meal. Whenever I crave tasty marinated fish, I would definitely consider visiting "Suzunami."

I visited for lunch on a regular day and ordered the Suzunami set meal. Today's fish was Minamikagokamasu, which was delicious with just the right amount of fat. The service was okay. The cost performance is not great, but the fish was really delicious, so I would like to visit again.

This is my third visit. There is a section in the basement of Shinjuku Isetan, and sometimes I bake at home, but the ones baked in the store have a different taste after all...! This time, I had the Suzunami set meal for 1,650 yen. Today's fish was "Minamikagokamasu". I tried it for the first time, but it has a similar texture and flavor to hirasu. It was very delicious with just the right amount of oil. The other pickles and simmered dishes were also irresistibly delicious. The palate cleanser after the meal was lemon vinegar. Personally, I think it has a good cost performance when considering the taste.

I had some business in Roppongi and decided to stop by Midtown for lunch. I stumbled upon a ridiculously delicious fish set meal restaurant! The grilled salmon was amazing, but the rice, minced chicken, and simmered chicken wings were all delicious too! And they even served a lemon vinegar for palate cleansing, how amazing! I tried the Nagoya Gozen which was a bit pricey, but the Suzunami set meal is around 1600 yen and seems like a good deal! I will definitely go back!

I had the grilled saikyo-style sea bream and it was delicious with the fish being firm and tasty. The price is a bit high, starting from 1680 yen, but the location inside Midtown is convenient and the fish is really good, so I recommend it. By the way, you can have unlimited refills of rice.

I felt like eating Japanese food in Roppongi, so I visited this fish specialty restaurant. They had a display of neatly arranged sliced fish in front of the store. I lined up while looking at them and entered the restaurant after about 15 minutes. The fish, as well as the side dishes and miso soup, were carefully prepared and delicious. It was also nice that you could have unlimited refills of Niigata-produced Koshihikari rice.

I often visit this restaurant for lunch on weekdays because it's close to my workplace. Even though I'm not a fan of fish, the fish here is so delicious that I can even eat the skin. Today's fish was Karei (flounder). I ordered the Suzunami set meal. The side dish was simmered dried daikon radish, which was tasty with a mild flavor. The red miso soup was also very delicious. This is a restaurant that I keep coming back to.

I waited for about 10 minutes in a full house. I had the grilled fish set meal with mirin lees, and today's fish was "kamasu" (barracuda). The fish had a mild sake flavor, which I enjoyed more than the sweet miso marinade. I upgraded to multigrain rice for an additional 55 yen (tax included), and the meal came with a hearty red miso soup and plenty of pickles. The meal ended with plum vinegar, which was lightly sweet and refreshing, perfect for a soda mix in the summer.

It was a delicious marinated silver cod and barracuda (a type of fish) at the end of the Louvre exhibition! I went after the exhibition. I was surprised at how tasty the barracuda, which I had seen while diving, could be! It's a 6 out of 10 for the silver cod, so if you see it, definitely try it!

Before going to the National Art Center, I had lunch. Not only the fish, but all the small dishes were delicious and I ended up eating too much. The ponzu and the vinegar to drink after the meal were also delicious. I bought lemon vinegar as a souvenir! The service was quick and I am very satisfied. I will visit again.

Ordered the maguro donburi set with silver salmon as the fish of the day, priced at 2090 yen. Both the main fish and the toppings like pickled radish and black beans were very delicious. A great place to enjoy a casual fish set meal in the Roppongi area.

Suntory Museum lunch. After looking around the restaurants in Midtown, we decided to come back to this reliable place. We had to wait for about 5 minutes because there were 6 people in line, but the turnover is good here. The floor staff are all hard workers. I was torn between the cod set meal and the Suzunami set meal, but I decided on the Suzunami set meal because it featured Karei (flounder) that day. As always, the grilled fish was beautifully cooked. It's not as tender as cod, but it's moist and crispy, and delicious! The rice was glossy and fluffy. The lightly sweetened simmered beans were a nice palate cleanser. While waiting, I noticed something from looking at the menu photos outside - the rice bowl was placed on the left back side. Is this a western custom? I thought that in Japan, the rice bowl is placed on the left front side. I've seen this before in Kyoto (Suzunami's main store is in Nagoya). In Tokyo, the rice bowl is usually on the front left. I always thought that the placement of the rice bowl was a standard in Japanese cuisine, but it seems it varies. It makes sense to have the rice bowl closer to the side where you pick up the food since you hold the rice bowl in your hand. Long-standing customs are not easily changed.

I had the Suzunami set meal. The fish of the day was Spanish mackerel. It was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, very delicious. It paired perfectly with the white rice. The red miso soup, simmered hijiki seaweed, and pickles were also tasty. It was a great lunch. The cold plum vinegar served after the meal was also good.
