I think it's been a while since I last went to a bar. I visited Oden Otsuki on March 11th (Friday) after 5 pm. I was recommended this place a while ago by Jigen ACE. I wanted to go right away, but due to COVID, I finally made it happen. (Business hours from March 7th to 21st, 2022) Open three days a week on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Operating hours are from 5 pm to 9 pm. They have been closed for a while, but they reopened this week on Monday (March 7th) on a three-day schedule. I added it to my list of delicious oden places in Tokyo and Chiba. Of course, I mainly had oden. I started with potato, beef tendon, grilled radish skewer, and liver with sauce (2 pieces). I ended with konjac, ganko (deep-fried tofu), and egg. I had a Super Dry beer in a medium bottle and one hot sake. The potato was probably a May Queen variety, but it felt like the first time I was eating it in oden. It was delicious. The types of potatoes were easy to understand on the Calbee website. The oden broth had a strong soy sauce flavor and was delicious. It seemed salty, so I didn't drink it. The liver with sauce was also delicious, and I was full. Just when I thought that, they asked if I would like some, and a small serving of curry rice appeared. This was a first-time experience for me. I enjoyed it. It had been a while since I had curry rice.

Located in the middle of Ueno, Akihabara, Asakusabashi, Kuramae, and Shingo-Okachimachi, Oden Otsuki is a cozy izakaya that has been in business for over 30 years. They specialize in authentic Tokyo-style oden, along with a variety of izakaya dishes. The oden pot is filled with a delicious assortment of oden ingredients waiting to be enjoyed. The bright Japanese-style interior features an L-shaped counter and three sunken kotatsu tables. Menu highlights include oden daikon radish, egg, fish balls, ganmo (tofu fritters), and chikuwa (fish cake). They also offer oden yakidofu (grilled tofu), hanpen (fish cake), potatoes, and shirataki noodles. For drinks, they serve Tengu Mai honjozo warm sake (350 yen) and bottled beer (600 yen). The oden is simmered in a rich soy sauce-based broth, with each ingredient absorbing the flavors beautifully. The total bill for food and drinks came to 3,100 yen. While the prices for oden are not listed separately, they seem to be around 200 yen per item, which is quite affordable. Although they had temporarily closed due to the pandemic, they have recently reopened for business. During my visit, the sunken tables were occupied by three lively groups enjoying themselves. The staff, mostly friendly ladies, were attentive and efficient. Their sales pitch for trying other dishes besides oden was quite persuasive. Overall, Oden Otsuki is a great spot to enjoy delicious oden and other izakaya fare at reasonable prices.

In the second year of Reiwa, I went to a long-awaited oden restaurant in Otsuki for a friend's birthday party. The mom of my friend was as beautiful and lively as ever, which was great to see. It was payday on the 25th, so the restaurant was bustling and busy. Luckily, there were two seats available by chance, and we were seated right away. Thank you for the wonderful birthday party. I would love to visit again sometime. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I went together with a friend to their favorite spot. Besides the oden, everything else we ate was delicious. It seemed very popular as the seats were always full! I would love to go again, but it seemed like there were many regular customers, so I feel hesitant. #Long-standing oden shop #Many regular customers #Oasis for salarymen #Attentive service #Relaxing atmosphere #Lively and bustling atmosphere #Satisfying business people's stomachs #Tatami seating available #Counter seating available #Scheduled post

In the back alleys of Shin-Okachimachi stands a thriving oden shop. As the cold season approaches, the craving for oden kicks in. They serve a rich Tokyo-style oden with a strong broth. The yakitori and liver dishes are also popular. Personally, I love the salted radish. The asparagus with mentaiko sauce and rolled cabbage are also top choices. The homemade rice balls by the mama are delicious. But above all, the mama's hospitality is fantastic. It's always crowded, so it's best to make a reservation before going.

Oden was delicious. Everything else was also delicious. And it was cheap. A hidden gem loved by locals.

The soft Kansai-style dashi in the oden is excellent. Especially the beef tendon is soft and delicious! The customer service at the restaurant is also pleasant!

I won't revisit this place. The chef was smoking while cooking.

H27 revisit I went to "Daigetsu" in Taito-ku with a senior colleague. This restaurant is a favorite of mine where everything is delicious, and the care of the landlady is top-notch. We enjoyed a tasty draft beer for 550 yen before indulging in their special Oden prepared with a special dipping sauce. The "Hanpen" was something I hadn't seen in Kansai, but it was delicious. The "Crab Miso with Plenty of Meat" for 700 yen, wrapped in seaweed, was excellent, especially with the cucumber enhancing the aftertaste. The "New Potato and Chicken Wings Stew" for 700 yen was incredibly delicious with the flavor of the chicken wings seeping into the new potatoes. The "Conger Eel Tempura" for 700 yen was prepared fresh after we ordered, adding to the excitement of the meal. Of course, the seasonal tempura was outstandingly delicious. The counter was lined with seasonal ingredients, and enjoying delicious dishes while sipping on sweet potato shochu was pure bliss. Despite being a bit far from the station, the restaurant was always bustling with many customers. It's a place that can help you get through the hot summer. H27 visit Located in a discreet street between Torikoshi and Okachimachi in Taito-ku, my favorite restaurant "Daigetsu" is still the best. Starting with a toast with a 550 yen draft beer and some appetizers, we ordered Oden to start. While all the Oden dishes ordered by my senior colleagues looked delicious, my favorite is the "Ganmo" with its amazing seasoning that brings out the flavor of the ingredients. The "Special Daigetsu Salad" for 800 yen, topped with prosciutto, grapefruit, and crab, was delicious. Every dish at Daigetsu is delicious. The "Premium Horse Sashimi" for 800 yen and the "Grilled Large Clams" for 370 yen were also delightful. We enjoyed a bottle of sweet potato shochu "Satsuma no Umi" for 6000 yen to unwind after work and had a great time drinking and chatting with everyone. The "Fried Oysters" for 750 yen were exquisite. The "Dried Whole Tsubodai Fish" for 650 yen had the excess moisture removed, intensifying the flavor. The "Fried Chicken" was coated with sakura shrimp before being fried, and it was truly delicious. I want to go with a friend who shares my taste preferences to Daigetsu in Okinawa. Daigetsu, where the elegant landlady's smile reaches every corner of the restaurant, was still a great place to visit after a long time. Thank you to the landlady, the master, and the staff for the wonderful meal.

I found a hidden gem of an oden restaurant between TX Shin-Okachimachi Station and Hibiya Line Naka-Okachimachi Station. The restaurant offers Kansai-style oden with my favorite egg and hanpen, as well as delicious grilled foods like yakitori skewers. They also have a wide selection of Japanese sake. The service is excellent, and they even give you a hot towel when you go to the restroom. It's a cozy spot in a quiet neighborhood, perfect for a casual meal, so I hope it doesn't get too noisy with big parties.

Hidden Gem: Past Photos Revealed I was taken to this restaurant by a very important customer, and I was amazed by how delicious the food was. It's a very ordinary restaurant located in the business district of Ueno, but the food was surprisingly good. I had been disappointed by other oden restaurants before, but this one completely changed my mind. The sake they served was also delicious, perfect for those who appreciate good sake. The beef tendon and hanpen daikon, as well as the egg and potatoes, were miraculously delicious. The side dishes were so good that they felt like main dishes. The seasonal bamboo shoot yakitori with sesame mayo, asparagus with butter, and liver skewers were all amazing. The omelette with demi-glace sauce was another favorite of mine. Everything had an extra touch that made it stand out. I had a stubborn cold at the time and couldn't stop my runny nose, but the waitress brought out a makeshift trash can made from a flyer for me. I was touched by this thoughtful service. Overall, this place was a real find and I highly recommend it.

The shop is quietly located in a back alley with hardly any foot traffic, creating a serene atmosphere. Inside, it is packed with nearby office workers. Luckily, a seat opened up at the counter, where the friendly owner and his beautiful wife were managing the place. The shop has an old-fashioned atmosphere reminiscent of an oden restaurant. I decided to order the assorted oden, which is the Kanto style. It included daikon radish, hanpen (fish cake), egg, thick fried tofu, ganmo (tofu fritter), konbu (kelp), and shirataki noodles. They also provided a small dish of oden broth, which was a nice touch. As for the taste, it was delicious. The balance of dashi, soy sauce, and sugar was perfect, and the eggs were cooked just right. The hanpen was fluffy and light. In addition to oden, they also offer a variety of other dishes such as raw liver, raw horse meat, octopus tempura, and tuna tempura. The atmosphere of the shop is like a traditional Japanese pub, yet the prices are surprisingly reasonable. I wish there was a place like this in my neighborhood.
