A Japanese restaurant where you can drink sake from lunchtime. This time, I didn't order any alcohol, but instead got the sashimi and tempura set meal. The tempura was crispy and delicious. If you make a reservation, you'll be guided to a window seat with a beautiful view, so I recommend it.

I was looking for a calm place where I could have a conversation, and I ended up at this restaurant. Located on the restaurant floor of Tobu Department Store in Ikebukuro, SPICE, the higher the floor (from the 11th to the 15th), the higher the prices and the tendency for it to be less crowded. For a weekend lunch where you can enjoy a conversation without too much noise, the 14th or 15th floor restaurants are good options. As expected, this restaurant wasn't too noisy even on the weekend. Just as I had hoped. I ordered the "Gokezouzen set for 2450 yen." The vinegar dish had mozuku seaweed with shrimp on top. Hmm, I felt like it needed a little more something special. The sashimi included tuna and a bit of sea bream. The tuna was slightly dry and lacked freshness. The grilled fish was Spanish mackerel, which was quite delicious. However, the simmered dish was ordinary. The tempura was crispy and tasty. Overall, the meal was decent but not exceptional (especially the vinegar dish with mozuku seaweed and sashimi could use some more creativity). Despite that, we were seated at a 4-person table even though there were only 2 of us, allowing us to have a calm conversation. Considering the location in Ikebukuro Station's department store, I think the overall experience was satisfactory. Thank you for the meal!

Otsu and his wife decided to have dinner in Ikebukuro. His wife recommended a restaurant called Mikagekura on the 14th floor of Tobu Department Store. Otsu made a reservation through Tabelog for the seasonal kaiseki course, which includes 6 dishes for 3,300 yen. They arrived early and were seated by the window with a view of Ikebukuro Station and Seibu Department Store. Otsu ordered Asahi Super Dry beer and later a premium sake. The seasonal kaiseki course included dishes like sesame tofu with salmon roe, sashimi platter, grilled salmon, cold simmered dish, clam rice, and citrus sorbet. The portions were small but the food was delicious. The total bill for two was 8,330 yen. Otsu thought the meal was satisfying but wished the portions were a bit larger. The restaurant also offers set menus under 3,000 yen. Overall, Otsu had a good dining experience at Mikagekura in Ikebukuro.

Three adults and a 2-year-old child made a reservation. Only adult-sized towels and tea were provided, which was disappointing. It would have been nice if they had confirmed the number of children when we arrived. The kids' meal was over 2000 yen, which seemed expensive. There was only one option for children on the menu. It would have been better if there were a few choices around 1000 yen each, like udon, soba, or chawanmushi available separately. We ended up sharing a seasonal set meal for about 3000 yen with the child. It looked nice, but the portion was small. There was not much rice, just enough for the child. It seemed like less than half a cup. Even if one person ate it alone, they probably wouldn't feel full. The miso soup came in a strangely large bowl and was difficult to drink. The flavor was strong. It was a hot summer day, and we were thirsty, but we had to call for a refill of tea. The restaurant was not busy, but they didn't do anything unless we called for them. For a traditional Japanese restaurant, I expected a bit more attention to detail and hospitality from the staff. None of the staff had a smile, and it felt like they were just going through the motions. Despite being on the 14th floor, the view was blocked by closed curtains, and we didn't get a window seat despite making a reservation. I don't think I'll be coming back here again.

I reserved a semi-private room at Gokouzou on the 14th floor of Tobu Department Store in Ikebukuro for a client dinner. The view from the seat was amazing, overlooking Ikebukuro. The kaiseki cuisine was delicious and the staff were all fantastic. The location is convenient being directly connected to Ikebukuro Station. The restaurant closes at 10pm, making it easy to plan for a timely finish. Dining at Tobu is always a top-notch experience in Ikebukuro!

I had lunch! It was delicious! It seemed to be a summer limited edition... The eel, roast beef, fish, and even the dessert were all delicious! The atmosphere of the cozy restaurant and the moderate distance between tables made it comfortable. The staff who served us were also very friendly. Thank you! I entered the restaurant during lunchtime (the floor below was very crowded, but the 14th floor was relatively empty) and ordered the Shinshu soba and nigiri sushi set. The tempura was crispy, and it paired well with the soba. The sushi was small and easy to eat. The set also came with a bite-sized matcha mochi. I was full and satisfied.

Time has passed so I'll keep it short (as of 6/14). The sashimi set meal is 2500 yen, with dessert. There was too little soy sauce. I heard you could ask for more, but it seemed like a hassle so I left it as it was. I wish they had at least left some on the table... The sashimi was okay. But to be honest, it didn't have that "wow!" factor like at Sakura Sushi, so for 2500 yen, I'm not sure if I would visit again. The white rice was delicious.

I ordered the Mini Donburi Assortment with 9 different kinds of small dishes at Gokuraku Sake Brewery for the first time in a while. It came with Kikumasamune sake lees soup and tea pickles, making it difficult to decide how to eat it. The assortment included salmon roe, roast beef, miso-marinated mackerel, simmered conger eel tempura, tuna, chicken tempura, eel and tamagoyaki from Hamanako, kettle-fried whitebait with quail eggs, and squid and mentaiko tea pickled rice. It was very delicious to enjoy a little bit of everything. There were so many choices that I was unsure where to start, but I didn't end up eating too much, so it was just right! Thank you for the meal.

The warm spring weather on this Tuesday made me leave my coat at home. I had made plans to meet my brother in the evening after work, and he chose the meeting spot to be inside Tobu Department Store in Ikebukuro, at a restaurant called "SPICE." It was a coincidence that we ended up back in the same building where we had lunch earlier that day. We had a great time catching up over drinks and food. The menu at the restaurant changes daily, and on this day, we enjoyed delicious dishes like a sashimi platter, seared fish fin, and rolled omelette. We also ordered a variety of drinks, including Sapporo beer, a sake tasting set, and highball cocktails. The restaurant focuses on Japanese sake and cuisine, with a wide selection of sake directly sourced from Kikumasamune brewery. However, they also offer other types of alcohol, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all guests. It was a delightful experience with tasty food and drinks. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Everything was fresh and delicious, made with healthy ingredients! The steamed vegetables were so good that I wanted seconds! The window-side table had a great view, and I was surprised to find a restaurant like this in Tobu Ikebukuro. Thank you for the meal.

Located on the 14th floor of Tobu Ikebukuro, this Japanese restaurant offers delicious dishes such as grilled salted yellowtail, dashimaki tamago (rolled omelette), and fried burdock. All three dishes were tasty, especially the dashimaki tamago which was surprisingly large and fluffy with a gentle flavor. The fried burdock was addictive and the grilled yellowtail is highly recommended (I forgot to take a photo, so sad). I also enjoyed a glass of sake served in a wine glass, which was easy to understand even for beginners.

We gathered as a family for my sister's birthday. I intended to take photos of the dishes, but only managed to capture the first two... I completely forgot to take pictures of the rest (T ^ T). The food went well with Nada's renowned sake, Kikumasamune, but I can't introduce them, which is truly regrettable... I will definitely visit again! Thank you for the feast!

I thought it might be okay to ask again. The simmered flounder was cooked very well and I was impressed. The seasoning was also well-balanced and elegantly finished, it was delicious. I was curious about the avocado in Nishikyo-zuke and the miso-marinated chicken tempura, so I ordered them, but they didn't leave a distinctive impression. Of course, the taste was good. The horse sashimi, priced at 2200 yen, was not outstanding in terms of portion size or taste. The sashimi platter with 5 types of sashimi for 3100 yen was worth it. Especially the medium fatty tuna had a perfect balance of umami and acidity, it was delicious. There was no long wait for customers, so it was good that we could enter smoothly. It seems convenient to eat at Tobu Ikebukuro. Thank you for the meal.

Ikebukuro's night view and a restaurant where you can see Tokyo Tower in the distance! It was quite refreshing to see the night view of Ikebukuro! We entered the restaurant while waiting for Triton. We ordered draft beer, a sashimi platter with three types of fish, ginkgo nuts, rolled omelette, and simmered flounder. The sashimi was quite delicious. The simmered flounder was also tasty. The rolled omelette, recommended by the restaurant, was a bit disappointing as it was firm and lacked the juicy flavor. We also ordered white oden and seared spicy cod roe, but I forgot to take a photo. The white oden had a taste similar to miso soup, which was different but delicious. The seared spicy cod roe and ginkgo nuts were perfect as snacks with alcohol.

Late lunch on Saturday at a restaurant that specializes in Nada's famous sake, Kikumasamune. I decided to order the "Sakagura Gozen" set meal, which seemed perfect for enjoying with sake. Since I had some errands to attend to later, I opted for a non-alcoholic drink while waiting for the food to arrive. Soon enough, the food was brought to the table. The round basket was filled with delicacies, sashimi, and various side dishes, including sakekasu-flavored oden, pork tempura, tamagoyaki, mozuku vinegar, kikuzake, and freshly pickled vegetables. The soup was a miso soup made with Kikumasamune sakekasu. However, after a few bites, I couldn't resist and ended up ordering a glass of Kikumasamune Nada's Junmai sake to go with the meal. It was a reminder of how enjoyable the meal can be with sake. With the sake, the food disappeared quickly, and I found myself wanting to visit again next time with the intention of enjoying sake. It's been a while since I visited this place on the 14th floor of Tobu Department Store. This is a store directly operated by Kikumasamune Brewery, but there is no pressure to drink sake, so even non-drinkers can come here with peace of mind (laughs). Last time, I also did a sake tasting, but this time I wasn't in the mood for sake, so I just had two beers and called it a day. This shop has a lot of appetizers that go well with sake even on the à la carte menu, but when you're alone, it's hard to order a variety of dishes. I think many people feel that way, but the recommended point of this shop is that there are several set meal menus where you can enjoy a variety of dishes even when dining alone. I highly recommend the "Taste Sake Brewery Set Meal" that I had last time, it was very impressive. And this time, I ordered the "Summer Pilgrimage Appetizer Set Meal" which was listed as this month's recommendation on the menu. I have high hopes. Along with a draft beer, kamaboko and wasabi pickles were brought to the table, and the wasabi pickles were really delicious. The beer here is also surprisingly delicious. (It was Sapporo Black Label). The set meal came with a basket filled with 10 small side dishes. It also came with miso soup. Especially delicious dishes included: "Awaji onion and white meat breadcrumbs" - the sweetness of the onion stands out, the minced meat is soft, and the coating has a rough texture. "Sawara in Saikyo Yaki" - the plump and thick flesh is thoroughly soaked in Saikyo miso. Delicious! "Duck Chubu-ni" - the light soy sauce-based broth with a strong dashi flavor is delicious! The duck was a bit tough at first, but the taste was good. The more you chew, the more umami comes out. "Corn tofu" - small but with a strong sweetness of corn, very delicious! "Eggplant and awa-fu Tadaku" - the not too sweet miso is delicious. The awa-fu is chewy. Makes you want more. "Eel's steamed rice" - the eel is small but delicious enough! The scent of the wooden box and bamboo leaves subtly transfer to the rice, creating a nice flavor. I really wanted to relax with sake. All the table seats are for 4 people or more, so it's nice that even solo diners can relax. However, on this day, I realized I was the only one there and felt a bit unsettled, so I couldn't really relax with sake (^_^;) Due to the influence of the coronavirus, it seems to be quiet lately, and the staff were lamenting about it (;_;) Once the customers return, I also want to enjoy a sashimi set meal and sake slowly (^^)

The main dish, "Summer Sushi, Appetizers, and Set Meal," features Ishikawa's local dish "Honkamo no Jibuni" at the center of a round tray, surrounded by various side dishes. Each dish, including the grilled fish and vegetable tempura, is flavorful and satisfying. The additional dish of Oita's local specialty, "Chicken Tempura," showcases a refined and elegant flavor profile. The "Anago Pressed Sushi" is soft and delicious, offering a pleasant dining experience overall. The attentive and quiet service from the staff, along with the view of Ikebukuro Station and the surrounding area from the window seats, adds to the enjoyment of the meal. In early July 2022, I revisited the hospital in Itabashi for my monthly check-up. Afterwards, I had a solo lunch at the restaurant floor on the 14th floor of Tobu Ikebukuro. In the past, I didn't feel like having a solo lunch after visiting the hospital, so I hadn't gone for a few months. I realized that I visit a total of 8 hospitals regularly, either monthly or every few months. I take a lot of medication every day. I no longer have materialistic or sensual desires, only my appetite remains. However, I can't eat as much as before. On this day, I arrived just after the restaurant opened in the afternoon around 11 o'clock. There was one other customer in the room. I ordered the 3200 yen "Domestic Black Wagyu Sirloin Set Meal." It came with salad, small dishes, white rice, miso soup, and a dessert. I could see the cityscape of Ikebukuro from my window seat. When the dish arrived, I was disappointed by the small amount of meat - only 6 slices. But when I tasted it, I realized that the quality was different from cheaper meat. It was delicious. In the end, I felt full after finishing the meal. This amount of food may be just right for me now.
