Located along the extension of Akabane LALA Garden, about a 10-minute walk from Akabane Station. Around 18:30 on a weekday, there were about 6 customers already seated and 7 more arrived later. The majority of customers seemed to be families from the neighborhood. I ordered the Lu Rou Fan (braised pork rice) for 1,078 yen, which came with a thick Chinese soup with eggs and tofu, although it was quite lukewarm. The soup seemed to be a recent trend of serving it lukewarm. As for the Lu Rou Fan, it consisted of pork belly, greens, and a boiled egg, with a rich soy sauce flavor that paired well with the rice. The egg was flavorful and had a crispy texture on the outside, which was a pleasant surprise. The greens provided a nice contrast to the rich flavors. Although I initially thought it was 980 yen, it turned out to be over 1,000 yen after tax, making it a bit expensive as a standalone dish. I couldn't quite understand why it was popular among families.

I visited alone and tried the secret menu item, the red grilled pork. The pork belly with skin melted in my mouth and was incredibly delicious. I couldn't stop eating rice! In the end, I had three bowls and was full.

This is my first time writing a review, but it's my second visit to this restaurant. By the way, this place used to be a Chinese restaurant before, and I've been there too. I came here this time because I was nearby for work. It's been about 3 or 4 years since they opened, which made me feel nostalgic. They have menus displayed outside, which is nice and easy to understand (although this led to a bit of confusion later on...). Just like before, the "value set" here is really worth it and delicious. I always decide on it before entering the restaurant. Value Set: $10.80 to $12.80 Comes with appetizers, small dishes, and a beer - a golden pentagon deal! You can choose from 8 appetizers, like "green onion and char siu salad," and 6 small dishes, like "garlic chive and liver." When you pair it with a beer... mmm, it's perfect for drinking. The crispy texture of the green onions and the pungent flavor, combined with the char siu, make it a great snack with alcohol. The garlic chive and liver dish is a perfect combination of crunchy bean sprouts and flavorful liver. Both go well with beer and are delicious. I think it was really good. You might even want some rice to go with it (lol). There was a sign outside saying "Value Set $9.80," but when the total bill is over $20, the price changes to $10.80, and if it's under $20, it's $12.80... I was a bit surprised when they told me the price at the counter. It's a bit misleading to have different prices like that. A $3 difference can change your impression, so it left me feeling a bit uneasy... However, as a local Chinese restaurant, it seems like a place I could occasionally visit. The taste was quite to my liking, so I was relieved!

Today, I had a late lunch so I decided to have a light dinner with some Taiwanese small dishes. I remembered a restaurant I had passed by before, so I decided to check it out. When I looked at the menu, I found a great deal on a drinking set. It included beer, appetizers, and small dishes all in one set. The selection of alcohol, appetizers, and small dishes was quite extensive, allowing you to choose your favorites. However, it was limited to one set per person. I chose a medium-sized draft beer, a dried tofu salad for my appetizer, and stir-fried wood ear mushrooms and eggs for my small dish. The dried tofu salad reminded me of a famous dumpling restaurant in Taipei's trendy Yongkang Street, Din Tai Fung, where I first tried it as a beer snack. I always order it whenever I see it on the menu because it was so delicious. It's a generous portion and healthy since it's made with tofu. The stir-fried wood ear mushrooms and eggs were full of vegetables and pork, making it a satisfying dish for one person. The fluffy eggs were perfectly cooked. After two draft beers and two dishes, I was full and satisfied, especially considering it cost less than 1500 yen. They also had spicy dishes like La Zi Ji (chicken with chili peppers) on the menu, so I'm looking forward to trying some authentic Chinese dishes with a glass of Shaoxing wine next time.

The taste is top-notch at Akabane's Chinese restaurant, but the prices are a bit high for each item on the menu. The portions are also on the smaller side. While everything I tried was good, there was a lack of a sense of value for money. The recommended set meals that used to be a good deal have also increased in price. Perhaps the lack of Japanese staff affects the overall user experience (laughs). Thank you for the meal.
