A cafeteria located along Showa Street, about a 5-minute walk from Okachimachi Station in the Okachimachi area. This restaurant is open 24 hours, so I visited for breakfast. The interior has many table seats. Since it was a bit late for breakfast, there were hardly any customers. Similar to Maidoookini Shokudo, it is a self-service style restaurant where you can choose your dishes from the displayed side dishes, and the staff will prepare the rice and soup for you. Perhaps because there were no other customers, the staff kindly warmed up my side dishes in the microwave while preparing my rice. After being seated, the staff will provide you with a slip for payment, and you can settle the bill at the counter after finishing your meal. This time, I had the "Grilled Silver Salmon (490 yen)", "Mapo Tofu (300 yen)", "Mini Tamagoyaki (110 yen)", "Pork Miso Soup (170 yen)", and "Large Rice (220 yen)". All the dishes were decently tasty, but I didn't expect the silver salmon to be so expensive. There is a wide variety of side dishes to choose from, so it's great for when you're not sure what to eat.

I checked on Tabelog to find a place near my company and used it. There didn't seem to be any places to eat at first glance near my current workplace, so information from Tabelog is very important. I use it conveniently, like turning down an alley or walking to a nearby place. Today, I wondered if I could have a set meal, so I decided to try this place. I chose a main dish and side dish, the type of rice, and miso soup to order, and paid at the end before leaving. The staff at the restaurant will heat up the main dish for you. Recently, I haven't been cooking hot dishes with fire, so the delicious-looking glass noodle stir-fry caught my eye and I decided on it for the main dish. I also chose the restaurant's tasty egg omelette and mixed grain rice. There was nori-tama on the table with unlimited toppings, which was much appreciated! It was a hot day, so I skipped the miso soup, but the glass noodle dish was soupy enough to satisfy. It was a homey meal that I hadn't had in a while. It wasn't very spicy, so if I were making it myself, I might have added sesame oil and crushed red pepper. It was delicious, thank you for the meal!

I was really hungry, so I loaded up my tray with food I wanted to eat, and ended up getting a huge portion of rice by mistake (lol). The salmon rice was flaky and hard to eat, and the taste was just okay. However, the deep-fried tofu was delicious and highly recommended. Luckily, I got a 100 yen discount on my bill that day, so I was able to eat cheaply.

I wanted to have fried horse mackerel, but unfortunately they didn't have it today, so I went with fried oysters instead. They fry it after you order so it's hot and juicy. They also microwaved the shumai for me. There wasn't anything that stood out as amazing, but I also didn't feel disappointed. It was a nice place to relax and have a casual meal without feeling like I was at a pub. I'll definitely visit again!

Komachi Shokudo, first visit. Various side dishes are prepared in the dishes, and customers can pick up their favorites on a tray and take them to the staff counter. The staff will heat up the dishes that need to be warmed. Rice and miso soup can be ordered separately at the kitchen counter. Tea is self-service. They also offer curry and udon. Regardless of the taste and cooking level, the menu is surprisingly extensive. - Rice (large) (210 yen tax included) - Miso soup (90 yen tax included) - Mini salad with 11 types of vegetables (210 yen tax included) - Ham and eggs (190 yen tax included) - Potato salad (100 yen tax included) - Oden from the dining hall (210 yen tax included) - Mini natto (90 yen tax included) I randomly picked up items on the tray. When I sat down and looked at it, I realized I got 3 eggs from the ham and eggs, and 4 soy-based items from the natto, miso soup, fried tofu, and ganmo. I tried to avoid overlapping ingredients, but ended up with a lot of overlap. (laughs) On my way out, I noticed that the natto was not included in the bill. "Hey, you forgot to charge for the natto," I told the staff. I make sure to report everything honestly. They also serve alcohol, and they have a Senbero set, so it might be convenient for evening use.

I visited the restaurant around 6:30 on a weekday. There were no other customers when I arrived, and only one customer came in after me. The restaurant is run by a father and a sister. You can place your order verbally, and they will bring your food along with the receipt. The wait was a bit longer than expected, and the egg was so undercooked that it was almost runny.

I had the Shirasu Don for 530 yen. It is a local chain restaurant located near Naka-Okachimachi Station along Showa Street. The simple Shirasu with grated radish at this price is worth it. The main way to order is to choose your favorite side dishes from the showcase. It seems that they have resumed 24-hour operation, with healthy menu options available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The value of using this restaurant just keeps growing.

A system where you can put as much food as you want on a tray and pay at the checkout. I ended up putting a lot on it (laughs) Mackerel nanban, deep-fried tofu, chicken nanban, and shirasu bowl. The mackerel nanban has a good balance of vinegar and is delicious. It's filling, so I recommend it for those who are hungry.

Breakfast is a rare find in this area, so I decided to try the set meal option. You can choose from a variety of side dishes and the set includes rice and miso soup or pork miso soup. They also offer curry and noodles. I visited on a Saturday morning and found that the main dish was only salted mackerel, with sides like egg, natto, and potato salad. The selection was narrower than expected. The mackerel was reheated on the spot, but it was dry and lacked any fatty flavor. The rice was mediocre. The miso soup was also weak in flavor. Overall, I felt that convenience store bento boxes offer better quality. The price was around 800 yen, which is reasonable, but I found that the morning set meals at beef bowl chain restaurants are more affordable. It seems more like a drinking spot than a set meal restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

I was feeling hungry and wondering if there was anything to eat, and then I found this place (lol). Here, you can choose your own side dishes and then order rice and miso soup, but I always end up choosing things like fish and rolled omelette. However, I felt like the taste has declined compared to before.

This is a type of restaurant where you choose what you want to eat, so there are no set menus, which may make it feel a bit pricey. However, even the items shown in the photos are priced at 710 yen. Among the dishes I tried, the seaweed vinegar dish was particularly delicious. The miso soup and rice were also tasty, but I found the miso-marinated mackerel to be a bit tough. I felt like I would like to come back again. If you don't take too many side dishes, you can keep it under 1000 yen in total, so I think it's a good deal for those who are not good at cooking. The miso-marinated mackerel also comes in a half-size option (200 yen). If you want to try other dishes as well, the half-size might be a good choice.

This is a self-service cafeteria. This time, I had pork miso soup, fried horse mackerel, mentaiko, and salted mackerel. The flavors were as expected and reliable, allowing for a casual and worry-free dining experience. Be careful not to overeat when you get carried away and take too many dishes. The restaurant is spacious, allowing for a relaxed meal. The staff is straightforward but not unpleasant. With 24-hour service, it is convenient for those times when you want to eat at odd hours.

On a certain Saturday, I walked from Ochanomizu to Okachimachi after work on a holiday. It wasn't really a long walk, just to get to a specific restaurant. The destination was Komachi Shokudo Iwamotocho branch. Unfortunately, they had a time limit for their all-you-can-drink special, so I decided to skip the 90-minute all-you-can-drink for 1,590 yen. I started the all-you-can-drink at 4:50 PM, with last order at 6 PM, which seemed like enough time. I began with a draft beer (500 yen) and ordered the liver and leek stir-fry (330 yen) to warm up. The liver and leek stir-fry consisted of thinly sliced liver, leeks, bean sprouts, and carrots, with a strong ginger flavor and slightly rich seasoning that paired well with beer. I added another draft beer at 4:58 PM and a third one at 5:04 PM. I switched to sweet potato shochu with hot water (460 yen) at 5:23 PM. As the pace of ordering slowed down, I added the meat and potato stew (280 yen) for a homely taste at 5:44 PM. Since I ran out of snacks, I added lotus root salad (170 yen). As the last call approached, I chose small portions for snacks. The total bill was 2,370 yen for 3 draft beers, 2 shochus, and various dishes. While I didn't lose, it wasn't a clear victory either, ending on a delicate balance.

I visited a diner located across from Showa Street. There are several branches in Tokyo, where you can choose your favorite side dishes and dishes yourself. Look at this beautifully arranged grilled fish, mixed grain rice, and miso soup - delicious, cheap, and healthy. It's great that you can choose what you like at that moment. It's recommended for those who like a slightly run-down atmosphere. It's a lifesaver to have one nearby rather than making a special trip. The manager patiently teaches the trainees, and when you pay, they bow deeply in gratitude. By the way, is the skin or the flesh of the sliced grilled fish facing up?

I visited this restaurant for breakfast near Ueno, located along Showa Street, a little south of Naka-Okachimachi Station. The place has a typical chain restaurant vibe. I ordered the Jumbo Chicken Cutlet with seaweed vinegar, and healthy rice (mixed grain rice). You have to serve yourself, similar to a cafeteria style. The seaweed vinegar had a good amount of seaweed and just the right amount of vinegar taste. The Jumbo Chicken Cutlet is a factory-made product, but for the price, it's decent. The healthy rice was a bit soft for my liking, I prefer it a bit firmer. The menu has a wide variety, making it a convenient restaurant to visit.

There is a restaurant near Naka-Okachimachi Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line. Due to COVID-19, alcohol is not allowed at night. Let's just have a meal quietly and then head home. This type of restaurant is where you choose small dishes and pay at the end. It's like a cafeteria style. Takeout is not allowed, as it's for dine-in only. Many people don't follow this rule. I once ended up spending over 1,000 yen by choosing too many dishes. I learned my lesson and this time I kept it to a minimum: Kinpira (130 yen), Miso Eggplant Stir-fry (330 yen), Small Rice (130 yen), Miso Soup (90 yen), totaling 680 yen. The Miso Eggplant Stir-fry was microwaved. The Kinpira had a mild flavor. The Miso Eggplant Stir-fry was rich in flavor. The rice was so good it was hard to stop eating. Drinking miso soup at night makes me feel refreshed. It would have been even better with beer. I want to stay home during Golden Week, but I have work. Let's take the subway home. Thank you for the meal.

I went to a new restaurant today called Kamaya in Ueno. It was a self-service style where you can choose your own main and starter dishes. I picked clam and asparagus with basil pesto for the starter, and salted mackerel for the main. You can choose the portion size of rice and whether you want miso soup or not. The food was decent for the price, and you pay when you leave. Overall, it's a good place to visit once a week. They also offer options like mixed grain rice instead of white rice and pork miso soup instead of regular miso soup.

I visited a self-service style restaurant in Naka-Okachimachi, closer to Akihabara, on a weekend afternoon. There are several branches in Tokyo and they are open 24 hours a day, all year round. You can choose your own side dishes, which can be a fun challenge. They also have healthy menu options. I enjoyed my meal while watching sumo wrestling on TV. This place could also be used as an izakaya. It feels like being a character in a 72 Hours TV show. It's a restaurant that offers more practicality than the taste of a documentary program on NHK.

Pork miso udon for 600 yen (limited time offer). Due to the strong rain and wind, I decided to have lunch near the office instead of going far. I entered the restaurant at 11:31 am, my first visit in about 3 years. Komachi Shokudo is a cafeteria where you can freely choose from over 60 menu items, but I decided to go with the pork miso udon this time. I couldn't forget the taste of the pork miso udon I had last time, and since it's only available at this time of the year, it was a perfect opportunity. I ordered the pork miso udon from the staff and it arrived in about 6 minutes. The ingredients included fried tofu, daikon radish, carrot, burdock root, pork, konjac, and taro. I took a sip of the soup first, which was spicy from the start and very delicious. The udon noodles had a good texture with just the right amount of chewiness. I added more spiciness and plenty of shichimi pepper. I really love the pork miso udon here. I paid with PayPay and got 39 yen cashback. It was a delicious meal. Used for lunch on January 8, 2020.
