I visited the noodle shop Kasamaru in Ueno, which is open on Saturday mornings, and tried their Tororo Soba. The shop had a cozy atmosphere with only one customer when I arrived. A local regular recommended the Tororo Soba to me, and I found it to be delicious with a flavorful broth made from Hokkaido kombu and Kagoshima bonito flakes. The soba noodles were also very tasty and I enjoyed my meal. #EarlyMorningKasamaruClub #NoodleShopFirst #SobaForBreakfast

The Ebi-Tendon Set and Morisoba were neither good nor bad. The dipping sauce was sweet. The tempura batter on the Ebi-Tendon was more crispy than crunchy. It was like KFC's Crispy Chicken. The dipping sauce, like the Morisoba, was also sweet. But this was delicious.

During my lunch break at work, I went to Kasamaru Soba. The restaurant is not very spacious, but the turnover is good, making it perfect for a quick meal for salarymen. This time, I ordered the Tamago Toji Katsu Curry and the Cold Ebi-Ten Soba.
First, the Cold Ebi-Ten Soba had large shrimp, which was a nice point! The amount of soba was sufficient, so I think it's a good deal for 690 yen.
And the Tamago Toji Katsu Curry was amazing! The generous portion of katsu with egg and curry was delicious. The flavor is a bit strong, so if you prefer lighter taste, it may not be to your liking. But for those who enjoy rich flavors, I think you will absolutely love it! I ended up overeating with these two dishes by myself, haha. Thank you for the meal.

The Katsudon and Morisoba set. The Morisoba is decent, similar to Yudetaro in quality, but lacks the aroma of soba. It's not as sticky as Komoro soba, but has a slight chewiness. The broth is quite sweet and there is not much green onion. The Katsudon has a generous portion, but the broth is too salty. The meat is cheap and tasteless.

I will have a tanuki soba for 470 yen today for breakfast in Okachimachi. It's a standing soba shop that I had completely forgotten about, even though it's close to Okachimachi Station. I saw reviews from others on my way to work and noticed this place, so let's give it a try. I arrived at 7:20 AM and there was one customer already there and one came in after me. It's been about 6 and a half years since I last visited. I ordered my recent favorite, tanuki soba with tempura bits, green onions, and seaweed toppings. They have a variety of chili peppers to choose from, which is nice. I added some ichimi togarashi and started eating. The whole wheat noodles have a good texture and taste delicious. The broth is not too salty, with a good flavor of bonito flakes. They use domestic ingredients, which is a plus. My impression has changed from my last visit when I didn't have a good experience. However, the prices are a bit on the higher side. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and my impression has improved. I might visit more often in the future. Enjoyed my meal on April 14, 2023, for breakfast. I visited "Kasamaru Soba," located a few minutes' walk from Naka-Okachimachi Station on the Hibiya Line. It is near Okachimachi Station on the JR line. I visited around 7:15 in the morning and they were open. There was one customer before me, so I was probably the second customer. They were boiling the soba noodles. I looked at the ticket machine and decided to try the tempura and egg soba for 590 yen. While waiting, I checked out the various things in the shop. There was a motorcycle inside the shop... I wonder what the situation is with that? If it gets crowded, do they take it outside? I'm not sure. I noticed on the menu that they have green bean tempura. Is it for tempura rice bowl toppings? There were three types of chili peppers on the table. And here it comes! The tempura was on the smaller side. The broth was quite sweet. The seasoning was subtle, so the sweetness stood out. Breaking the raw egg made it even milder... The wakame seaweed dominated the flavor completely. The soba noodles were freshly boiled but lacked firmness and were on the softer side. It seems like you can only expect firmness with cold soba noodles. The tempura had a lump of flour on the back, like the green tanuki image in cup noodles. It was floury and not great. Overall, it was not great. Even considering it as a standing soba shop, it was not impressive. Rating: 2.0 The seasoning was weak, sweet, and the soba noodles lacked firmness even when freshly boiled... I might visit again sometime in the future, but I will definitely try the cold zaru soba next time. Thank you for the meal.

The other day, I visited Kasamaru Soba, located a 5-minute walk from JR Yamanote Line/Keihin-Tohoku Line Okachimachi Station, known as the "Morikasa Shigeru of the standing soba world". Morikasa Shigeru, a right-handed batter from Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, is a former outfielder who played for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp and Yokohama BayStars. He was compared to Kanemoto Chinen and had a successful career in baseball. The restaurant is located along Kasuga Street in Okachimachi, an area where I used to visit frequently to buy jeans, accessories, and sports goods. This was my first visit to Kasamaru Soba, and I was excited to try their famous large Mori Soba with raw egg.

I visited a convenient soba restaurant within walking distance from JR Okachimachi Station and Tokyo Metro Naka-Okachimachi Station. I had been there before but had completely forgotten to write a review. On this day, I wasn't feeling well and could only have the light wakame soba (490 yen) as planned. I ordered it and waited quietly at my seat. Soon, my soba was ready, and I ate it silently. The texture was good, the noodles had a nice firmness, and the broth was not too strong, making it delicious. I thought I would like to try the tempura soba when I'm feeling my best. Thank you for the meal.

I decided to have breakfast at a standing soba shop diagonally across from Takoya in Okachimachi. It appears to be called Kasamaru Soba and it doesn't seem to be a chain. There's a ticket machine on the left at the entrance. I pushed for the tempura soba (520 yen). It's becoming rare to find a standing soba shop where you can eat tempura soba for just one coin. There are seating and standing areas available. The toppings include tempura, green onions, and seaweed. Despite being in Tokyo, the broth is on the lighter side. The noodles have a good texture. There are three types of chili peppers on the table. It's one of the charms of Tokyo to have non-chain standing soba shops. It's a world that can only exist in a densely populated area. I was in and out in 5 minutes.

Today's morning was spent exploring the area around Okachimachi Station. Exiting the north exit of JR Okachimachi Station, turning left immediately after passing through the ticket gate, you will find yourself on Kasuga Street. Walk along Kasuga Street towards Kuramae for a while until you reach a crossroads where Kasuga Street intersects with Showa Street. Cross the signal towards Kuramae and then immediately cross towards Ueno. Turn right and continue walking along Kasuga Street towards Kuramae until you see the restaurant we visited today, "Kasamaru Soba," on your left. We entered the restaurant at 9:00 AM on a weekday. Upon entering, we took our time to look around the empty establishment. The menu was displayed on the ticket machine on the left side of the entrance. I chose the "Squid Tempura Soba" and made my selection on the ticket machine before handing the ticket to the chef at the counter. After a short wait, the "Squid Tempura Soba" was served, consisting of soba noodles in a light broth topped with squid tempura, seaweed, and chopped green onions. The broth was mild and fragrant, with a delicate and refreshing taste. The noodles were firm and smooth, and the squid tempura was light and crispy, adding a nice texture to the dish. The generous portion of seaweed provided a different texture to enjoy. As I continued to eat, the flavors of the squid tempura blended with the broth, creating a delicious combination. Each slurp of the soba noodles was accompanied by a piece of squid tempura, making for a satisfying meal.

After thinking that I had completed all the standing soba restaurants in Naka-Okachimachi, I discovered another one, "Kasamaru Soba"! I visited it right away and enjoyed the firm noodles in a clear broth. Delicious! The four standing soba restaurants in Naka-Okachimachi are: Toridashi Soba Udon Sanchome Kameya (Okachimachi branch), Takumi Soba, Kasamaru Soba.

I have been here about 10 times. I often pass by Kasuga Street in front of me, so when I'm short on time, I quickly park my car and have a quick meal at Hirameshi in just 5 minutes. I appreciate being able to use it like that. The exterior and interior of the restaurant look like a chain store, but there are no other branches, it seems to be an independent establishment. The interior is set up for standing dining, but there are also chairs in a high-chair style. The bright interior also attracts female customers. I have only tried the tempura soba, but I always enjoy it. The tempura always seems freshly fried. My favorite condiment here is the sesame spice. There are three types of condiments available on the table: shichimi, ichimi, and sesame spice, which seems to be a unique feature of this restaurant. I will definitely visit again. This is a convenient place in Ueno when in a hurry, I think.

Today, I had lunch at a standing soba shop called "Kasamaru Soba" in Okachimachi. The nearest station is a 2-minute walk from Naka-Okachimachi Station on the Hibiya Line, and a 4-minute walk from JR Okachimachi Station, located along Kasuga Street. At first glance, I thought there was a "Kasazoki Soba" in Okachimachi, but upon closer inspection, it was actually "Kasamaru Soba" established in Nihonbashi Muromachi. Upon entering the shop, there were 11 seats at the counter and 5 standing counter seats in the cozy shop, where a man who seemed to be the owner was running the place alone. The menu was displayed on the wall, but without prices. Since it was cold today, I planned to top my warm soba with spring chrysanthemum tempura and shiitake mushroom tempura, but both were not available, so I decided to buy "Duck Soba" and "Salmon Rice" from the ticket machine. Usually, I would go for a set menu, but I was drawn to the "Duck Soba" this time! I handed the ticket to the kitchen window at the back of the shop and waited at my seat. After about 2 minutes of ordering, I was called. The "Duck Soba" had 5 slices of duck meat, along with leeks and seaweed, all for a reasonable price. It seemed to be made with fresh soba, as it had a nice firm texture. The broth was not too strong and very delicious. The "Salmon Rice" had salmon flakes, chopped seaweed, and pickles on top of warm rice, which I enjoyed along with the broth from the duck soba. Today was colder than expected, so having warm soba really helped warm me up.

I go out of the base to replenish food, either in Akihabara or Ueno. I avoid busy areas when looking for a place to eat. I found a food procurement place called "Takeiya" in front of me. I thought it was a standing soba chain, but it turns out to be a personal store. Many places do not allow standing and eating, hence the name "Dash Soba" is more appropriate. Our team is not too relaxed, prioritizing distance space. I peek inside the store without being noticed, legally allowed peeking: Oh, it's empty! There is only one group of customers ahead... Maybe I can go in? I thought it was a standing soba chain that wasn't doing well, but when I realized there was only one individual store, I became interested in the sample of "Squid Tempura Soba" displayed at the storefront. I have conquered about 10 dash soba shops around the base. Now the only certified shop for our team is "Hakone Soba Akihabara". Of course, I also only repeat at "Hakone Soba Akihabara". There is not a single shop around Ueno, so I want to know more about its background... It's empty, so I feel safe, and I don't have to rush to the ticket vending machine. I already know what I want from the menu. I submit my order for "Squid Tempura Soba" at the back of the kitchen. I sit down and wait to be called. I've learned the etiquette of dash soba. I am the only customer, it's quick! The "Squid Tempura Soba" arrives... It's fine, I feel relieved. Slurp... The soba is not exceptional, but it easily surpasses the local soba shop "Tsutaya" I visited the other day. The texture, sensation, and taste are in the safe zone. Slurp... How about that? Dash soba often outshines local soba shops; it's the 21st century. The soba broth has a refreshing and slightly sweet flavor. A little sweetness is okay, but overly sweet is not good. The squid tempura is better than the "strange squid" I had at a local soba shop the other day. If you simply fry squid, this is what you get. The devaluation of the yen means tough times for Japan. In 2022, it's just one coin. Sorry for the worthless yen... I express my gratitude to the chef and leave Japan... By the way, the shut-in guy, who was once into standing and eating, seems to have lost interest in it. He doesn't talk about wanting to go standing and eating anymore. Maybe there's no potential in new places, but I'll report the investigation results anyway.

On a hot weekday afternoon, I decided to stop by here for some soba noodles. It's a typical standing soba shop, but they also offer set meals with rice bowls. I chose the zaru soba with squid tempura. It was quickly prepared and I picked it up at the counter. The wasabi was self-service, but the water on top of it was a bit off-putting. The broth looked a bit thin, but it had a salty taste without much dashi flavor. The restaurant was clean and the service was very good. I just wish the dipping sauce was more flavorful.

Last week, I had breakfast at Kasamaru Soba in Okachimachi and ordered green bean tempura, shrimp tempura, and green onion tempura. The soup had a light color but a rich flavor from the broth. The green bean tempura was fried individually instead of in a clump, which was nice. It was delicious. I also appreciated the variety of spice levels available. Thank you for the meal!

Visited around 7:30. There are 7 counter seats, 1 standing table, and 1 seated table. It's a standing-style restaurant but having seated tables is a nice point. There is no separate breakfast set menu, the same menu and pricing apply. Tempura seems to be popular as kitsune was not available. Ordered curry and dipping soba for 590 yen. The curry portion is smaller compared to other places. The broth was better than average, but the soba was a bit disappointing, leaving a feeling on the teeth. It's not due to incorrect boiling, but probably the way it's made. I don't plan to complain since it's cheap, and it's a matter of personal preference. The curry was like a typical retort curry.

I had tororo soba for breakfast at Takeya, a casual soba restaurant located across the road. I regretted choosing a rice bowl last time, so I decided to visit again. I requested more wakame and less domestic grated yam than the sample shown. Wakame is a hit or miss in soba dishes, but today it worked well. They had three types of chili peppers, which was a bonus. The presence of female customers is also a unique feature. Key point before a health check-up: Those who can handle seaweed and sliminess can conquer a health check-up.

There was still a TGS (standing soba) that I hadn't visited yet! I used to drive past Kasuga Street often before, but now it's off my usual route. I checked out the samples and other things outside, and decided to try the store where they boil the noodles fresh. I had the mori soba as expected, with cold and refreshing noodles dipped in the sauce. The sauce had a unique flavor, adding a special touch to the dish. It might not be handmade from scratch, but the taste at this standing soba place is quite impressive. Now I'm curious to try their kakesoba. I thought this year would be a cool summer, but surprisingly the rainy season ended early and it's gotten hot quickly. So, I might not get around to trying the kakesoba until after the end of summer vacation.

I visited "Kasamaru Soba" on a certain holiday in June around 11 o'clock. Located about a 2-minute walk from Naka-Okachimachi Station, the restaurant had no previous customers when I arrived. I chose the "Tentama Soba" for ¥490 at the ticket machine inside the small restaurant. They only offer soba menu items, no udon. I presented my ticket at the order counter and received my meal in just 3 minutes. The "Tentama Soba" came with crispy tempura, raw egg, wakame seaweed, and chopped green onions. The combination of thin noodles and lightly flavored broth with bonito was excellent. I enjoyed softening the very crunchy tempura in the broth, which also had a hint of vegetable sweetness. The tempura was of higher quality than expected. I sprinkled some shichimi pepper on top for extra flavor and enjoyed the dish. Breaking the raw egg yolk and dipping the tempura in it created a different, delightful taste. I savored the flavorful broth, soba, and tempura until the last bite. The satisfaction I got from this meal was definitely worth more than ¥490. Although the exterior may give off a typical standing soba shop vibe, the taste and value at "Kasamaru Soba" were impressive. I look forward to visiting this place regularly.
