こまめ2017
*Waiting Time*
I had a reservation for Sunday at 11:00 (due to traffic, I arrived around 12:00).
There was no wait because of the reservation.
I left the room around 14:30.
*Order & Price*
Seasonal course for 8300 yen.
*Atmosphere*
All rooms are separate and there is a lot of greenery with a detailed Japanese-style setting. It's a very lovely space. The room I was seated in was called "Takeichi" and it had a view of a waterwheel and a spacious balcony. The staff mentioned it was their favorite room with the best view. I was delighted to be accommodated in such a wonderful room. There was also a toilet in the room which was reassuring. The welcoming staff, the service of feeding the koi, and the service of selling dishes that you liked were all very attentive, and I thought it was very thoughtful.
*Service*
As it was a birthday celebration, I requested for flowers to be arranged. They confirmed the desired color scheme and provided a luxurious bouquet that did not look like it cost 3000 yen.
*Impressions*
I got stuck in a huge traffic jam on the third day of a long weekend and ended up arriving an hour late, but they still warmly welcomed me. I was feeling rushed and anxious due to the hurry, but I instantly felt calm and relaxed. The appetizer dish was in the shape of a fan and looked lovely. The buckwheat steamed with mochi was chewy, the chrysanthemum salad had beautiful colors and a refreshing taste, the grated radish with salmon roe sparkled, the grape beans were soft and plump with a gentle sweetness, the smoked Saku carp was easy to eat without any fishy taste, the fallen flower peanuts and tofu had a creamy flavor, the maitake mushroom tempura was crispy, and the small taro-ni was satisfying with an elegant taste... each dish was carefully made and it was evident. It was all very delicious. The warm dish of mushrooms and duck meatballs was voluminous. They cooked several types of mushrooms in a thick soup on the spot and served it. The thick soup instantly warmed my body. It looked delicious even as a dipping soba. There were several unusual mushrooms, and I enjoyed various textures. The duck meatballs were soft and fluffy. The grilled salted sweetfish head and the tail with plenty of salt, except for the thick bones, were all edible. The sweetfish had roe and was plump. It was easy to eat without any fishy smell and had just the right amount of saltiness, and the skin was also delicious. The hand-made buckwheat soba with grated yam was made with 80% buckwheat. The extremely thin noodles had a firm texture, so I could enjoy the chewiness. It was very delicious. It was delicious on its own, but the grated yam and broth were also very tasty, so I dipped it generously and ate it. The amount was just right. Iberico pork wrapped in magnolia leaves. The Iberico pork was a beautiful pink color and moist. It was cold as it was, so I warmed it with miso according to my preference before eating. It was soft and the flavor of the pork was condensed, making it very delicious. Even if it was slightly overcooked, it remained soft. And the miso was sweet and went perfectly with the pork. It was also delicious to eat by placing it on top of the rice. Gorohei rice cooked in a pot. This rice is said to be a rare brand, and it was shockingly delicious. It was a rice that made me so impressed, which hasn't happened in a long time. Perhaps it was because it was cooked in a pot. And if you couldn't finish it, they would make onigiri for you. I ate it cold at home, and even though it was cold, it was still delicious, though not as good as when it was freshly cooked. Homemade pear sorbet. There were some rough bits of pear remaining, and it had a creamy taste like gelato, which was very delicious. It's a bit more sophisticated.
*Expectations*
I hope for excellent service, a relaxing atmosphere, calming Japanese background music, and of course, delicious food. It's not cheap, but I was completely satisfied with everything and felt like I was staying at a ryokan. I would love to visit again for another celebration.
