I visited Tai Ran in front of Shinjuku Gyoen on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for their limited lunch menu. They only serve oyakodon, and it can sell out quickly on certain days. Luckily, I arrived early this day and managed to get a seat at the counter. The oyakodon arrived with a glossy, steaming egg covering the tender chicken and served with pickles and mushroom miso soup. The sweet flavor of the oyakodon made it easy to eat, with a mix of soft and chewy chicken pieces providing various textures and rich flavors. The hot rice was a nice touch, staying piping hot even after swallowing. It was a simple but delicious oyakodon. Thank you for the meal.

This is a restaurant near Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station that serves delicious oyakodon. I went around 11:30 am on a weekday and had to wait for about 5 minutes to get in. It seems to be quite popular as they stopped taking orders around 12 pm. The oyakodon was tasty, although when compared to my favorite place in Kyoto, it falls a bit short.

[Tairen] Compared to mainland chicken oyakodon ¥1100, 4 minutes walk from Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station, Closed on Sundays (lunch only on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays) Let's go to a place that only serves lunch on weekdays. Friday edition 🍚 HoneyWorks' CHICO recommended this restaurant on Twitter a while ago and I was curious. For lunch, they only serve oyakodon, keeping it simple. The interior of the restaurant seemed to have a tatami room in the back, but for lunch, you sit at an L-shaped counter. When the covered bowl is served, it gets you excited! Opening the lid, the steam and aroma spread out, making it so good d(˙꒳˙* ) A simple bowl with just eggs, chicken, and rice... The creamy eggs, chewy chicken, and the sweet and salty flavor typical of oyakodon, it's delicious! And there are clearly different parts of chicken meat! The chicken skin adds texture and you can enjoy different parts, which is nice. The seasoning is just right, not too strong or too light. With the pickles, it feels like I could eat this forever haha It was delicious~( *¯ ꒳¯*) By 12:30, they said they were sold out except for reserved orders. I arrived around 12:00 and it was close haha. I thought it was okay since it's a weekday afternoon, but I almost missed out too haha Thank you for the meal m(_ _)m

The parent and child bowl and the liver are the best here, especially the liver. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the owner are great. The tsukune (with soft-boiled egg) is also delicious, and they even offer complimentary white rice. The owner is friendly and easy to talk to, and the other customers are also nice people. I want to go (or keep going) every week.

Located on the outskirts of Shinjuku Gyoen, Tai Ran is a well-known restaurant among ramen shops in the area. This was my second visit, and once again I was impressed by the refined cuisine. This time, I was brought here by my boss. The dishes were quite substantial, starting with simmered dishes, fried dishes, sashimi, two grilled dishes, tempura, and the famous tsukune for dessert. But the ultimate specialty here is the oyakodon! How can you leave without trying it? We shared it among four people, but I ended up eating most of it and had a very satisfying meal. Thank you for bringing me here, and I look forward to visiting again! 🎶

We requested a banquet for 4,000 yen and enjoyed a variety of dishes including appetizers, sashimi platter, tempura, a large assortment of yakitori, and oyakodon for a satisfying meal. We also had drinks ranging from beer to sake. The main focus was on chicken dishes with a good selection of seafood options as well. We used the private room in the back, but the counter seating also looked enjoyable for a la carte options. The restaurant is located at the eastern end of Shinjuku 1-chome, which may be a bit inconvenient, but it has a cozy hidden gem vibe. Including drinks, the total cost was around 6,000 yen. We would like to visit this restaurant again.

The restaurant is open for lunch on weekdays only, Monday, Thursday, and Friday. The lunch menu consists of Hichinai Jidori Oyakodon only. The price of the Oyakodon doesn't vary much even for dinner visits. The restaurant closes shortly after opening, and only those with reservations can enter afterwards. According to the information I found, there are days when they sell out in just 30 minutes. I wanted to try the Hichinai Jidori Oyakodon, so I registered and managed to make a reservation for a day off work on a weekday. I visited and had the Hichinai Jidori Oyakodon (1100 yen). I parked my car at a parking lot with a shopping service from another store and visited the restaurant. I arrived on a Thursday at around 11:25 AM, and there was no line as I had a reservation. I waited a bit away until 11:29 AM when I heard the door closing, and the curtain was out. Upon entering, there were two other customers already seated, and I confirmed my reservation and sat down. By 11:33 AM, all first-floor seats were full. At 11:38 AM, three more customers were guided to the tatami room, and the restaurant closed shortly after that. It was operated by two female staff members, and it seemed like they were closing once the remaining customers were served (they seemed to operate while confirming the number of servings they could make, so maybe you could enter later if there were servings left?). Since there is only one menu item, I was only asked for my order after being seated. One of the later customers ordered a large serving and beer, so it seems like you can order other items as well. The serving order was around 11:36 AM for the first customer, 11:42 AM for the second, and 11:44 AM for me. The Oyakodon uses Hichinai Jidori chicken, so the meat is of good quality and delicious. It has a generous amount of broth, and the rice is well soaked in the sauce, which is a bit salty for my taste but generally liked by others, similar to the strong flavor of major chain restaurants. The miso soup and pickles were also tasty. The downside is that you're not sure if you can eat without a reservation, but the Oyakodon was delicious, so I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

The atmosphere at Taizen's restaurant was great, and the staff were friendly and provided excellent service. I ordered the parent and child rice bowl without hesitation. It had a perfect balance of volume and deliciousness. The tenderness of the chicken and the sweetness were outstanding. I definitely want to visit the restaurant again! I highly recommend everyone to give it a try!

Located in the Shinjuku Gyoenmae area, this yakitori restaurant only opens on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays for lunch, making it a rare find. I decided to visit on a Monday, which also happened to be the company's anniversary and the only day they are closed. I arrived 30 minutes before opening at 11 am and was surprised to find no line. By 5 minutes before opening, there were about 7 people waiting. It seems like Mondays are a good day to visit, as working professionals are busy. You can also make reservations for lunch, which I highly recommend. The restaurant has 8 counter seats and a few more seats in the back. The menu offers only oyakodon, made with Hinai-jidori chicken and eggs cooked perfectly. The combination of creamy eggs and secret sauce was amazing. The chicken was flavorful and the rice was of high quality, with each grain standing out. The price of 1100 yen was surprisingly affordable, considering the current high cost of eggs. Overall, this was one of the best oyakodon dishes I've ever had. I was impressed by the quality and value of the meal. I recommend visiting for dinner if you can't make it for lunch. Thank you for the delicious meal!

It seems that they are only open for lunch on certain days of the week. I visited "Tai Ran" today because according to a search on Tabelog, it was an operating day and I arrived in time for the 11:30 opening. There were already 6 people lined up. Even at this time, the sign was already turned over to say "Today's business has ended"... sweat. There were quite a few people with reservations who were prioritized and seated, but I managed to get a seat at the counter in one go. Today's lunch was only offering Hichinai chicken and egg bowl, but since I wanted to eat that, it was no problem (^_−)−☆. The Akita Hichinai chicken and egg bowl cost 1100 yen. The owner is a woman who takes care of her customers in a meticulous way. As the temperature was a bit cool, she adjusted the air conditioning, provided cold water to those who seemed hot, and had her assistant check frequently if there were any people waiting outside. The consideration is amazing (≧∀≦). The restaurant is quiet without any background music. In that atmosphere, only the owner carefully cooked the chicken and egg. Now it's time to eat. Let's dig in! Wow (*゚▽゚*), the egg has an exquisite softness. The appearance is also very beautiful! When you taste it, it has a gentle flavor (≧∀≦). The skin of the Hichinai chicken is also elastic and delicious. The shichimi spice goes well with it! Phew, I'm so full ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡. It was a satisfying meal. Thank you♪

I went to a restaurant near Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station looking for oyakodon. I arrived 30 minutes before opening on a weekday and was the first in line with no customers ahead of me. About 20 minutes before opening, more people started lining up, and by the time they opened, there were about 15 people in line. A few people at the back of the line couldn't get in and ended up leaving. Even after opening, more customers kept coming but were told that they had already reached their limit for the day. It's better to come early to be able to get in on the first round. Those who had made reservations were called in first. The lunch menu only had oyakodon for 1100 yen. I received my order about 10 minutes after being seated. The miso soup and oyakodon were served piping hot, making it a bit challenging to eat. The sauce was flavorful and slightly sweet, but be careful as it can burn your mouth. It was delicious.

Opened in 2012, this popular restaurant in Shinjuku Gyoen serves a delicious parent and child bowl lunch. The lunch (available on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays) is limited to around 25 servings, so by around noon, it was already sold out on this day. The parent and child bowl costs 1,100 yen and is made with one Hichinai egg and two red chicken eggs. The eggs are rich and creamy, almost like a perfectly cooked egg over rice. The Hichinai chicken, with its distinct charcoal aroma, is flavorful and satisfying to eat. The breast meat and large cuts of thigh meat have a great texture, and the dashi broth made from Hichinai chicken bones, slightly sweet seasoning, and added chicken belly fat create a rich and delicious flavor. The tenderness and sweetness of the Hichinai chicken in this dish go down smoothly, almost like a drink, leaving you completely satisfied. Don't miss out on this amazing parent and child bowl! Thank you for the delicious meal!

The restaurant only serves oyakodon for lunch. It seems to be popular, so it's recommended to go a little early. The oyakodon was sweet and savory, with the egg cooked to a half-boiled texture. It comes with miso soup and pickles, but both the oyakodon and miso soup were a bit on the salty side.

- Summary - Lunch at a chicken restaurant in Shinjuku Gyoen Closed the shop 10 minutes after opening w Waited 20 minutes (December/Friday 11:15 am) - Menu - Oyakodon (Chicken and egg rice bowl) 1100 yen Hello and good evening! (=ↀωↀ=)✧ According to Tabelog rating 3.63 (December 2022), they serve a popular oyakodon that sells out quickly. It seems like they are not really interested in selling a lot, as they only open for 10 minutes and bother to open and close the curtain. No bike parking, no visibility due to guardrails nearby. - Visit - Arrived at 11:15. At 11:40, the curtain closed as they ran out of food, with 4 people waiting outside. - Inside - 2 staff, L-shaped counter with 8 seats, and a tatami area at the back. - Food - Ordered the oyakodon, which was served with miso soup and pickles. The dish was hot and delicious, with plenty of chicken and perfectly cooked rice. The miso soup had tofu and green onions. Overall, everything was well-balanced and tasty. Thank you for the meal! ლ(´ڡ`ლ)

As a fan of oyakodon, I had tried several times to visit this restaurant but always gave up due to the limited quantity. However, on this day, I arrived about 10 minutes before opening and was prepared to wait. There were already two customers ahead of me, but this time I managed to get a seat. I learned that you can also make lunch reservations here. I sat at the counter and watched as the oyakodon was prepared right in front of me. During lunchtime, they only serve oyakodon, limited to about 20 servings. By the time I left around 12 o'clock, they had already sold out and turned away customers. The egg was cooked just the way I like it, but the chicken was a bit disappointing. The broth was also on the light side. Maybe the oyakodon I had at Hatsuki in Fukuoka was just too delicious, as I have yet to find one that surpasses it.

It is November 2022, during lunchtime at Shinjuku Gyoen. I decided to head to a nearby restaurant that serves parent-and-child rice bowl. This place is known for serving parent-and-child rice bowl made with Hinai-jidori chicken, but it is only available on certain days and in limited quantities during lunchtime. The demand is high, so they tend to run out quickly. When I arrived at 11:20, the curtain was still closed, but it opened at 11:25 and I was able to enter. By 11:35, the curtain came down after the 9th person entered. The menu only offers the parent-and-child rice bowl, which was confirmed when ordering. The egg was lightly beaten to a creamy texture, while the Hinai-jidori chicken had a firm texture with a juicy umami flavor. The sauce was on the sweeter side but not heavy, so it worked well. The rice was cooked slightly firm, so there was no soggy texture even at the bottom. The miso soup had a good flavor with fried tofu and daikon, but it was a bit strong. Although it was a challenge to get a seat, if the timing is right, I would come back again. Thank you for the meal.

Tranquil | Hidden gem of Hichinidori chicken known for its "drinkable" oyakodon near Shinjuku Gyoen. The restaurant is only open for lunch on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. It's always sold out quickly, so it's recommended to visit around 11:30. It was a rare opportunity to dine at this hard-to-enter restaurant, and I was thrilled. The lunch menu consists of only oyakodon, carefully prepared with richly simmered broth and flavorful Hichinidori chicken. Three eggs are used, creating a perfect creamy texture, and the rumored "drinkable" oyakodon was indeed real. The miso soup and pickles were also delicious, making it a day filled with the subtle elegance of Japanese cuisine. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

The reviewer arrived at the restaurant around 11:35 AM and found that most of the counter seats were already taken, but they were able to sit in the tatami area. The lunch menu consisted of oyakodon for 1,100 yen, which the reviewer found to be delicious with a nice balance of sweet and savory flavors, particularly highlighting the creamy texture of the eggs. Despite the restaurant being full, the reviewer enjoyed the meal and found the owner to be friendly and welcoming. Overall, they would consider returning to the restaurant in the future.

The daily lunch menu consists of only one dish, Oyakodon. Due to limited quantity and availability on certain days, it was hard to come by, but I finally got to try it! The egg was perfectly cooked, shiny and delicious. The way they left some egg white made it my preferred style of Oyakodon, with a smooth and creamy texture. The large pieces of chicken were sweet and paired perfectly with the egg, making it even more delicious. The texture was chewy and the slightly sweet seasoning was just right! Simple but incredibly delicious Oyakodon!

Chicken restaurant located in front of Shinjuku Gyoen. Visited for lunch on a weekday. Lunch is only available on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Arrived at opening at 11:30 and was the 5th in line. Sold out before noon. It seems they only prepare around 10-15 servings. Some people had made reservations, so it's recommended to reserve in advance. The seating consists of only 8 seats at an L-shaped counter. The chef and two women staff members work together. The lunch menu consists of only one dish, the "Hichinai Jidori Oyakodon", which is carefully prepared after you're seated. With only 2 burners, the timing may affect how long it takes to be ready. They don't offer extra large portions, as some customers were turned down. [Hichinai Jidori Oyakodon] (1,100 yen) - Hichinai Jidori Oyakodon: A glossy appearance that looks delicious at first sight. Plenty of eggs, very creamy. The chicken is skin-on, with a crispy texture. The rice is slightly firm. - Miso Soup: Clams and seaweed, using high-quality ingredients. - Pickles: Cucumber and purple perilla roll, showing the restaurant's commitment to quality. Due to the limited opening days and location, it may be hard to visit again, but I would definitely return if I'm in the area.

I had the limited edition Hinai-jidori oyakodon, available only on certain days. The chicken wrapped in fluffy eggs had a subtle charcoal-grilled aroma and a strong chicken flavor that spread throughout my mouth, making it impossible to stop eating. I will definitely be coming back for more. It seems that many people make reservations before coming, although you can also try your luck as a walk-in if there are available seats or servings.
