Please note that the machine only accepts cash. - The lunch special of 150g Rosukatsu set for 1000 yen tends to sell out quickly during lunchtime. *Sold out on this day* - I almost forgot to mention the meal I ordered: the premium Rosukatsu set with 300g of meat and curry for 2300 yen. - The premium Rosukatsu set and shoulder Rosukatsu set both come with 300g of meat, which is quite a generous portion. - The Rosukatsu set with 150g of meat is normally priced at 1200 yen, making it quite cost-effective. - The meat is cooked to a perfect pink color, making it juicy and tender. The breading is not too thick, allowing you to enjoy the meat more. - I recommend trying the three types of rock salt, with Himalayan rock salt being my personal favorite. - Overall, don't be fooled by the restaurant's atmosphere! The food is incredibly juicy and delicious. The 300g portion of premium Rosukatsu was a bit too much for me, so next time I'll go for the 200g portion. Laugh out loud.

I randomly walked into a tonkatsu curry restaurant. The combination of tonkatsu and curry is perfect for the autumn appetite. I ordered the hire (top loin) tonkatsu curry with miso soup. The hire tonkatsu was served on top of the curry. First, I tried the tonkatsu with three types of rock salt. The fatty meat paired well with the curry. The curry was not too spicy or too thick, and it mixed well with the rice. Eating tonkatsu, curry, and rice together is the true delight of tonkatsu curry. The miso soup was a hearty pork soup with a strong ginger flavor. It was filled with pork, carrots, and daikon. The combination of ginger and curry warmed me up from the inside. Ah, it was delicious! They have over 7 branches in various locations in Tokyo such as Kamata, Iidabashi, Akihabara, Asakusabashi, Shinbashi, Shinjuku Nishiguchi, and Shinjuku Gyoen. The head chef, Maruyama, is originally from Kagoshima and started his career working in a relative's diner in Kamata. He eventually opened his own tonkatsu restaurant and later ventured into curry. The restaurant has a lively atmosphere with Tokyo FM playing in the background. I tried their tonkatsu curry lunch set for the first time and it was delicious. The tonkatsu was thick and juicy with a bit of fat, and the curry was flavorful with tender beef. I highly recommend trying it out!

Budget: 2000 yen Pork loin cutlet curry: 1800 yen Miso soup: 200 yen I had a feeling that something was different from last time, as the pork or ingredients seemed to have changed. When I asked, I found out that they had switched from using Lin SPF to using Nadebuta. This made me less inclined to visit, as there are several other places nearby that also use Nadebuta. However, the quality here seemed better than at other places. The tonkatsu was quite good. The pork soup, in particular, was the best I've had. The curry here is milder compared to other places. I usually come here at night, and the fact that it's not too crowded is a plus. However, personally, I still prefer Lin SPF. It was the only Lin SPF in the area among all the similar restaurants.

Ippokoppe, a tonkatsu and curry restaurant located about a 10-minute walk from Iidabashi Station. I had heard of it before but it was my first time visiting. I ordered the hirekatsu set. The rock salt on the table was very delicious and paired well with the katsu. I would like to try the curry next time.

This is the Iidabashi branch of "Tonkatsu Ono's Curry Shop Ippokoppe," a tonkatsu curry brand run by Tonkatsu Ono, which is selected as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog every year in Kamata. The location is about a 5-minute walk from JR Iidabashi Station East Exit, on the first floor of a mixed-use building along Mejiro Street. I visited around noon on a weekday and there was no wait outside. I ordered the following at the ticket machine outside the store: - Rosu Katsu Curry ¥1,200 - Extra rice ¥100. Inside the store, there is only an L-shaped counter with 12 seats. There were 7 customers before me. I sat at an empty seat and handed my ticket to a female staff member. After waiting for about 10 minutes, I was served a visually appealing dish with crispy cabbage and rice topped with a particularly delicious rosu katsu. In front of it was a sea of curry. The katsu was incredibly delicious with a coarse, crispy coating. The overflowing meat juice, the tenderness of the pork, and the sweetness of the fat were exceptional. The store's recommended three types of salt are similar to those at "Tonkatsu Ono": - Pink Rock Salt: a mild and gentle saltiness - Himalayan Rock Salt Namak: a strong-smelling punchy salt - Texas Rock Salt: a fragrant and luxurious salt Personally, I preferred the Himalayan Rock Salt Namak the most. The rosu katsu at Ippokoppe has an overwhelming umami flavor that even the sauce cannot match. As expected from a renowned tonkatsu restaurant, the katsu is top-notch. The curry is also quite delicious. The katsu is so delicious that the curry's impression may be slightly overshadowed, but the curry alone is of a competitive level! It also goes well with the Fukujin pickles on the table. The collaboration of top-notch katsu and delicious curry is unmatched by ordinary katsu curry. The katsu curry made by a top tonkatsu restaurant is truly impressive. Even with extra rice, I finished it in no time. Thank you for the meal! 🚶‍♂️

I recommend visiting around 12 pm or after 1 pm to avoid the line. I ordered a lunch set of tonkatsu for 1,000 yen from the ticket machine outside the restaurant, which only accepts cash (but staff can help with change). The seating is only at the counter, with narrow spaces and boundaries marked on the table between diners. The food arrived in about 10 minutes after entering the restaurant. The portion was surprisingly large for a weekday lunch, with the meat having a good balance of fat and lean parts. The meat was tender and had a strong sweetness. The breadcrumbs were coarse, with a noticeable aroma. By the end, my upper jaw was a bit sore from chewing. There were condiments on the table like salt, pink salt, pepper, sauce, and soy sauce for personal preference. I enjoyed the combination of salt and mustard. Most customers ordered the katsu curry, while a smaller percentage ordered the set meal. I look forward to trying the katsu curry next time. Thank you for the meal.

I always have the top loin pork cutlet at Ippekoppu for lunch! As I got used to it, I found that the shoulder loin wasn't satisfying enough for my taste buds, so now I go for the top loin cutlet. The fatty meat and the salty seasoning with a hint of umami always match perfectly, making me want to eat it again and again! I entered the restaurant around 12:30 on a weekday. First, I purchased a meal ticket from the ticket machine outside the store and then entered. The interior of the restaurant has about 12 counter seats. This time, I ordered the "Rosukatsu Curry" (1,200 yen). It was served in about 10 minutes. I was torn between curry and a set meal, but I wanted to eat curry, so I chose that. The thick rosukatsu with cabbage on top was freshly fried and crispy. It was thick, fatty, and very juicy! The curry is cooked slowly with various vegetables and pork, and has a unique spice flavor. It goes perfectly with the rosukatsu! I tried changing the taste halfway through by adding sauce or salt, but the original tonkatsu was so delicious that it was best enjoyed as is. The tonkatsu was so juicy that it felt a bit greasy towards the end. Next time, I'll go when I'm feeling more balanced (laughs). It's tonkatsu with pork in the curry, so it's all about pork. The quality of the tonkatsu was high. Other menu items may be a bit pricey for a regular lunch, but I think they're definitely delicious, so I'd like to try them someday. I will definitely go back. The cutlet is delicious, including the fatty parts. It's tender and easy to cut. The balance of breading and meat is good and tasty. You order at the ticket vending machine outside. There is no place to hang your jacket or put your bag. The service is good.

Second visit. This time with a junior from university. The junior ordered the Special Pork Cutlet Curry with extra rice. I ordered the Special Fillet Cutlet Curry. The junior seemed hesitant when the separate cutlet arrived (laughs). The fillet cutlet is lean and refreshing without much fat, but the pork cutlet definitely has more satisfying texture. The taste of the fillet cutlet is also exquisite though.

The exterior is simple, but there are tapestries and a standing sign, making it clear that it is a curry restaurant. The interior has a small L-shaped counter seating only. I ordered the Top Loin Katsu Curry for 1800 yen (with less rice). The curry came with a generous amount of cabbage and a thick, large pork cutlet on top. The pork cutlet looked delicious, with a perfect rareness that made my mouth water. The cabbage was crunchy and tasty. The pork cutlet from the famous tonkatsu restaurant "Aoki" was indeed high quality and delicious. It was tender, juicy, and had a rich sweetness that even an amateur like me could appreciate. The thick pork cutlet was coated in a crispy batter, creating a satisfying crunch while remaining tender inside. It was so delicious that it didn't require much effort to cut it with a spoon. The portion might be too much for a working woman's lunch, so it would be nice if they offered a smaller size with less rice and curry for a discount. The curry sauce is really tasty but a bit spicy. Tonkatsu curry restaurant order set meal + curry single item for 300 yen. This was the right choice (glad I didn't go for the lunch set). Taste... delicious! Cost performance... average. Atmosphere... may vary depending on where you sit at the counter. Is it less crowded after 13:30 if you avoid lunchtime? Next time... I want to eat the same menu combination. Repeat... I would go back if I have errands in Iidabashi (1 star in Michelin terms).

However, I found out that you can also order a set menu with a tonkatsu curry topping. The restaurant only accepts cash, and the interior consists of a cozy counter seating area with about ten seats. The miso soup served was delicious, with a slightly sweet white miso flavor. The tonkatsu was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The curry was spicy and flavorful, with small pieces of meat mixed in. Overall, the tonkatsu curry was delicious, and I would love to come back to try their recommended special loin tonkatsu.

On the way back from my trip, I stopped by my favorite tonkatsu curry restaurant, "Ippekoppe," in Iidabashi, Tokyo. That day, the "Special Premium Loin" was sold out, so I had the rib loin instead. It was delicious with sweet-tasting fat and a generous portion. However, the heat distribution seemed inconsistent depending on the day, affecting the tenderness of the meat. While I understand the health department's concerns, the slightly red heat treatment that is supposed to be a selling point was lacking, which was disappointing. I had the rib loin, so it was still tender, but I couldn't feel the tenderness in the "Top Loin." It's a shame.
