It's been a while since I revisited a ramen shop. The last time I visited one was probably when I was in elementary school, about 25 years ago. I was born in Chiba, raised in Machida until college, and vaguely remember a ramen shop called Tsurugawa in my hometown. They used to have a special deal on Fridays with ramen for 190 yen, and I went there a few times with my dad. I don't remember the taste at all. Since then, I haven't had ramen from that shop. I heard that the taste can vary at different franchise ramen shops, which adds to the excitement, so I was looking forward to trying it again. Fast forward to three years ago when I moved to Kokubunji. I discovered a ramen shop called "Rasho" along my running route. It's a bit far from my home but reachable by bike or on foot with some effort, so I patiently waited for the day to visit. On the second day of my childcare leave, my wife and daughter had a regular check-up, so it was the perfect opportunity to go for ramen. Off to Rasho we went. The atmosphere was great, and my expectations were high. However, I was really disappointed. I didn't even need to write this caption. It was honestly worse than cafeteria ramen. The noodles were sticky, and there was no distinct flavor. But the most puzzling thing was the absence of a single slice of chashu. Why is there chashu in regular ramen but when you order negi ramen, the chashu is minced? The chashu on top of the negi was tasty, but anyone could make it, it's like cheating. Cut some negi, mix it with sesame oil, soy sauce, MSG, and a little sugar, and anyone can make it taste good. It was quite different from what I expected, and I felt let down. However, the portion of noodles was surprisingly generous! I've been running and doing strength training recently, so I've cut out carbs at night, which makes me unusually hungry, so I finished the whole bowl. After finishing, when I returned the bowl to the counter, the owner said, "Thank you for finishing it neatly!" Damn, this place is hard to hate! If I have the chance, I'd like to have a rematch! Ramen Shop Fuchu Bubaicho, Ramen Shop, Rasho, Negi Ramen, Why isn't there a single slice of chashu, What kind of rule is that, Like when you meet a girl you used to think was cute and she's not cute at all anymore, Memories are beautified because they are beautiful, Ramen, Ramen lover, Let's connect with ramen lovers, Bane Log.
